Selira woke up slowly, but she did not open her eyes right away. Her mind was still foggy from the fight. The last thing she remembered was the huge wolf with one side burning red and the other side covered in ice. She remembered the terrible energy ball forming in its mouth. She had known in that moment that she was going to die. There had been no time to run, no strength left to block. Everything had gone black after that.
But now she was alive.
She could feel her head resting on something. It was soft in some places and hard in others. Maybe a person's legs? There was warmth coming from under her head and from the body that held her. Her whole body still hurt a little, but the pain was dull, like old wounds that were already closing. Someone had given her very good healing medicine. That meant someone had saved her. But who? She tried to think, but then a new rush of cold wind slipped into the shelter and made her whole body shiver again. The thought stopped.
