Lance looked at the gathered crowd, which had become completely silent after his Dragonite unleashed its powerful roar.
Thousands of eyes were fixed on him including trainers, families, reporters, and officials packed into the massive plaza outside the League Hall.
As Lance scanned the faces, Gladion felt the Dragon-type aura radiating from him. It was thick and oppressive, like standing in the path of an incoming storm.
Gladion's skin prickled; even from his spot on the steps with the other Gym Leaders, he could sense the raw power. Lance's Dragonite stood tall beside him, chest puffed out, wings half-spread, adding to the intimidation.
Gladion noticed some in the crowd shiver. A young trainer near the front gripped his cap tightly, eyes wide.
A group of reporters exchanged uneasy glances, one whispering to another. Even hardened officials shifted their weight, the aura pressing down like an invisible weight.
'He has Impressive control over the aura. He is controlling it enough to not make people faint or pee in fear while making people scared enough to respect him.'
Gladion thought. 'Lance does n't just have strong aura but he knows how to use it.'
"My fellow citizens of Indigo," Lance began, his voice clear and strong, carrying across the plaza without effort. "Whether you are a trainer chasing your first badge, a businessman growing your company, a researcher studying Pokémon mysteries, a Gym Leader shaping young minds, or even a simple citizen enjoying a quiet life, I promise you this: I will work for the betterment of every single one of you. We are all part of this great region, and together, we will rise stronger than ever."
He paused, letting the words sink in, his cape fluttering slightly. "To the Gym Leaders and Elite Four here today, I call on you to stand as the unbreakable guardians of our two regions and our people. Protect Kanto's vibrant cities and Johto's timeless traditions. Shield every trainer on the road, every child with dreams of greatness, every family in their homes. Train your Pokémon to peak perfection, battle with honor and fury, and unite against any shadow that dares threaten us. You are the wall that holds back chaos, be worthy of it."
Gladion was quite impressed with the speech.
"Indigo is our shared legacy, forged in battles and bonds. With your strength beside me, we will ensure peace, prosperity, and pride for all who call these lands home. Let us build an era where no dream is too big and no threat too great!"
The crowd erupted in cheers, fists pumping, Pokémon roaring from shoulders. But Lance raised a hand, quieting them once more. His eyes burned with determination. "Now, hear the changes I will make. First, our constitution, the rights and laws that guide us, will be equal for Kanto and Johto. No more division. It's time we unite as one people. Equal taxes, equal funding for gyms and schools, equal chances for every trainer. Johto's clans and Kanto's innovators will stand shoulder to shoulder, stronger together."
"I will also reach out to Sinnoh right away to build diplomatic ties. If things go well, they will join our League. Imagine it. new Pokémon from an entirely new region, fresh battle styles, circuits spanning more lands. Our world would become bigger and brighter."
"I will also try forming an International Police force. Elite trainers, investigators, and specialists dedicated to catching terrorists and criminals who hide across borders. No mercy for war remnants, Pokémon smugglers, or groups plotting in the shadows. They'll strike fast, like a Dragonite's Wing Attack, rooting out evil before it spreads. Safe roads for all, from Pallet Town to Ecruteak City."
"That's not all. We'll pour funds into trainer academies everywhere, free classes for kids dreaming of journeys. Safer routes with more Pokemon centres. Huge research grants to discover evolutions and protect habitats. And strong environmental laws to keep our forests, caves, and seas thriving for tomorrow generations."
"These changes will make Indigo a beacon for the world. Join me. train hard, support each other, and watch our region soar!"
Lance ended the speech with a fist raised high. The plaza exploded in thunderous applause, cheers shaking the ground. His Dragonite let out a triumphant roar, wings flaring wide.
Reporters scribbled furiously, fans chanted "Lance! Lance!" and even skeptical clan heads nodded approval.
Then, everything changed. A young aide in a League uniform sprinted up the steps, face pale, and whispered urgently into Lance's ear. The new champion's eyes widened in alarm, his posture stiffening.
At the same instant, phones buzzed for many people. Gladion's pocket vibrated insistently. He answered quickly. "What is it?" A sharp voice replied: "Multiple attacks. Olivine Port hit hard. explosions, heavy Pokémon deployed. Suspected Rocket holdouts using the ceremony as cover."
Around him, chaos rippled through the leaders. Giovanni's phone rang; he barked orders in a low growl, his face like stone.
Jasmine clutched hers, whispering frantically about her city's port. Sabrina's eyes glowed as she took a psychic call.
Blaine answered with a grunt. Agatha sneered at her device, muttering curses. Gwen's phone lit up; she glanced at Gladion, worried. Reporters' gadgets went wild, screens flashing alerts. Distant sirens wailed from the city skyline, smoke rising faintly on the horizon.
The crowd sensed it, murmurs turning to worried chatter. Gym Leaders exchanged grim nods, hands on Poké Balls.
Gladion sighed deeply, pocketing his phone. 'Yeah, no event can end without any trouble.'
Lance grabbed the microphone again, his voice cutting through the rising noise like a blade. "I'm sorry, everyone. I'll have to cut my speech short. Some nuisances have taken this chance to attack Indigo."
The plaza burst into uproar. Reporters surged forward, shouting: "What's happening, Champion?" "Terrorist attack?" "Where are they striking?" "Is it Team Rocket?" Cameras flashed wildly, the crowd pushing against barriers.
Lance didn't flinch, ignoring the frenzy. "But don't worry. the Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and I, along with the military, will handle the situation swiftly."
He turned to the assembled leaders, his gaze steady and commanding. They met his eyes, ready. Lance nodded firmly.
