Chapter 212: The Red Dragon Arrives
Wagner took a step forward, instantly teleporting to stand before Langpu, bypassing the mirrored barrier, and lightly tapping the medal on his chest.
A powerful mental force immediately enveloped Langpu.
[Dominate Human]
However, Langpu, covered by that force, remained expressionless, without the slightest reaction, even waving his staff to cast Fireball.
Facing the incoming fireball, he summoned a black energy shield, once again obliterating the fireball, while Wagner's voice from behind the dark curtain initially held some surprise, then turned excited.
"I understand now."
"Hahaha, you're not human. So, you're not human either!"
Langpu's disguise was purely to waste Wagner's spell slots, knowing that [Dominate Human] was one of his frequently used spells.
Realizing his true identity had been exposed, the ogre mage let out a roar, instantly tearing off all disguises, revealing his hideous true form.
Immediately, the corridor darkened abruptly, and the enormous shadow almost covered Wagner.
The six-meter-tall Dragonblood Ogre stood towering in the dim tunnel, its massive and burly body covered in dragon scales. Sharp bone spurs jutted out from its knees, elbows, and back, and small bone-white horns protruded from its forehead. The snout of its ugly face unnaturally jutted forward.
"After being bound for so long, I can finally let loose. Let me kill you!"
Langpu looked down at Wagner from above, his nostrils flaring with thick smoke laced with the stench of sulfur, and his staff blazed with intertwined scorching yellow-green flames as he swung it towards Wagner's head—that was [Enchanted Weapon] and [Verdant Flame Sword].
For some reason, Wagner simply gazed up at Langpu foolishly, without any attempt to evade.
The flame-infused staff struck down hard on his head, triggering [Chain Contingency] with [Oteluuk's Resilient Sphere], as a faintly glowing spherical force field instantly emerged, repelling Langpu's staff and shielding Wagner.
Langpu was blown back by the force, his enormous body crashing to the ground, causing a thunderous noise.
Yet Wagner remained entranced, staring at him as if looking at the finest artwork, muttering, "I finally found it, the perfect creation."
Then he began trembling all over, laughing wildly as he clutched his face.
"Hahaha, it's not some intangible thing. It is, indeed, a real perfect creation."
"You, you're not one of those so-called 'players', are you?"
Seeing that his opponent's gaze contained not fear, but a gluttonous greed, a nameless rage instantly filled the Dragonblood Ogre's heart.
Langpu ground his teeth and said, "As expected, you're a lunatic."
But Wagner was inside the force sphere. Without a spell like Disintegrate, it was difficult to break through, even for Langpu.
After a long time, Wagner finally moved again.
He casually dismissed the [Oteluuk's Resilient Sphere] around him, staggering as he walked straight ahead.
Langpu couldn't help but glance at the Cataclysmic Dragon Eye beside him, only to see himself being held in a spell's grip. He quickly waved his staff, trying to preemptively counter the spell, but Wagner didn't give him any chance, releasing a purple ray from his fingertips.
[Hold Monster]
The spell was extremely potent, instantly spreading across Langpu upon contact, forming a flickering light film that immobilized the massive Dragonblood Ogre, freezing him mid-cast.
Wagner approached leisurely, grinning from ear to ear.
He floated up beside the ogre, whispering softly:
"My dear experiment, did you think I could only control humans with my spells?"
"I've conducted thousands of dragonification experiments. As the 'Dragon-Mad Black Mage', what I do best is control monsters like you—"
"Crack. Crack."
A faint cracking sound emerged.
"Oh?"
Wagner's face revealed a hint of surprise.
The light film on Langpu's body suddenly shattered, and one of the skulls on him automatically released [Dispel Magic] when it detected his body being controlled.
"Die!"
The freed Dragonblood Ogre roared, spewing several searing fireballs with erratic trajectories from different directions, trying to incinerate the defenseless, close-by Wagner. Simultaneously, Langpu's staff swung towards Wagner's head.
Facing the sudden, overwhelming assault, Wagner vanished calmly, leaving behind a plume of silvery smoke.
He grinned at Langpu from a distance, raising his hand lightly.
[Dragonblood Shackles]
Countless chains resembling dragon limbs rose from the ground.
It was a seventh-tier spell, unaffected by [Dispel Magic] or [Spell Immunity Field].
Unexpectedly, Langpu's staff adjusted its direction as if predicting this, pointing straight at Wagner. The medallion on his chest, [Bennett's Wisdom], also released a pale purple ray.
[Hold Monster]
This time, it was Langpu's turn to cast it.
Just as the ray was released, Langpu was bound by the [Dragonblood Shackles], tied in place, those sinister chains, resembling dragon limbs, writhing slowly on his massive frame, greedily siphoning the dragon blood from the Dragonblood Ogre.
However, Langpu's Hold Monster also hit Wagner, causing him to freeze completely.
Yet at the very last moment before being held, the black mage's eyes still reflected a look of disdain and provocation, as if to say, "What can you possibly do to me?"
It should be noted that [Hold Monster] required "Spell Concentration" to maintain, meaning Langpu would lose focus and control over it shortly.
However, [Dragonblood Shackles], Wagner's custom-made spell against Dragonblood creatures, behaved like a living organism, continually drawing dragon blood from its target to sustain itself.
From the perspective of this "Dragon-Mad Black Mage", this mutual blood exchange left him at an undeniable advantage. The cunning Wagner felt utterly pleased with himself.
In those few moments, the light film indicating the Hold Monster spell on Wagner, which lacked the required concentration, began to waver and crack, and he was about to break free.
But what he did not know was that, just before being bound, a dark smile appeared on Langpu's face, hinting his scheme had succeeded.
He still had [Cataclysmic Dragon Eye]!
Wagner assumed that the floating eye following Langpu was simply a divination spell cast by Langpu and that he could deal with it once the ogre was bound.
But what Wagner had no way of knowing was that the true master of [Cataclysmic Dragon Eye] was Cassius, who was silently observing everything from a thousand miles away.
And Cassius was waiting for this exact moment!
In an instant, the invisible floating eye flared with blinding light, unleashing all the stored immense elemental power!
"Boom—"
A searing white pillar of fire erupted from it, heading straight for the immobilized head of Wagner!
[Maximized Fire Breath]
Simultaneously, a giant claw covered in crimson scales tore through the air, creating a fiery ten-meter-long spatial rift.
Cassius's massive and fearsome dragon head emerged from it.
"Roar—"
