When Evan and the others appeared again, they had already entered the ruins.

Evan's shoes were soaked, stepping into the muddy water as they moved forward. Despite the inconvenience, he had no choice but to press on. Marshadow, the little Pokémon, had already vanished into the shadow space, melding seamlessly with the wall.

"Mar~!" Marshadow waved before walking further inside. Seeing this, Evan hurriedly followed—it wasn't the time to worry about his shoes.

"Gardevoir, use Thunder Punch and keep the charge," Evan commanded. The surroundings were pitch black, with nothing visible. Gardevoir followed his instructions, and the resulting sparks illuminated the area. Noticing this, Gallade also used Thunder Punch, adding to the brightness and revealing the path more clearly. With the light guiding them, Evan proceeded forward without hesitation.

"Sho-sho-sho~~!" The sound of splashing water accompanied Evan's steps in the narrow passage. After traversing the stagnant water, they reached a dry area. Evan shook the water off his shoes before continuing. Guided by Marshadow, the group passed through countless abandoned rooms, most filled with nothing but decayed remnants, before finally arriving at a massive stone gate.

Marshadow slipped through the gate effortlessly, leaving Evan speechless. "Is this little guy expecting us to figure out how to get through?" Evan muttered. Blasting the gate was too risky—it could collapse the entire structure. With no other choice, Evan turned to Gardevoir. "Let's use Teleport."

Following Evan's command, Gardevoir teleported him and Gallade into a grand palace. Unlike the oppressive darkness outside, the palace was illuminated—though the light came from eerie sources. Chandelure hovered around, their glowing bodies casting flickering light on the walls. The sight of the Chandelure made Evan frown. "How did they end up like this?" he murmured, studying their peculiar forms, which seemed almost decorative yet unmistakably real.

Murals adorned the palace walls, but their abstract style was incomprehensible. Evan scanned the room until his eyes fell on Marshadow, who stood in a pile of hay nearby, watching them silently.

"Is this your home?" Evan asked, his gaze drifting from the Pokémon to the mysterious murals around them.

Hearing Evan's question, Marshadow nodded.

"Marshadow~!!"

Yes, this was its home.

Evan nodded in acknowledgment before asking, "Marshadow, can you tell me where this Pure Z-Crystal was found? I want to take a look."

The palace before him was massive, its walls covered with murals. Logically, there had to be something extraordinary where the Pure Z-Crystal was originally placed.

Marshadow didn't refuse the request. Instead, it pointed toward a side passage.

"Marshadow~~!!"

There.

Evan turned to look in the indicated direction. At first glance, the passage was so inconspicuous that it could have easily been overlooked. Once he spotted it, Evan didn't hesitate and made his way over.

The palace, though grand, offered little else of note apart from the murals depicting various Pokémon. The only other items were peculiar odds and ends Marshadow had collected: fragments of shattered Poké Balls—likely the remains of failed attempts to capture it—along with a few tree fruits, most of which were leftover scraps with sprouted husks. Clearly, the little Pokémon wasn't keen on tidying up.

Evan stepped into the passage and began walking. After a while, he arrived at a chamber that resembled a study.

The study was in disarray, with ancient books scattered about. Unfortunately, the texts were so decayed and rotten that they were completely illegible, devoid of any research value.

Evan's attention shifted to the murals adorning the room. Beneath the artwork were several opened boxes. He didn't need much imagination to deduce that this was where Marshadow had found the Z-Pure Crystal.

Evan glanced around briefly before refocusing on the murals. He was stunned by the depictions.

"Necrozma?" he murmured, astonished.

"And its ultimate form!"

The realization struck him hard. The figure engraved on the mural—its body adorned with two pairs of wings—was none other than Necrozma's ultimate form.

In the mural, Necrozma was depicted battling a majestic figure resembling an alpaca, adorned with eighteen glowing dots.

"Arceus," Evan murmured, his voice filled with awe.

"And there's space-time... Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina?" he added, recognizing the forms of the legendary Pokémon.

"Was it really this intense?" he wondered aloud, thoroughly impressed.

Some details of the mural were too worn to make out clearly, but the scenes depicted left Evan utterly perplexed.

"Necrozma and Arceus... fighting?" he questioned. "Is this real or just legend?"

He stared at the mural, feeling both amazed and baffled.

"Darn it!" Evan exclaimed, unable to contain his shock.

The scene overwhelmed him.

"Necrozma?" Gardevoir asked curiously. It recognized Arceus and the legendary trio of time and space as the creators of the Pokémon world, but Necrozma was entirely unfamiliar to it.

Marshadow also glanced at the mural, sharing Gardevoir's curiosity. Despite being a mythical Pokémon itself, Marshadow's knowledge of other mythical Pokémon was limited. It only knew Mew, Ho-Oh, and the trio of Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.

Hearing Gardevoir's question, Evan shifted his focus to the mural and began to explain.

"Necrozma," he started, "is an incredibly powerful Pokémon."

"It's a Psychic type and one of the strongest there is," he continued, his admiration evident.

"Even though it comes from another dimension and is classified as an Ultra Beast, it can still be captured in a Poké Ball, so it's considered a Pokémon."

Evan's words resonated with both Gardevoir and Marshadow, though their expressions suggested they were still processing this information.
