"As I mentioned yesterday, today we will have some guests to talk about Work Studies. You will hear firsthand from those with the most experience; they have made time out of their busy schedules to come and speak. Please listen to what they have to say."
"These three third-years are the top of all the students at UA; they're known as... the Big Three," Aizawa said as he introduced the students who began to enter. My eyes widened slightly.
The three people who entered were definitely the ones I remembered: Mirio Togata, Nejire Hado, and finally, Tamaki Amajiki. The first two were exactly as I remembered, but Amajiki was a woman. That… was interesting, especially since I saw matching rings on all three of their hands—quite curious.
Amajiki, even though she was a woman, had retained the same shy, nervous, and slightly emo personality. I smiled amusedly as I watched everyone's introductions, especially that of the very hyperactive Nejire.
"I see... well, it seems my introduction was a disaster, so... would you like to team up and fight me?!" Mirio asked cheerfully as he struck a pose. Aizawa sighed as he looked at Mirio.
"Do whatever you want," Aizawa sighed. So, most of my classmates were terribly confused, but we all went to Gym Gamma anyway, after changing into gym clothes. I let the rest of the class talk to Mirio and the others while I approached Aizawa.
"Should I get involved?" I asked Aizawa easily. Aizawa looked at me for a few moments.
"Go for it, the result... should be interesting." Aizawa said as he began to smile. I raised an eyebrow curiously, but still, I shrugged, pulled Wado Ichimonji out of my shadows, and held it in my hand almost lazily as I approached the group.
I could see that Bakugou and Todoroki were standing to one side of the group not interfering. Judging by the murderous look on Bakugou's face, she wasn't happy about that decision at all, but since they had both failed to get their licenses, they decided not to interfere with the training.
I arrived just in time to see Class 1-A relentlessly attacking Mirio, and as expected, all their attacks missed him completely. Mirio vanished and reappeared completely naked behind Taylor; I raised an eyebrow at that.
"Shouldn't we start with the most troublesome ones?" Mirio said cheerfully. I could see his fist turn black due to the haki and he punched Taylor hard in the stomach before she could react.
He spun around with ease and struck his elbow against her chin, leaving her completely stunned on the ground before continuing with the rest of the class with long-range quirks. Ravel, Sinon, Sona, Ashido, Jiro, Yaoyorozu, Yunyun, and Tsuyu were defeated in a few seconds.
"POWER!!!" shouted Mirio with a huge smile as he posed.
Even with an aura, a well-placed Armament Haki strike would be enough to incapacitate them with pain, especially a surprise blow to the stomach; no one had a chance to prepare a proper defense before Mirio hit them hard.
"Alright class, this is a great opportunity, so learn a little about it. Mirio Togata is the closest person to being the number one hero, even among the pros, and one of the few people capable of advancing to S-rank Hunter from a lower rank." Aizawa exclaimed. My eyes widened slightly. Now, that was interesting.
I could see Taylor trying to breathe on the edge of consciousness, her insects immediately attacked Mirio, which were completely useless when Mirio disappeared and concentrated on the other half of class 1-A, I stayed away for the moment keeping my distance while frowning.
In a few seconds, the rest of Class 1-A was defeated, just as I expected. Even Ruby's speed had been ineffective against Mirio; somehow, he had predicted Ruby's movements and teleported behind her even when she was using her quirk.
Truly impressive.
Mirio had finally defeated them all, which was terribly surprising; several of them were much stronger than their canon counterparts, and there were people much stronger in this class than in the canon. Even so, Mirio was able to defeat them all with extreme ease.
I smiled slightly, tapped the ground gently without making any noise, appeared behind Mirio and moved my sword to strike from his blind spot. To my surprise, my sword pierced his torso with ease, I raised an eyebrow at that.
Could he sense me arriving?
Mirio turned around while smiling, his fist went towards my face, he extended his fingers and I could see them slowly disappearing in my direction, or at least, everything inside Mirio's hand.
