Chapter 571: The Ancient Manghuang Domain, Meeting Yun Yun Again
The next day, outside Manghuang Town, countless figures gathered in a large crowd, and the combined noise created a massive wave of sound that spread far and wide.
Mo Yu's group and Xiao Yan's group stood at the rear. Even with their forces combined, they appeared insignificant compared to the thousands of people around them.
Not far ahead of the massive crowd lay an ancient forest, exuding a primeval aura. Giant trees, towering hundreds of meters high, stood like giants, their vast canopies shrouding the area in darkness. Deep within the forest, a creeping blackness loomed, and occasionally, the chilling roars of savage beasts echoed out, sending shivers down people's spines.
"This is indeed the Ancient Manghuang Domain. It's quite formidable," Xiao Yixian said softly.
Standing under the massive trees, everyone felt a sense of insignificance—like they were mere specks in comparison to the ancient power of this place, which was said to be one of the oldest regions on the continent.
Mo Yu nodded, his gaze sweeping across the scene before turning to Xiao Yan beside him. "Aside from the forces we can see, it's likely that there are many hidden groups entering the Manghuang Domain this time. We must stay on our guard."
Xiao Yan nodded in agreement, his face showing a hint of seriousness.
Moments after Mo Yu spoke, the enormous crowd began to stir, signaling that many were preparing to charge into the forest.
Boom!
Thousands of people moved at once, causing the ground to tremble. Amidst loud shouts, countless figures darted forward and rushed impatiently into the silent, ancient forest.
Mo Yu and Xiao Yan's groups, however, did not move immediately. They waited for about half an hour, letting the commotion die down. Then, Mo Yu stood up and looked toward the now chaotic forest. With a wave of his hand, he said, "Let's move. Stay alert, everyone!"
With that, Mo Yu lightly tapped his foot on the ground and shot forward like a shadow, swiftly entering the ancient forest. Behind him, Qingzhi and the others, as well as Xiao Yan's group, followed closely.
Hiss!
The moment Xiao Yan entered the ancient forest, the surrounding light dimmed abruptly. The air grew thick with the smell of rotting leaves, seeping in from all directions.
Once inside, Mo Yu's group moved quickly. In just under ten minutes, they had traveled several kilometers into the forest. Along the way, they encountered little trouble, and even the occasional ferocious beasts were quickly overwhelmed and slaughtered by the large crowd.
Despite the relatively smooth journey, Mo Yu's group remained cautious. After all, they were in the dangerous Manghuang Domain.
As they continued, they gradually ventured farther away from the forest's edge.
Hiss!
In the dim forest, several figures flashed by and then suddenly stopped atop a massive tree.
"There's poison mist around," Xiao Yixian said, her sharp eyes scanning the area. Her sensitivity to poison made her the first to detect the faint traces of it in the air.
Hearing this, Mo Yu and the others were taken aback. The poison fog in the Manghuang Domain was notorious and extremely troublesome. If inhaled in large amounts, even Dou Zun experts could be poisoned to death.
Fortunately, with Xiao Yixian's detoxifying pills, this level of poison wouldn't pose too much of a threat to them.
"Let's keep going," Mo Yu said softly after seeing everyone had taken their antidotes. He quickened his pace.
As their speed increased, the poison fog grew denser. Meanwhile, cries of pain and death began echoing through the forest. It was clear that some of the reckless, greedy individuals had already paid a heavy price.
Neither Mo Yu nor Xiao Yan felt any sympathy for these victims. The dangers of the Manghuang Domain were well known. Those who still ventured in, driven by greed, were simply digging their own graves.
Boom!
As Mo Yu's group pushed forward through the toxic mist, a sudden surge of intense energy erupted not far ahead.
Sensing this, Mo Yu raised an eyebrow and slowed his pace. His figure landed on the ground, and he glanced ahead to see a corpse lying on the open ground. The body was blackened, its face frozen in an expression of terror and regret.
"A Dou Zun expert..." Xiao Yan sighed softly.
This unfortunate soul had been a genuine Dou Zun expert, yet even they couldn't withstand the poison fog here.
"There's something unusual about this poison fog. Normally, Dou Zun experts can use their Dou Qi to form a protective barrier around their bodies. Ordinary poisons shouldn't be able to harm them," Qing Lin murmured thoughtfully.
Xiao Yixian narrowed her eyes. She reached out to catch a wisp of the poison mist, exhaled lightly, and said, "It's not just poison fog. These are toxic insects."
"Toxic insects?" Cai Lin was startled. She stared at the mist for a moment but saw no sign of insects.
"These toxic insects are incredibly small, so small that they're invisible to the naked eye. They float in the air, and what those people inhaled into their bodies were billions of these tiny, poisonous creatures. You likely have some of them inside you as well, but my body naturally contains powerful toxins that killed them as soon as they entered," Xiao Yixian explained.
Mo Yu nodded in understanding, then gave a command, "Qingzhi, take care of it."
With that, Qingzhi stepped forward and waved his sleeve, unleashing a terrifying wave of cold energy. The forest was instantly coated in white frost as if they had entered a world of ice and snow.
Chirrup! Chirrup!
As the freezing air spread, ear-piercing screeches echoed from the mist. It sounded as if countless tiny creatures were being frozen in an instant.
Though these toxic insects were a deadly threat to Dou Zun experts, they were no match for a half-saint like Qingzhi. The mist recoiled from the cold, retreating rapidly and staying far from Mo Yu's group.
"Let's move on," Mo Yu said, waving his hand.
"Impressive. Just this layer of poisonous mist is enough to block out eighty percent of people. The Manghuang Domain truly lives up to its reputation," Xiao Yan remarked as he led his group, following closely behind Mo Yu's.
