In the Guards Chambers Gabrielle stood, thoughts of the letter taking over her mind.
She scanned the room looking at the weapons that dressed the walls and that sat in holders on shelves.
She walked over to the shelf. Each step she took weighed her legs down making them feel heavy. She stared at the weapons before her, seeing a sword, she ran her fingers across the flat part of the blade.
She picked up the sword and walked over to a training dummy, dragging the blade to the sword behind her against the floor.
She stood before the dummy, staring at it. Held back tears, stinging her eyes, turning them bright red.
She gripped the handle of the sword tightly with both hands.
'I just wanted to live in peace,'
She swung the sword hitting the dummy.
'I didn't want to cause any trouble,'
She swung the sword hitting the dummy once more.
'All I ever wanted to do is have a happy life… I never asked for any of this,'
