Chapter 296 - Chapter 296: Astonishing Talent, the Spell Repository, and Heliodor's "Reward"

"Collect the morning tears of fairies at dawn, let them evaporate naturally under the sun, then freeze them with ice magic, repeating the process three times..."

Ronan gently tapped the crystal jar, his fingers scraping against the jar's walls, producing a harsh noise. Inside the jar, a naked, handsome little figure covered its ears and wept sorrowfully.

Unmoved, Ronan used his mental energy to extract each tear drop by drop. Having been with Heliodor for so long, he now understood why this ancient fairy was so melancholic—it was the result of being constantly forced to cry for its tears.

"Resonate the juice of the Moon Willow with the light of runes for the duration of ten hourglasses..."

"The first sprout of blue vine that breaks through the soil after a heavy rain, preserving the particles of pure soil on its roots..."

"Burn the tail feather of a third-tier golden-winged bird with magic, and collect the ashes after the third breath..."

Ronan skillfully handled various magical ingredients. After processing each material, he hesitated slightly before calmly combining them in different sequences and methods.

Finally, a translucent potion emitting a faint, colorful phosphorescence appeared in Ronan's hand.

He picked up the crystal vial and took a small sip, giving himself a "near-perfect" evaluation.

On his character panel, under the skill section, [Potion Making] displayed a proficiency of (Master 34/1600), followed by the fourth-tier healing potion—[Unicorn's Healing Tears] (Beginner 2/100). As Ronan gently placed the prepared potion on the workbench, Heliodor's voice suddenly rang out behind him.

"You've overstepped."

Ronan's fingers twitched slightly, and faint ripples of color appeared in the potion vial he hadn't yet let go of.

He withdrew his hand and spoke calmly, "You allowed me five failures for each ingredient. This was within those five attempts."

"That doesn't justify you taking liberties with my materials."

Heliodor slowly walked up from behind Ronan, bent down, and squinted as he carefully examined the [Unicorn's Healing Tears] Ronan had just prepared. He unscrewed the cap and took a light sniff.

"Not bad... at least it's not a waste."

He straightened up and looked at Ronan.

"Three months, and you've processed nearly six hundred potions without guidance, not even counting the time you spent on your own cultivation..."

Heliodor clasped his hands behind his back and said leisurely, "You have quite a talent for potion making and alchemy..."

Ronan shook his head, "I'm still far from the goal you expected."

Heliodor smiled but said nothing.

Ronan waited for a while, but when Heliodor remained silent, he took the initiative to speak, "I've finished today's tasks. I'll take my leave now."

Ronan gave a simple bow to Heliodor and then turned to walk toward the exit of the space.

Having become quite familiar with Silver Coin during this time, the large white cat stretched lazily and got up from the grass, ready to open the door for him.

Just as Ronan was about to reach the small door at the exit, Heliodor's voice called out from behind.

"Wait."

Ronan stopped and, as he turned, he caught sight of something being tossed toward him from the sleeve of Heliodor's Wizard Robe.

He raised his hand and caught it, realizing it was a golden badge engraved with the image of a spirit lake and deep sea, emitting a faint ripple of runic energy.

"The Spell Repository, fourth floor, the third pillar on the far left."

Hailiodor stood in front of his laboratory bench, speaking without looking up, "The reward you asked for, part of it is there. Remember to return it after you're done."

Ronan was momentarily stunned, then bowed deeply to Hailiodor in gratitude.

The practice of the "Ancient Star Meditation Technique" and [Ascetic Body Forging] had given him unparalleled control over his mental and physical muscles, allowing him to perform many subtle operations that even third-level wizards could not easily achieve.

With the assistance of his character panel and the constant guidance of Alazan, a living fossil in the wizard world, Ronan's progress in potionology and alchemy was astonishingly rapid.

He had never hidden this fact and had even deliberately showcased his remarkable talent in these two areas.

All for this very moment.

It wasn't until Ronan's figure completely disappeared at the exit of the spatial realm that Hailiodor stopped what he was doing and slowly looked up.

"Truly a dazzling talent, no wonder he received an unprecedented ten-star evaluation in the Tower of Knowledge."

"So what if his soul aptitude is a bit lacking? Isn't the pursuit of wizards knowledge and truth?"

"Those guys... just can't see that."

Hailiodor beckoned, and a large white cat leaped into his arms. He gently stroked the cat's smooth, silky fur, murmuring, "Silver Coin, what do you think?"

"The Spell Repository..."

For the first time in three months, Ronan did not return directly to his residence after leaving Hailiodor's laboratory. Instead, he used a spell to open another door by the lake, hurriedly walking through a series of winding crystal corridors, finally arriving in front of a soft, glossy ivory-white building.

The building resembled two enormous whale mouths pressed closely together.

The entrance on the left led to the "Spirit Script Repository." Ronan thought of the gray books recording ancient spirit scripts he had seen in the Tower of Knowledge.

Although he had the desire to enter and browse, his primary purpose for coming here was not the remaining ancient spirit scripts.

Suppressing the impulse to change his destination, Ronan slowly walked into the second entrance.

This entrance led to the Spell Repository of the Deep Sea faction, as the name suggests, the place where the Deep Sea faction's spells were passed down.

