Chapter 393: Suppression and True Form
"Ha! You feeble beings dare to dream of sealing me?" the massive red Evil Eye sneered, dark mist swirling around it and transforming into a colossal, thousand-foot hand that swung toward the woman in the blue gown, named Luo Liu.
With a swift motion, Luo Liu's hands wove a new seal, and towering water columns erupted from the Luo Water Pearl, shattering the demonic hand before forming a massive water array that enveloped the Evil Eye in a torrent of icy energy.
"World Devourer!" The Evil Eye's red light pulsed, sensing the impending threat. Black mist billowed, its intense coldness twisting the space around it.
With a deafening roar, the water array and the swirling black mist collided, sending tremors through the earth and sky. The powerful shockwaves flattened nearby mountains, leaving behind a wasteland of destruction.
A dark hand burst from the Evil Eye, landing a heavy blow against the Luo Water Pearl. With a resounding boom, the enormous pearl was thrown back, creating a vast crater where it struck the ground.
"Ha! This worthless pearl is much weaker than it used to be!" the Evil Eye mocked with glee.
"We'll see about that." Luo Liu's voice was icy, her blue eyes gleaming with determination. She raised her hand, summoning the Luo Water Pearl back to her. The pearl began to radiate a soft blue glow, casting a calming hue over the entire landscape. Torrents of water poured from it, condensing into eight fearsome water dragons, each coiling above the battlefield with overwhelming power.
As Lin Langtian took in the sight of these eight dragons, he grew wary. Each dragon emanated an aura that was nearly overwhelming.
With the dragons hovering, the lake trembled and erupted into freezing waves that coiled around them, creating an array brimming with energy, radiating a deadly chill that filled the air.
"All of you, leave this place," Luo Liu commanded, her voice carrying across the battlefield.
As her voice faded, spatial vortexes began appearing in the air, spiraling open and beckoning people to escape.
"Go!" Lin Langtian urged his companions.
"Master, are you not leaving?" asked Song Yun, noticing Lin Langtian's intent to stay behind.
"Don't worry. I'll find you once this is over," Lin Langtian reassured him. But then he noticed something troubling—Xuantian and his three henchmen sneaking toward the fallen Luo Water Pearl. Those four were trying to steal it!
Seeing Lin Langtian's resolve, Song Yun and the others nodded reluctantly and entered a nearby vortex, knowing they would only be a burden if they stayed.
With a sigh of relief as his group escaped, Lin Langtian turned his attention back to Xuantian and his men, his face darkening. They had caused all this trouble, and now they were trying to seize the treasure. No way would he let them get their hands on it!
Meanwhile, the once-calm lakeside was descending into chaos. As many people rushed to escape, others hesitated, their gazes locked onto the glistening Luo Water Pearl in the sky, the allure of the treasure igniting greedy ambitions.
One after another, figures broke away from the chaos, darting toward the Luo Water Pearl. Lin Langtian watched them, his brow furrowing. The Luo Water Pearl was a powerful artifact, but taking it wouldn't be so easy, not while its true owner was still engaged in battle.
"You're still here?" A familiar voice called out. Ling Qingzhu landed nearby, her gaze fixed on Lin Langtian, surprised.
"You're here too, aren't you?" he replied with a faint smile.
"I don't care about the pearl. I stayed to see what unfolds here," she replied, her eyes drifting to the battle in the distance. "If that creature escapes, we'll all be in serious danger."
Lin Langtian nodded in agreement, while another thought lingered in his mind: he wanted to understand the connection between the Evil God's Eye he held and the ominous Evil Eye in the sky.
As his thoughts raced, Lin Langtian shifted his gaze to the eight massive water dragons coiled in a breathtaking formation. The frozen lake waters pooled into a towering ice wall that cascaded down from the sky, creating a stunning yet menacing spectacle.
"Boom! Boom!"
Facing the water dragon ice formation, the massive black mist eye began to fiercely retaliate, firing beams of black energy from its core. The frigid water continuously eroded and evaporated from the assault. But as the battle wore on, it became clear that the giant black mist eye feared the water dragon ice formation. Its attacks weakened, and it could no longer issue its sharp taunting laughter.
