Chapter 337: Revenge
High in the sky, surrounded by scorching hurricanes.
Cassius's pupils shifted constantly, alternating between clear pale gold and mottled blood-red.
"Roar… roar…"
The Red Dragon let out agitated low growls, and a bloody glow danced across the scales on his body. Deep crimson chaotic flames coiled around his massive dragon form.
Cassius's will wrestled with the will of destruction, battling for control of his body. He struggled painfully in the abyss of power, fighting against the desires buried deep in his bloodline.
"Cassius, stop!"
"Don't let that power control you! That's not the real you!"
Olivia called out anxiously again and again.
The Silver Dragon ignored the obstruction and desperately flapped her wings within the hurricane, trying to get close to the struggling Red Dragon—so much so that burns began to mark her slender silver body.
"Stop… now…"
"Hurry…"
Another gust of scorching wind roared past, blowing her several meters away. Olivia spread her wings, forcing out words through clenched teeth.
Behind a dirt mound on the ground, Leo Bosk raised his head, staring intently at the Red Dragon suspended in mid-air.
"Look… that's your best chance for revenge. The Red Dragon is losing his mind; he won't notice you."
"You will become the hero of the North and the supreme ruler of Anzeta."
The deep voice resounded once again in Leo's heart.
Yes…
It's all the Red Dragon's fault.
It was the Red Dragon who endangered Bosk's rule, destroyed his proud army, killed several of his heirs, and caused the Bosk family's thousand-year foundation to teeter on the brink of collapse.
Kill him.
Kill this Red Dragon, and he would have everything.
The Bosk family would forever rule the North, suspended in the sky like the sun and moon, never to fall for millennia.
The Duke of Bosk's pupils burned with endless hatred and the thrill of impending vengeance.
His lips quivered, and even his beard trembled.
"Quick, tell me."
"Please, tell me… what should I do?"
The voice chuckled and replied, "It's simple. Hatred is your weapon."
"Good."
Leo gritted his teeth, recalling the memories that filled him with anger and resentment. The hatred in his eyes grew deeper.
He didn't notice the growing cracks on his strong body, through which abyssal dark yellow light shone.
Soon, black smoke surged from Leo Bosk's hands. The chaotic mist gradually condensed into a black short spear.
The Spear of Vengeance.
It was a pure amalgamation of malice, extreme hatred, and abyssal energy.
"Good. Imagine the sight of your enemy's heart being pierced, and then throw it."
The voice carried a tone of joy.
"Go… die!"
"Red Dragon!"
Leo Bosk looked up at the Red Dragon in the sky. His crack-covered face twisted into a frenzied, maniacal smile as he hurled the spear with all his might.
"Whoosh—"
Abyssal turbulence surged upward, rushing toward the Red Dragon suspended in the sky.
However, the Silver Dragon in mid-air noticed everything.
"That's abyssal power?"
"No!"
Olivia fixed her gaze on the black spear tearing through the air, then looked at the still-struggling Red Dragon, her heart gripped with anxiety.
She cast protective spells one after another, yet none could hinder the Spear of Vengeance infused with chaos, not even slightly.
"I…"
"I can't let him be completely corrupted by that power."
Biting her silver teeth, determination flashed in Olivia's eyes.
In an instant, the young Silver Dragon flapped her wings with all her strength, deliberately intercepting the spear's trajectory, using her flesh and blood to shield Cassius.
"Awooo—"
Olivia let out a sharp wail.
The black spear mercilessly tore through her silver wing, continuing its path toward the sky.
The Silver Dragon fell powerlessly from mid-air, a ghastly wound marring her wing, its edges corroded by abyssal mist.
The sharp cry finally jolted Cassius fully awake. His pale golden slit pupils regained clarity.
"This is—
"Jezal Slak?"
The Red Dragon turned his head, his expression becoming incredibly solemn. He recognized the handiwork of the "Demon of Revenge" at a glance, identical to that of Koman earlier.
Without hesitation, he spewed a deep green anti-magic beam.
However, the chaotic energy in this spear was limited, seemingly meant only to incite Cassius's destructive desire and push him into madness. Thus, the anti-magic easily dissipated the oncoming Spear of Vengeance.
"Despicable human!"
"How dare you wield abyssal power!"
The severely injured Oszedro struggled to rise from the ground, roaring in both anger and shock.
As a defender of world balance, the ancient Silver Dragon had long led the Melward family against the abyss, making him all too familiar with such powers.
But he never imagined that this human noble from the remote North would become an agent of demons.
"Elder, it's too dangerous here. Let's leave quickly!"
"Your injuries are too severe; you can't fight anymore!"
Leonard and several Silver Dragons dragged the heavily injured Oszedro, creating a portal to take him away.
"Old fool, is this your beloved northern ally, a human corrupted by the abyss?"
"Is this the order you spoke of so highly?"
Cassius looked down at the ground, his face expressionless as he mocked.
"You've won, Cassius."
"Let's go."
Oszedro raised his head one last time to look at Cassius, saying nothing more. He transformed into a battered humanoid form and left with his younger Silver Dragons and retainers through the portal, departing the Anzeta Wasteland that had cost him dearly.
The Red Dragon tore through space, appearing before Leo Bosk. His broad wings cast a massive shadow, entirely engulfing the human noble standing below.
Humans were so insignificant in the presence of such a colossal being.
Leo Bosk's face turned pale as he looked up at the massive dragon form. His eyes were filled with resentment and despair, and his crack-covered head shook incessantly.
"No, no…"
"This isn't how it was supposed to be."
"I was supposed to kill you and become the supreme ruler of the North…"
"Boom—"
Before he could finish, a fiery explosion erupted, engulfing him entirely and turning the spot where he stood into a blazing inferno.
Cassius sighed. "Foolish human, yet another pawn blinded by the Demon of Revenge."
"But… things don't seem so simple."
Suddenly, a blurry figure appeared within the flames, accompanied by a low, sinister laugh.
"We meet again, Cassius."
"Tch, the great Abyssal Lord from millennia ago, imprisoned in the astral realm by the gods, reduced to possessing a mortal body—how pitiful."
Cassius watched the blurry figure warily, not forgetting to mock it.
"Cassius, we shall meet again soon."
"No matter how you struggle, you cannot escape the inevitable fate of the universe."
The flames continued to crackle as the demon's whispers echoed within.
The blurry figure vanished with a burst of lightning, leaving only a grotesque humanoid imprint scorched onto the nearby rock face.
