Chapter 184 - Chapter 184: Wrath of Fire

Kanron had been serving as Gym Leader for over a decade, specializing in training Fire-type Trainers. Consequently, his research on Fire-type Pokémon has spanned many years.

Throughout this ongoing study and cultivation of Fire-type Pokémon, he continually explored the limits of Fire-type moves. While progress was made over the years, it never reached his ideal expectations.

For a Pokémon to unleash stronger moves, they primarily rely on learning through Move Disks and gaining insights. Achieving new moves solely through their own efforts is considered nearly impossible.

Despite Kanron's unwavering dedication, actual advancement remained slow. His mind teemed with countless ideas, yet none could be realized due to the extraordinary control power required—something only Legendary Pokémon were capable of achieving.

However, at this moment, Kanron confirmed he wasn't mistaken; this Charmeleon spontaneously generated swirling flames, effectively countering Rapidash's charge.

The immense control power needed to spin flames at such high speeds is virtually unimaginable.

This Charmeleon is truly terrifying!

"Let's end the battle now!" Kanron suddenly declared. He no longer wished to continue fighting, as his curiosity about this Charmeleon outweighed any desire for combat.

Kanron was visibly excited, as he knew ordinary Pokémon couldn't achieve such mastery. This level of control is typically reserved for Legendary Pokémon, yet Charmeleon managed to pull it off.

"Huh?" Kalia, taken aback, asked, "Why did you suddenly stop the battle?"

Kanron shook his head and retrieved the Flame Badge from his pocket, stating, "There's no need to continue; you've proven worthy enough to receive this Flame Badge directly."

"But the battle isn't over yet," Kalia responded, feeling somewhat surprised at obtaining the badge so easily.

"Actually, within the Fire-type Gym, aside from defeating me, meeting a specific requirement allows one to instantly earn the badge. Your Charmeleon has already achieved that criterion. As for details, I'd like to discuss further with you," Kanron said, his voice filled with anticipation. He was immensely intrigued and wanted to understand how this Charmeleon possessed such exceptional fire element control.

"Alright." Kalia could tell that Kanron had lost interest in continuing the battle, making any forced continuation pointless.

"Could you have your Charmeleon perform that move again?" Kanron requested, needing further confirmation.

Kalia glanced at Lian, who promptly stepped back and conjured flames out of thin air. Slowly at first, then gradually increasing speed, the flames began to whirl around his body, spinning faster and faster.

Kanron meticulously observed the swirling flames. Witnessing it for the second time was still astonishing; he found it hard to believe a Charmeleon could exhibit such mastery over fire.

"You must have trained your Charmeleon for quite some time," Kanron remarked. "To reach this level, aside from exceptional talent, it surely requires rigorous effort and training." The Charmeleon's astounding natural abilities were evident; even after nurturing Fire-type Pokémon for over a decade, none had achieved such proficiency, highlighting the significant gap between them.

"Not really long," Kalia clarified, having obtained her Charmeleon less than three months ago. Its growth primarily relied on its inherent talents.

"Well, perhaps closer to a year then? Reaching this level within a year is truly remarkable, but it wouldn't be possible without intense training. How do you train your Charmeleon?" Kanron inquired.

"I...," Kalia hesitated, unsure how to respond. Should she mention that she only caught Charmeleon two months ago? As for training, it primarily involved continuous battling.

"Every Trainer has their own secrets, no worries." Observing Kalia's uncertainty, Kanron decided not to press further on this topic.

"I'd like to learn more about your Charmeleon. Being at the Fire-type Gym, I've been extensively studying Fire-type moves. Could you tell me how many Fire-type moves your Charmeleon has mastered?" Kanron continued.

Kalia thought for a moment and replied, "Probably around eight." Including the recent Flame Tornado and the earlier Spiral Flames used against the Dark Guild member, that made a total of eight Fire-type moves.

The list comprised Ember, Fire Fang, Flamethrower, Fire Spin, Will-O-Wisp, Flame Burst, Flame Tornado, and Flame Spiral.

