Chen Ke had just hopped through the door when his foot sank into flesh and blood, the warm, sticky liquid seeping into his shoes through the seams. Three witches jumped in after him, and Lucina pinched her nose, complaining at once.
He smelled a pungent odor, the air around them like a putrid mix of vomit and feces.
"Are you sure we're in the right place?" Diana covered her mouth and nose, lighting a flame with her right hand to better see where they were.
In the flickering firelight, Chen Ke saw that the walls around them were a blend of milky white and blood red, with tiny blood vessels covering the chunks of flesh underfoot.
And in the center of this space was something like a cultivation tank, binding a skeleton inside.
"No mistake, this is the other side of the year 2137," Chen Ke said.
One step deep, another shallow, he moved toward the cultivation tank, the three witches following closely behind.
