Chapter 167 - Smiling shiplessly

The two of them descended the stairs side by side, where the butler and the housekeeper were waiting below.

Seeing them come down together, a flicker of delight crossed their faces.

Especially Beauty—she had seemed rather downcast these past few days, but now she appeared completely recovered.

They assumed the young couple had made up.

"Sir, Beauty, the meal is ready," said the housekeeper.

The housekeeper had called her "Beauty" since she was a child, and even now that she was Lucas's wife, the habit remained.

Lucas didn't mind, though. He had always been lenient with the staff at the old estate, much like his late grandpa had been with them in his day.

Lucas took Beauty's hand and led her to the table. In front of their elders, she didn't pull away, letting him guide her to her seat.

Across from them, the butler grinned so widely that creases formed at the corners of his eyes.

"This peach blossom wine and rose wine are both homemade," the housekeeper said proudly.