Quirks were pure bullshit. Plain and simple. They have no logic, they make no sense, they barely follow the laws of physics. There's a lot wrong with them if you try to compare and study a quirk solely under the normal laws of physics.
And Mirio was one of those. His quirk, Permeation, allowed him to pass through all matter, becoming completely intangible with extreme ease, and that also included things like light, so if he used it on his head, the light would pass through him and he would go blind.
But that's where it failed miserably. If light passes through him completely to the point of blindness, it should pass through the rest of his body, and he should actually be invisible. But no, Mirio was completely visible even while using his Quirk. But what I discovered upon seeing him was that I couldn't see his organs with my transparent world, while Mirio was intangible.
It was really strange. I could see his body, his skin, his hair, everything that was the 'upper' part of his body, but all his organs, bones, muscles, veins, everything, disappeared, leaving a large transparent hole inside Mirio's body.
Now, why on earth was that happening? I had no idea. The Transparent World wasn't X-ray vision; it was just extrasensory perception that didn't even have anything to do with the eyes at all. After all, Gyomei was completely blind and could access the Transparent World.
But honestly, I had no idea how it worked; it was an extreme perception of the opponent's body interacting with the physical world, using all my senses to feel the opponent's body at an extreme level.
Seeing muscle building, tension, micro-movements, hearing heartbeats, muscle friction, breathing, feeling vibrations in the air, on the ground, smelling subtle chemical changes, the senses were honed to a terrifying level while focused on an enemy, and somehow, the brain reconstructed an internal mental image of the enemy.
Or at least that was the closest explanation I could come up with. And Mirio, because he didn't interact with the physical world, made my transparent world disappear every time he used his quirk; it was truly extraordinary.
But also, thanks to that I could easily see when he activated and deactivated his quirk, or in what partial part his Permeation was activated, when I saw the inside of Mirio's hand disappear, I didn't even hesitate, I didn't even blink when I pushed my head forward.
His hand pierced me completely in one swift motion. I could see the surprise in Mirio's eyes. I didn't stop; my head kept moving forward to strike Mirio's with a headbutt. Only for his entire inside to suddenly vanish. I passed right through Mirio's body.
Without hesitation, I grabbed Wado Ichimonji and turned 180° while slashing with my sword. Mirio was waiting for me with a smile. I could see my sword pass right through Mirio's body again.
I clicked my tongue and began to move quickly. My sword moved faster and faster as I tried to hit Mirio at least once, but no matter what I did, Mirio kept dodging me somehow.
Meanwhile, Mirio kept throwing punches, even disappearing and reappearing around me several times. It was easy to dodge the real blows while letting the fake ones meant to distract me pass right through my body. What was most annoying was that Mirio started activating and deactivating his quirk the instant he was about to hit me.
It was getting annoying; definitely, if it weren't for my Observation Haki and my enormous reaction speed, Mirio would have hit me several times already.
And I wasn't doing any better. No matter how much I attacked his blind spot, no matter how well I camouflaged myself, Mirio kept activating Permeation to avoid all my attacks with a huge grin. What was most annoying was that I could see his use of Permeation was excellent.
Mirio didn't activate his quirk over his entire body at the same time, but rather in parts; Mario had such enormous control over his quirk that it only activated where Wado Ichimonji's blade would be cutting.
As if… as if he knew what was going on. That damn son of a-
I snorted as I took a step back from Mirio and sheathed my sword. I looked at Mirio contemplatively before letting out another amused snort.
"You can see the future," I told Mirio, and his smile grew even wider.
"And you too," Mirio said cheerfully. My eyes sparkled with excitement. Someone who could see the future—Mirio had Observation Haki, one developed enough to see the future.
A Haki that perfectly complemented his Quirk. The problem with Permeation was his inability to use his senses when it activated in his head or when his body fell underground, but normal Observation Haki erased that fatal weakness.