Since Lian hadn't utilized Fire Punch during the battle, Kalia was unaware that he had already mastered it.

Kanron nodded appreciatively; mastering eight moves is quite impressive. Charmeleons have limited Fire-type moves they can learn, so controlling eight undoubtedly indicates exceptional talent.

"Given your Charmeleon's exceptional talent, could I ask you for a favor?" Kanron suddenly spoke with genuine sincerity.

In truth, he had long harbored a daring idea but had never succeeded despite many years of trying. Now, Kalia's Charmeleon met his requirements, making it possible to attempt this once again.

"What kind of favor?" Kalia asked curiously.

"I've developed my own Fire-type move, which no Pokemon has been able to learn so far. I later realized that only exceptionally gifted Pokemon can comprehend it, unfortunately, I haven't encountered one until now."

"However, seeing your Charmeleon, I believe he holds great potential to master this move. Would you allow him to give it a try?"

Lian found this intriguing. As the Gym Leader of the Fire-type Gym and an expert in this field, any self-created move by Kanron would undoubtedly be more powerful than anything Lian could devise on his own.

"A self-created move?" Kalia was slightly taken aback. Moves were typically learned either through a Pokemon's natural understanding or via Move Disks; she hadn't considered the possibility of creating new ones.

Although Charmeleon had also used variations of its moves, they were essentially evolutions rather than entirely new creations.

"Yes, this self-created move took me a long time to develop, drawing inspiration from numerous existing techniques. Unfortunately, later I realized how naive I was."

"It's called Wrath of Fire God. After extensively studying all Fire-type moves and deeply understanding fire energy, I devised this unique Fire-type attack."

"I have a custom-made simulation video here, based on the characteristics of fire energy, which demonstrates the Wrath of Fire God. Please follow me."

Lian and Kalia accompanied Kanron to a room within the gym filled with research equipment, indicating that Kanron frequently conducted studies here.

From a hidden corner, Kanron retrieved a package, extracted a disc, and it became clear that the simulated video of Wrath of Fire God was stored on it.

Curiously, Lian turned his attention to the display screen, feeling a sense of anticipation. The name "Wrath of Fire God" sounded incredibly impressive, but he wondered if it truly lived up to its name.

As the screen lit up, a massive mountain appeared before their eyes. Since it was just a simulated move demonstration, the setting didn't require much consideration.

The move was demonstrated by a Magmortar, presumably Kanron's own Pokémon. As the video played, Kanron provided commentary alongside.

Magmortar gazed towards the sky, and within a second, numerous flames began to coalesce overhead.

These small flames continuously fell from the sky like a meteor shower, raining down relentlessly.

Upon impact with the ground, each flame exploded instantly. The fiery rain persisted for a significant duration, showcasing that despite their small size, the explosions carried considerable force.

"This is just a simulated version, so it may appear somewhat unrealistic. However, I've developed it as a true executable move."

"You're likely familiar with Sandstorm and Hail, right? Wrath of Fire God was created by mimicking these moves. Although Fire-type Pokémon have Sunny Day to enhance their attacks, they have always lacked sustained consumption capabilities.

"I devised Wrath of Fire God with the hope of providing Fire-type Pokémon with a unique, continuous consumption move exclusive to their type. However, mastering the control over fire energy required for this move is exceptionally high, making its practical execution currently theoretical."

After reviewing Wrath of Fire God, Lian couldn't help but marvel at Kanron's genius. With his current 40% Fire Element Mastery, he fully grasped the potential power of this move.

A prolonged shower of flaming embers, further amplified by Sunny Day, was truly remarkable. Although it required high mastery, Lian had the advantage of the system, allowing him to enhance his Control Rating and ultimately unleash the move.

However, there were drawbacks. This technique resembled weather effects and could be overridden by other weather conditions, preventing its use. Nonetheless, its ability to stack with Sunny Day made it incredibly potent.
