Chapter One Hundred and Eighty-Three
Asli shut the door behind her with more force than necessary and leaned into it for a second, eyes closed, and her breath shallow. The night clung to her skin. She replayed everything, from her mission to their arguments. Ahmet's voice still lodged somewhere in her chest. She was having too many thoughts and too many feelings she didn't have time for.
She stripped out of her clothes and stepped under the shower, letting the water pound against her shoulders until it almost hurt. The heat didn't wash anything away, but it steadied her hands. That was something. It felt good.
When she came back into the room, a towel wrapped tight around her head, her steps slowed.
Something sat on the bed. She could see that it was placed roughly and angrily.
