Lauren stood silently by the window, her usually seductive eyes now filled with confusion and disbelief.
"Infinite Dimensions' number one player... was still just an employee of mine a week ago," she murmured. "It's almost laughable. What did I even do to deserve this kind of cosmic joke?"
Behind her, a cautious voice broke the silence.

It was Charles.
