Chapter 249 - Chapter 248: We have been had

Dust and smoke filled the air as the entire military base that had erupted from the ground and had been thrown like it was a toy broke apart when it landed.

Concrete cracked. Metal twisted. The crash sounded to.people miles away. Pieces flew in every direction. A thick cloud of dust rose high and blocked the sun for minutes.

The viewers from the league just watched the scene holding their breaths. They had seen the remnants of Moltres vs Zapdos fight. There was a lot of damage due to their battle but this was on another scale.

Ofcourse, both Moltres and Zapdos could have caused much more damage if they truly wanted. But Gladion believed that Moltres was holding back on doing so considering that she was the queen of Mt. silver and she did not want the other Pokemon to suffer for her actions.

But if also told the people watching that the psychic legendary had no such restriction. They could control who they want to destroy with their controlled psychic power.

Latios looked at his work for a second. He scanned the wreckage with calm eyes to see if there were survivors among the broken stones.

Meanwhile Latias turned her attention to the Team Rocket members still alive outside the base. They stood frozen. Their faces were white. Eyes were wide with terror. Many shook. Some cried openly. They knew death had come close. One attack had erased their friends and colleagues. They waited for the next.

And they started begging once again for their lives. It made Gladion think that team rocket members were truly shameless sons of bitches without any moral or even a pride of a criminal.

A young grunt fell to his knees. "Please," he begged. "I have a family. I only joined for money. I did not know about the eggs."

An older woman dropped her Poké Ball. "Mercy. I will tell everything. Locations. Names. Anything."

Gladion spoke to Latias telepathially 'Lets restrain them. Take away their Poké Balls. We need people to question and we can't have everyone dead. We must find more Team Rocket bases. And with these many team rocket agents, surely there must be proof against Giovanni or at least one of his top executives.'

He flew down on Elder Green and landed in front of the terrified grunts. He was not scared of them attacking him. Even if they did, it would not take Latias less than half a second to react. It was all that was needed to use their power for a psychic.

Gladion's voice was hard. "Return your Pokémon to their balls. Drop the balls on the ground. Latias will hold you until officials arrive to arrest you. And you would answer every question they ask truthfully. Or you would find out what it feels like when a psychic legendary enters your mind to pull out information."

The Team Rocket members nodded hurriedly as they moved fast to comply with what Gladion asked. They returned their Pokémon without a word to their pokeballs and then threw theirPoké Balls a little ahead in piles.

Latias used her telekinesis to gather every ball into one neat stack. Then invisible psychic bindings wrapped around each person. They could not move arms or legs. They stood like statues, fear in their eyes.

Gladion nodded with approval.

Latios fhad almost inished checking the wreckage when he felt something. A human and a strong psychic Pokémon still lived inside the ruins. The Alakazam had gathered enough energy to teleport.

"No you don't," Latios mumbled.

He spread his power and locked the area. Teleport became almost impossible. But the Alakazam was skilled. It managed to send the human away in a flash. The Alakazam stayed behind though.

The Alakazam fired a bright Psybeam. The attack was strong and fast which told that this Pokemon was on a league of his own compared to the other Pokemon that they have faced today.

Latios moved to the side easily. He answered with his own Psybeam. The Light Screen the Alakazam raised broke like glass. Latios's attack sent the Alakazam flying into broken concrete. It did not get up.

Latios moved to tell this to Gladion.

Gladion looked at the sea of eggs Latias had uncovered. She had used psychic power to dig carefully under the old base.

Thousands of eggs lay in neat rows. Most sat in simple containers. Fragile ones rested in safe incubators. In the centre stood one special incubator. The egg inside glowed with powerful fire energy.

Gladion smiled. He could keep his promise to Moltres.

Latios flew to Gladion. "Someone has managed to escaped. A strong Alakazam teleported a human away. I stopped the Alakazam. All I could tell was that the one who escaped was a female human."

'A female huh? The female team rocket executive? I don't remember her having an alkahazam in the games.' Gladion thought

Then he noticed something strange. The captured Team Rocket members stared at the discovered eggs with confusion. They looked shocked. Some whispered to each other. It was as if they did not that they had the eggs.

Gladion understood in a flash. Why Giovanni had left a visible trail on purpose. Why bo executives were here to protect such valuable eggs. Why The grunts did not even know the eggs existed.

Everything clicked.

He gritted his teeth and mumbled. "We have been had."