The woman in the blue gown floated within the encircling water dragons, her cold gaze fixed on the roiling black mist below. But her expression showed strain. Over the centuries, the Evil Eye had been gathering strength, awaiting the perfect moment to escape. Even she was barely holding it off.
Meanwhile, over a dozen figures had reached the blue Luo Water Pearl, now fallen to the ground. Before they could make a move, a powerful gust of wind struck, scattering them.
"Xuantian, don't push it! This artifact doesn't belong to your Heaven Mystics Sect!" the stunned onlookers shouted indignantly.
"It didn't before, but it does now," Nalan sneered.
"Leave now," Ying Fan warned with a smirk. "Or risk losing your lives."
"Move!" Xuantian commanded, eyes blazing as he eyed the Luo Water Pearl. "Block the connection between the pearl and that woman. She's occupied with the creature. If we take the pearl, we can leave quickly."
Nalan and the other two nodded, quickly tossing three net-like artifacts that expanded into shimmering barriers, enveloping the entire pearl. The nets gleamed with symbols, revealing them to be spiritual treasures. Once caught in the net, the blue light around the pearl dimmed as if severing its link to the woman.
"Now, take it!" Xuantian's excitement was barely contained as he prepared to seize the pearl.
At that moment, the woman's expression shifted. Her piercing gaze shot toward Xuantian and his allies, fury blazing in her eyes.
"Boom!"
As her focus faltered, the black mist surged, abandoning all defenses to launch a desperate, full-force assault at her.
The woman clenched her fists, and the eight water dragons released massive ice columns, intersecting in their assault on the black mist. Hissing sounds echoed as the ice columns struck, but despite being wounded, the black mist eye surged forward, enduring the attacks to reach her position.
The woman was forced to summon all her defenses, knowing that if the creature broke free of the formation, even she could not contain it.
"Foolish girl, you think you can imprison me? For centuries, I have grown stronger while you weaken. This is destiny!" The creature's taunting voice grew closer, as did its dreadful red eye.
The woman's face darkened, and she attempted to summon the Luo Water Pearl. However, the pearl trembled slightly and refused to move, blocked by the spiritual treasures that Xuantian's group had thrown over it.
"Those reckless idiots," Lin Langtian muttered in frustration.
"The creature's about to escape," Ling Qingzhu added, her voice betraying a hint of alarm.
"Lin Langtian," the voice of his spirit guide, Ling Yi, echoed in his mind, "throw the Evil Eye in your possession. It can suppress that monster."
Lin Langtian's gaze sharpened. He took a deep breath, reached into his robe, and pulled out a black orb resembling an eye. Qingzhu's look of surprise didn't slow him as he flung the orb forward.
The moment the orb left his hand, it expanded to an enormous size. The air darkened with a sinister energy as the orb grew into a black vortex, emanating an intense gravitational pull.
As soon as the vortex formed, it exerted a powerful pull on the black mist eye, which fought against the force but was inevitably drawn toward the vortex.
"What is this?" the woman in the blue gown looked up, her gaze falling on the vortex that seemed to mirror the creature she was fighting. Her face showed an unexpected hint of surprise.
"No… no! It's my true form! Wait, who dares to control my body?!" Realization dawned on the Evil Eye as it felt itself being forcibly drawn into the vortex. It released a bellow of rage, recognizing that it had lost control over its own essence.
Far below, the red glow of the Evil Eye glared toward Lin Langtian with fury and disbelief.
"I don't understand how you managed it," the woman sneered as she looked down upon the struggling creature, "but this time, I won't let you escape."
With that, she waved her sleeve, and the eight water dragons roared in unison, descending on the creature from all directions.
In a final desperate struggle, the creature thrashed wildly, but the icy onslaught and the pull of the vortex were too strong. Its body dissolved into the swirling dark mist, torn apart by the relentless assault.
"No! Don't!"
With a scream that echoed across the sky, the Evil Eye was sucked into the vortex. Its sinister red glow vanished as the black orb shrank back down, radiating an eerie but calm darkness before returning to the size of a marble. It flew back into Lin Langtian's waiting hand, cold and lifeless once more.