Walking on the mirror-smooth ground polished from crystal, the arched ceiling above twinkled with star-like lighting crystals, emitting a soft glow.

Occasionally, fellow wizards from the Deep Sea faction would walk towards Ronan, and both parties would politely greet each other.

After completely walking through this solemn and magnificent corridor, what appeared before Ronan was a grand hall filled with orderly glowing pillars.

Each glowing pillar had a different color, each representing the knowledge inheritance of a certain spell. Several Deep Sea wizards moved about the hall, stopping in front of a pillar, or shaking their heads and moving on to the next.

Ronan's arrival went unnoticed by anyone, the hall was quiet.

He casually approached a glowing pillar, instinctively wanting to take out the rune emblem given by Hailiodor, but after a moment's thought, he decided against it. Instead, he took out his own Deep Sea emblem and gently pressed it against the glowing surface of the pillar.

It was as if the right key had opened the corresponding lock. Some runes immediately floated out from the cylindrical pillar, followed by a small piece of information flooding into Ronan's mind—a third-tier water spell, [Fury of the Tides]. Only the name of the spell was revealed, without its corresponding content.

To exchange for the complete inheritance, one needed to undergo an identity verification and then deduct the corresponding contribution points or spend magic stones.

Ronan did not continue. He searched around and found the entrance to the second floor, heading upward.

At the spiraling staircase entrance, there was a Rune Array blocking the way, but it posed no obstacle to Ronan. He ascended to the second floor of the spell repository.

The second floor also had rows of inheritance pillars, though their number was significantly fewer.

Ronan casually selected one to examine. Here, the spell inheritance had become fourth-tier spells, which only fourth-tier Dawn Wizards were qualified to learn.

Without further ado, he continued upward.

The Rune Array at the staircase leading from the second to the third floor blocked Ronan, indicating that the permissions granted by his identity badge ended here.

Ronan then took out the identity badge given by Haliado and effortlessly broke through the array.

As soon as he stepped into the third floor of the repository, Ronan heard the sound of tides, followed by a vast and surging spiritual force akin to the ocean sweeping over him. In a daze, an illusion appeared before his eyes—three towering walls of deep blue waves slowly crushing toward him.

Fifth-tier!

Ronan's heart tightened, and he hurriedly raised Haliado's golden badge in front of him.

The spiritual force gently brushed past him and then quickly retracted, disappearing in an instant.

The illusion vanished, and Ronan saw a woman standing in the hall of the third-floor repository. She wore a deep blue Wizard Robe adorned with gold, her short hair jet black, and she calmly withdrew her gaze from him.

Ronan lowered his head and walked straight toward the passage leading to the fourth floor of the repository.

The fifth-tier female wizard's spiritual force swept over again, "watching" him until he had completely left the third floor.

"Whew—"

Ronan stepped onto the floor of the fourth floor of the repository and let out a long breath, easing the pressure in his heart.

In the south, fourth-tier wizards were rarely seen in daily life, yet in the central region, fifth-tier wizards seemed to be everywhere.

Perhaps it was because he was now in Spirit Lake.

Calming his emotions, he looked around.

The grand hall of the fourth-floor repository was empty, with only about ten inheritance pillars standing quietly, each much thicker and more exquisite than those on the previous three floors.

Ronan approached one and tried to use Haliado's golden badge to examine it, but received a "failure" response.

He couldn't help but frown.

The "permissions" Haliado had given him seemed to only grant him access to this place, not even the qualification to view the names of the inheritances.

After several attempts with the same result, he gave up and walked toward one side of the hall.

"The third inheritance pillar on the far left."

He softly recited the hint Haliado had given him and slowly walked to the target inheritance pillar.

Upon seeing the condition of the pillar, his eyes couldn't help but tremble slightly.

This was a hollow cylindrical pillar, unlike any of the other inheritance pillars.

At the center of the pillar, countless tiny rune lights were tightly wrapped around a deep purple, crystal-like scale.

The crystal scale had some fragmented lights flowing across it, presenting a beauty and vastness akin to the starry sky.

Ronan's gaze was fixed in a daze as he reached out his hand, attempting to touch the mysterious amethyst-like scale through the glowing cylindrical wall.

The moment his fingers made contact with the cylinder, the three Mental Power Crystals within his consciousness space, which had already partially engraved the Law-Controlling runes, suddenly trembled violently. This tremor resonated with a crystal armband deep within the space ring on his finger, causing it to quiver as well.

In the next instant, an unparalleled radiance burst forth!

Simultaneously, the amethyst scale inside the cylinder seemed to respond to some unseen signal. The chains of runes on its surface began to unravel layer by layer, and a series of peculiar waves slowly emanated through the cylinder.

"Hum—"

In that fleeting moment, Ronan felt as though he had silently connected with an ancient force of the same origin.

His consciousness plummeted into an endless sea of stars, his eyes glazed over, and only a soft murmur escaped his lips.

"Hailiodor was right..."

"The Spirit Lake... truly holds the legacy of Herams!"

At the same time.

Within the Spirit Lake's secret realm, in a certain space, within a certain chamber.

A tall and upright figure with long, silvery hair as fine and exquisite as mithril abruptly awoke from meditation.

His eyes snapped open.

In those same silver eyes, a deep and misty purple light, reminiscent of the starry sky, erupted at that very moment.
