The meeting between Agatha, Koga, Sabrina and Gladion did not end after Gladion and Sabrina accept d the offer to join Kanto's Aura guardian corps.
Koga crossed his arms, his voice steady. "Now that you've agreed to join the Aura Guardians, let's talk about your responsibilities. What you'll be tasked with."
Gladion's brow rose, his tone sarcastic. "No ceremony? No badge? No cloak?"
Koga grunted, his face unamused. "We'll have an official ceremony another day."
He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. "Your main job is to gather intel on criminal groups across Indigo. Well, not just criminals but also politicians, military officers and some important businessmen. Their deals, suspicious texts, photos, messages—anything you find on your social media. I believe your apps collect private data and can track locations. We want that too."
Gladion's smile faltered, 'A pity there are no privacy laws for devices or social media here. On Earth, this would've sparked riots, protests, maybe even shut down my apps.'
'That's a lot of work, though. I'd need trustworthy people who won't blow a whistle on me for exploiting people's privacy. I can't have my assistance doing this. They are too young and who would tend to my Pokemon if they are busy with this.'
His mind churned, landing on a solution, and his smile returned, innocent but devilish. "The three Aura Guardians you're stationing in Moonwood can gather that intel. They're protectors and heroes of Kanto, after all—we don't want them having a vacation here. They'll have access to all my data. Just message them if you need anything."
'Perfect,' he thought, his aura buzzing with satisfaction. 'They stay near my family, gym, and companies, ready to act if anyone tries anything. And I don't have to lift a finger. All the benefits, none of the grunt work. Feels so good.'
Agatha's face went blank, her face stunned, while Koga's eyes widened, his ninja composure cracking.
'This kid's shameless. The most shameless I have ever seen,' Agatha thought, 'Logical, but shameless. A dangerous combination.' Koga's thoughts echoed hers.
'He's turning our own agents into his personal staff. Clever brat.' Neither argued, knowing his logic was airtight.
Koga regained his composure, his voice firm. "The strength of your Alpha Tyranitar is unmatched by normal pseudo-legendaries. With your other Pokémon, you're suited for any situation. We'll need you and Colossus to hold back legendaries if we ever face one. You'd be the main force."
'They're asking me to put Colossus's life against a legendary. Fair, given the benefits, but I'm a Vortex—greed's in my blood.' Gladion thought as he recalled the massive loot from saving Zapdos's kid from Team Rocket years ago—rare Pokémon materials and stones that funded his Vortex Shop.
'That haul changed everything,' he thought.
"If we fight a legendary, I get first pick at the loot and the larger share," he said, his voice casual but firm.
Agatha's eyes narrowed, but Koga nodded. "Agreed."
'He drives a hard bargain,' Koga thought, grudgingly impressed.
Koga's tone shifted, serious. "Now, your first mission. We want you to arrest Mayor Victor 'Vic' Goldmane of Vermilion City."
Gladion's brow rose, 'The mayor of Vermillion city?'
Koga continued, "He's using his power as mayor and Port Authority Director to smuggle rare Pokémon through Vermilion Port, hiding them in crates marked as 'marine supplies.' He has ties to Johto poachers and Hoenn's Magma and Aqua defectors."
'Smuggling Pokémon? That's a bold move for a mayor. Another person using his power to get more profits illegally.' Gladion thought
"You have proof?" he asked. Koga nodded. "We'll provide it. As a major Gym Leader, you have the authority to raid his base and arrest him. In fact, we found the information from the corrupt league officials that you exposed."
"Why me? You can do it yourself. You both have the authority and the power to do it yourself." Gladion asked skeptically.
Agatha leaned forward, her voice sharp. "Vic's got heavy support in the League and contacts in the army. He's rich—generational wealth from his father and grandfather, though not as rich as you. We can't move against him without losing favor with high-profile allies we need for future plans."
She then sarcastically said, "You're already seen as a rebel after exposing those corrupt officials. This'll just look like you continuing your crusade. Besides, you bought our votes, didn't you? You don't need more support, do you?"
Gladion's smirk widened, catching her jab. 'She's not wrong,' he thought. 'I'm the perfect fall guy for this. Arresting him would leave a hole in Vermillion city since his businesses would also be seized. I can also take advantage of this.'
Koga added, "Other criminals will go into hiding or shut down their operations out of fear you'll come for them next. Even if they don't stop, they'll lose suppliers or customers worried they'll be caught after Vic."
Gladion mind raced as he saw the bigger picture. "And you two stay clean," he said, finishing Koga's thought. "People will approach you to steer me away, thinking you're the good guys. You gather intel, I play the bad guy, get proof, and they're arrested."
Agatha crackled with laughter, her aura amused. "Please, no one considers me or Koga a good guy. But you're half right—they'll come to us for support against you, and if they want the support, they're hiding something."
Koga nodded, "Exactly."
Agatha waved her cane, shooing them. "Now shoo, boy, get your first mission as an Aura Guardian done. Oh, Also keep this Aura guardian thing a secret. We prefer acting from shadows."
"Meanwhile, We will explain Sabrina about her duties." Agatha said looking at Sabrina who was looking through memes on her device after getting bored of her mind during the meeting.
