A forest stretched before Altair's eyes, lush and verdant, exuding a comforting aura unlike any he'd felt in previous woodlands. His passive ability instantly connected him to this world's ley lines, revealing a reservoir of magical energy far greater than that of the Nasuverse.
"A world brimming with magic." He murmured. Though its nature was unclear, the overwhelming power in the ley lines suggested a realm steeped in sorcery.
Was his coveted holy sword truly here? Time to find out what kind of world this was.
When the Greater Grail granted his wish, it had asked for specifics. Altair described a sword based on the anime and games he knew: one with anti-magic properties, effective against mages and capable of nullifying all forms of energy; a blade of high enough rank to slay gods. His God-Slaying Fang, inspired by a certain spear-wielding hero who forged weapons from his teeth, was effective but unbefitting a knight. As the Knight King, Altair needed a holy sword worthy of his title.
Ideally, it would also transform into a silver-haired beauty, his perfectly reasonable preference.
"Let's find my holy sword." He said, raising his left hand. A compass of condensed magical energy materialized, its needle pointing the way. The Greater Grail, thoughtful in its aid, had provided this despite not guaranteeing a return trip.
[Compass of the Heart]
[Points toward the direction of your heart's desire.]
With his mind fixed on a supreme holy sword that could become a silver-haired beauty, the compass would guide him to its location.
"Alright, that way." Altair said, summoning his golden cloud and soaring in the direction indicated. After some time, the needle began spinning wildly, puzzling him. Suspecting a pattern, he directed the cloud to circle the area. The needle stabilized, consistently pointing to a central point as he orbited.
"So it's in this region." He concluded, leaping from the cloud. The drop was short, and he landed lightly.
To his surprise, he wasn't alone. A black-haired boy in a tattered cloak and black glove stood nearby, staring in confusion. Beside him, in a pristine pond, was a fiery red-haired girl, completely bare, not even wearing undergarments, gaping at Altair and the boy in shock.
"Well, this is unexpected." Altair remarked, sensing a familiar trope. "A boy, a naked girl in a pond, this reeks of a classic anime setup."
The boy and girl's stunned expressions only heightened the awkwardness. Altair couldn't resist appreciating the scene. Small but fair-skinned, the girl was a sight worth savoring. Likely this world's protagonist's future love interest, she was fair game for a guilt-free glance.
The boy, noticing Altair's unabashed stare, fumbled for words. Meanwhile, the girl's expression shifted from shock to fury, tears welling in her eyes as her cheeks flushed crimson.
"You… you perverts!" She shrieked. A gust of wind erupted from her, lifting Altair's bangs.
"Oh, a burst of magical energy!" Altair exclaimed.
"It's divine might, she's a Spirit User!" The boy warned, grabbing Altair's arm. "Run, she's about to lose it!"
"Wait, what did you say?" Altair asked, startled.
"She's a Spirit User! We can't fight her, run!" The boy turned to flee, but the girl gave no quarter. Her right hand summoned a whip of blazing flames.
"Obey my command, Scarlet!" She cried. The fiery whip lashed the pond, evaporating water into steam that veiled her body in a holy glow, obscuring Altair's view.
"Perverts! Deviants! Die!" The flaming whip shot from the mist, striking the ground where they stood.
"Jump!" The boy yanked Altair back, dodging the attack.
"Die!" The girl roared, still enraged, swinging again. The whip hit a nearby tree, toppling it. In her fury, she lost her grip, and the whip flew from her hand.
"Idiot, watch out!" The boy sprinted forward, tackling the girl out of the falling tree's path.
Altair leaped to avoid the splash of water and debris, landing on the fallen tree. Below, in the pond, the boy lay atop the girl, his right hand inadvertently on her chest, small, but unmistakably there.
"This is too cliché!" Altair blurted, recognizing the overused harem trope. The boy's mention of "Spirit User" clicked, revealing the world's identity.
"Hey, kid!" Altair called to the boy below.
"Huh?" The boy looked up, still sprawled over the girl.
Altair gave a thumbs-up, grinning approvingly. "Nice wife you've got there!"
