Chapter 409: Bei Hao
After realizing that the Myriad Sword Pavilion and the Swordsmith Master hadn't given up on hunting him down, Mo Yu's face turned cold, but he quickly pushed the thought aside. With the Thousand Faces Mask in his possession, his priority was to win the Artificers' Tournament. Once he grew stronger, he could deal with those problems one by one.
As Mo Yu walked through the city, he was surprised to see fully armed knights patrolling the main streets. Clearly, this was due to the upcoming Artificers' Tournament. Given how large the event was, any unrest could cause serious disruptions, so the rulers of Ten Thousand Weapons City, the Alliance of Artificers, were taking precautions to prevent any incidents.
After walking down several wide streets, the massive headquarters of the Alliance of Artificers finally came into view. Looking at the crowded entrance, Mo Yu raised his eyebrows—many artificers were eager to make a name for themselves in this tournament.
With his hands behind his back, Mo Yu strolled toward the headquarters, blending into the crowd of people waiting to enter. Just as he was about to follow the flow of people into the building, a commotion erupted behind him, causing many eyes to turn in that direction.
The crowd stopped moving forward, and Mo Yu, caught in the middle, frowned and turned his head to see what was happening.
The source of the disturbance was a luxurious carriage. In front of the carriage stood two pure white horses with flawless coats. Surrounding the carriage was a handsome young man dressed in white, along with a group of more than ten people wrapped in black cloaks.
Mo Yu's silver eyes narrowed as he scanned the black-cloaked individuals. To his surprise, he sensed a dangerous aura from each of them.
"They're all Dou Zong-level experts. Who are these people?" Mo Yu wondered, impressed by their strength. His gaze then shifted toward the carriage itself.
The white-clothed youth approached the carriage with a smile, lifting the curtain. As he did so, Mo Yu noticed the black-cloaked figures subtly shifting positions, forming a protective circle around the carriage. Sharp, hawk-like gazes shot out from their hoods, scanning the crowd for any signs of danger.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, a delicate, snow-white hand emerged from behind the curtain, grasping the young man's hand. Then, a tall and elegant figure slowly stepped out, catching everyone's attention.
The woman had a charming face and a full figure, with a beauty mark at the corner of her mouth that only added to her allure.
"Wow, what a beautiful woman…"
As soon as she appeared, the crowd around her erupted with praise. Many fiery gazes immediately focused on her.
"Heh, that's Miss Lü Qing'er. I've heard her teacher is none other than Master Cai Ya, one of the five elders of the Alliance of Artificers and the only female among them. As for the man beside her, that should be Bei Hao, the chief disciple of the Swordsmith Master, also one of the five elders. They must be here for the Artificers' Tournament," someone knowledgeable in the crowd said, recognizing the two.
"They don't seem that old. Are they really qualified to participate in the tournament?"
"Hmph, don't be fooled by their age. Both Bei Hao and Lü Qing'er have been praised by the five elders for their talent in artificing. I've heard that Lü Qing'er reached the level of a six-star artificer half a year ago. As for Bei Hao, rumors say he's already a seven-star artificer, stronger than many of the veteran artificers in the Alliance. He's definitely one of the top contenders to win the tournament. And who knows? Bei Hao might one day inherit the Swordsmith Master's legacy and become one of the rare eight-star artificers on the continent. It's just a pity about the Swordsmith Master's other disciple, who was also talented but ended up being killed by that Mo Yu after trying to ambush him…"
"Mo Yu…" At the mention of the name, the crowd started whispering again. Even though several months had passed since the incident, the topic was still hot due to the massive bounty offered by the Swordsmith Master.
In the crowd, Bei Hao's footsteps faltered when he heard Mo Yu's name. His brow furrowed, and an expression of disgust flashed across his face. It was clear that the name "Mo Yu" bothered him greatly.
At Lü Qing'er's urging, Bei Hao composed himself, hiding his emotions, and the two of them continued walking toward the Alliance headquarters.
As Mo Yu listened to the crowd's conversations, his eyes narrowed slightly. He glanced again at the white-clothed youth and the beautiful woman, surrounded by their black-cloaked protectors, as they approached the headquarters.
"So, this Bei Hao is the chief disciple of the Swordsmith Master, and he's not even thirty yet but has already become a seven-star artificer. Impressive, but… that's all," Mo Yu thought to himself.
While seven-star artificers were indeed rare and highly regarded on the continent, to Mo Yu, they had only just stepped into the realm of high-tier artificers. As for the hint of disgust he saw in Bei Hao's eyes, Mo Yu couldn't care less. He had already killed Bei Hao's fellow disciple, Sun Wuji, and hadn't been afraid of the Swordsmith Master then. So why would he fear Bei Hao now?
Under the protection of their ominous, cold-aura guards, Bei Hao and Lü Qing'er passed through the crowded street without any hindrance and boldly entered the headquarters of the Alliance.
Once they were out of sight, Mo Yu skillfully weaved through the crowd like a slippery fish, making his way toward the headquarters. He intended to meet with Lan Yingying and the old artificer, Bing Lao, with whom he had crossed paths before.
After all, this was the territory of the Alliance of Artificers, and Mo Yu knew that the Alliance was controlled by five major figures—its five elders. Bing Lao was one of these five. Even though Mo Yu was currently disguised and unlikely to be recognized by the Swordsmith Master, it would be foolish not to leverage such a powerful connection.
However, when Mo Yu reached the entrance of the headquarters, he was stopped by the guards.
Even though the Alliance wasn't as prominent as the Pill Tower, it was still a major force in the Central Plains, and its headquarters wasn't a place just anyone could casually enter. While Bei Hao and Lü Qing'er were direct disciples of the elders, Mo Yu, as a stranger, couldn't simply barge in.
Mo Yu frowned slightly. He had hoped to reveal his identity after finding Bing Lao, but now he couldn't even get inside. Still, forcing his way through wasn't an option either—he would have to find another approach.
Just as Mo Yu was about to leave, he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye. His lips curved into a smile, and he raised his hand to greet the person.
"Miss Lan Yingying, long time no see."
