In this lifetime, aside from making it to the newspaper once when a massive gold mine was discovered, there has never been any buzz. Even the name was given after the discoverer of the gold mine.
A large population of outsiders grouped together with a small number of natives. During a riot over a hundred years ago, the local natives were massacred completely, and the outsiders occupied the area. Soon, religious, linguistic, and ethnic conflicts brewed incessantly, coupled with the gold mine as a Catalyst, not a day of peace was ever lived.
As soon as the shallow gold mines were nearly exhausted, and big companies were unwilling to invest due to the area's complex situation, poverty quickly returned, but chaos and conflict remained unchanged.