With Qingzhi leading the way, they managed to exit the poison mist after about half an hour.
Standing atop a large boulder, Mo Yu looked ahead. A massive gorge, several hundred meters wide, stretched before them. The gorge was deep, filled with swirling toxic fumes that obscured the bottom. Beyond the gorge lay an endless mountain range.
The mountains were tall and ancient, like colossal dragons lying in wait. A primordial, desolate aura emanated from the peaks, permeating the entire area.
Beyond lay the true heart of the Manghuang Domain.
"Let's go."
Mo Yu tapped the boulder with his foot and soared into the sky like a great bird, crossing the gorge with swift strides. The rest of the group followed closely behind.
...
By noon, the ancient and savage region echoed with the roars of ferocious beasts. Their howls resonated through the sky.
Boom!
A fierce blast of Dou Qi shot out from the forest, slamming into a massive beast. The toxic energy within the attack instantly severed the beast's life force, killing it before it could even let out a full roar. Its enormous body collapsed to the ground with a thundering crash.
As the giant beast fell, several figures emerged from the forest. It was Mo Yu's group.
"Let's take a break and wait for the Starfall Pavilion elder to return from scouting ahead," Mo Yu said, glancing at the fallen beast.
The dangers of the Manghuang Domain had become increasingly evident during their journey, so when one of Starfall Pavilion's elders offered to scout ahead, Mo Yu accepted the suggestion.
After a brief rest, the sound of rushing wind approached from ahead. The elderly figure who had gone scouting—Elder Qingcheng—returned swiftly.
"Elder Qingcheng, how was it?" Xiao Yan asked.
"The path ahead is relatively clear, but I did encounter a group from the Tianming Sect. It looks like they're chasing down people from the Flower Sect," Elder Qingcheng reported.
"The Flower Sect?" Xiao Yan's face showed a trace of confusion before he suddenly remembered something. He turned to Mo Yu, sensing that the name might mean something to him.
Sure enough, Mo Yu's expression immediately darkened. His voice was cold as he asked, "Where?"
...
In the ancient mountain range, several figures darted through the air, moving swiftly yet with a hint of desperation.
Leading the group was a woman in a white dress. As she flew, her dress billowed, and her presence radiated an indescribable elegance and nobility. Her stunning beauty seemed to bring life to the wild mountain wilderness.
This woman was none other than Yun Yun, the current sect leader of the Flower Sect.
Following closely behind Yun Yun was a lovely young woman—Nalan Yanran.
Besides the master-disciple duo, there were also three or four elderly elders of the Flower Sect fleeing with them.
"Haha, Sect Leader Yun Yun, there's no escape! Why struggle? Our vice sect leader has taken a fancy to you, and that's a blessing for you. Serving him together with your disciple would be quite the story!" A creepy, high-pitched laugh echoed behind them, making Yun Yun and Nalan Yanran's faces darken in anger.
"Shameless!" Nalan Yanran bit her lip and shouted furiously.
"Oh, I like that name!" A shadowy figure suddenly appeared on a tree branch ahead. It was a tall, skinny man dressed in black, his body resembling a bamboo stick. He grinned wickedly at Nalan Yanran.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
As the man appeared to block their path, a series of wind-piercing sounds came from behind. Ten or so figures swiftly closed in, landing on the ground behind Yun Yun's group.
"Haha, Sect Leader Yun Yun, I told you there's no escape," said the pale-skinned, richly dressed middle-aged man leading the group. He was none other than Liu Cang, the vice leader of the Tianming Sect.
Among Liu Cang's followers was a man holding a purple fan. It was the same Flower Demon Lord who had previously been scared off by Mo Yu.
Liu Cang's eyes gleamed as he gazed at Yun Yun and Nalan Yanran. His tongue involuntarily licked his lips.
A master and disciple duo like this was a rare treasure. If he could claim them both, how many people would envy him? Especially when the master was the leader of the prestigious Flower Sect.
With his desire growing, Liu Cang waved his hand and ordered, "Take them!"
At Liu Cang's command, the Tianming Sect experts moved in unison, surrounding Yun Yun and her group. Waves of Dou Qi surged as they prepared to strike.
Even though Yun Yun's strength had been boosted to the level of an eight-star Dou Zun by the inheritance of Elder Hua, she was still struggling under the combined assault of so many powerful enemies.
Pfft!
Within minutes, Yun Yun was struck by a fierce joint attack from several Tianming Sect experts and the Flower Demon Lord. She coughed up blood, her body crashing into a boulder, and she let out a low groan of pain.
"Sect Leader Yun Yun, once the vice leader is done with you, let's see if Mo Yu will still want you," the Flower Demon Lord sneered as he approached her. His iron fan was aimed viciously at her lower abdomen.
Yun Yun gritted her teeth, ready to summon her remaining strength to fight back. But just as she was about to act, a thunderous roar echoed from the sky.
Suddenly, a dazzling bolt of purple-gold lightning exploded in the sky, forming a massive hand. It descended like a bolt of judgment, striking the Flower Demon Lord before he could react.
In an instant, the terrifying lightning reduced the Flower Demon Lord to ashes, leaving only a faint echo of his death cry.
Seeing their comrade obliterated so effortlessly, the other Tianming Sect experts were filled with terror. They hastily retreated, their faces pale with fear as they gazed at the tall, lightning-wreathed figure.
"You Tianming Sect people… are you looking to be wiped out?"
The booming voice of the purple-gold lightning figure reverberated like thunder across the battlefield.
Hearing the warning of total annihilation, Liu Cang's expression darkened as he slowly clenched his fists.