And having visions of the future increased Mirio's danger; in canon, Mirio was already terrifying enough when it came to predicting his opponents' movements to use his quirk to position himself correctly without being able to see or hear anything.
Now? Now his quirk had reached a new limit; with Future Vision, it was impossible to even hit him. It was an absolute and perfect defense under normal circumstances.
Seriously, Mirio was a damn genius, and he definitely deserved to be the closest thing to being the number 1 hero even among the pros, damn monster.
I grinned maniacally as I gripped the hilt of Wado Ichimonji tightly. Let's see how far Mirio can push me. Mirio seemed to think the same; his smile widened, and he assumed a fighting stance.
"Enough," Aizawa interjected, just as we were about to move. We both stumbled half a step forward before sighing in frustration. "I don't need a fight between you two. You'll end up destroying the entire Gamma Gym." Aizawa grumbled wearily. I pouted as I let my sword fall into my shadow once more.
"Hahaha! Sorry Eraserhead!" Mirio said cheerfully while smiling.
"You all, get up already." Aizawa growled, looking down at most of the class on the floor while clutching his stomach. The entire class groaned in unison as they struggled to their feet.
"Ah! I'm sorry! I could barely contain myself! My apologies! " Mirio said loudly as he apologized. I snorted in amusement.
I hummed to myself while ignoring Mirio's explanation of his quirk. Now, he was genuinely interested in how Mirio had learned to see the future. If Mirio was still interning with Nighteye, then it must be related. He had learned the importance of predicting his opponents from Nighteye, but if… Nighteye was able to teach future vision much more easily thanks to his quirk, then… it was truly incredible.
Now I was really curious about Nejire and Amajiki, both of whom were supposed to be at Mirio's level, or close to it. Would they be able to use Haki? If I remembered correctly, Haki was something that was taught, or could be learned, starting in the second year at UA. It wasn't something everyone could learn, and it definitely required too much time for an average person to master, so very few students could even master it by the end of their third year.
The fact that Mirio was able to see into the future using Observation Haki meant he was incredibly talented and had worked incredibly hard to achieve it. It was impressive.
I blinked slightly, and by the time I realized it, Mirio and the others had already left and we were walking back to the classroom.
"Oof, he hits hard." Ruby groaned as she painfully massaged her stomach.
"He hit me twice," Taylor complained, massaging her jaw. I chuckled slightly.
"You were the first one he attacked, he identified you as the most problematic." I said easily, Taylor pouted.
"That doesn't console me, knowing I couldn't do anything against him," Taylor complained. I chuckled slightly.
"There wasn't much you could do. It was impossible for your insects to track his movements because they couldn't touch him, and his quirk was strange enough to catch you off guard. Not only that, he was fast and strong; he was really good." I said honestly. Azula raised an eyebrow.
"Praising someone? You sound genuinely impressed." Azula said, grimacing as she walked away. I nodded.
"He can see the future, that's no small feat. As someone who has mastered that ability, I know how much effort he must have put in to achieve it." I said easily, and Azula simply nodded.
"It's really unfair," Ruby said with a pout. "I really want to learn how to use Haki!" she complained.
"I'm already teaching you, it's not something you learn out of thin air." I snorted dryly. "Mirio has been training longer, so it's normal. It even took me years to master it, I've only been teaching you guys for months, don't complain." I snorted dryly, but Ruby still pouted.
"I know, but- " Ruby complained anyway, I just rolled my eyes playfully.
"Have you decided who you'll do your Work Studies with ?" I asked, changing the subject. The three of them grimaced. I sighed wearily. Well, it's not like I could argue with them; I still had to call Mirko to see if I could get that internship.
But before that… maybe it's best if I meet with the Zenin. I grimaced at the idea, but it would be better to do it before they mess things up even more. I'll have to call Mom, I guess… I suppose tomorrow is the best option to meet with them, sooner rather than later. The sooner I get that meeting out of the way, the better.
