Chapter 10 - CHAPTER TEN

Alex walked away from the guest room she was in and headed straight for his study where James was waiting for him. That freaking creep. He had been so careful, but they still found out where she lived faster than he. Just how far were they willing to go to hide the truth from him, it made his blood boil to know he couldn't do anything tonight.

James was standing outside Alex's study when Alex arrived. Alex walked past him and into his study, he could feel a developing headache.

"How the hell did he find her? We only just found out who she is, how did they find out everything before me? " Alex said, trying hard to restrain his brewing anger.

"I don't know, sir, but I will look into it immediately," James answered, and Alex sighed deeply. "You can leave for tonight. It's late already." James nodded and left Alex alone in his office.

He, too, was worried, there was a possibility that Alex was being followed, and that was how they found out about Lynn.

"Good night, Marcus," James said to the butler when he walked past him, and Marcus smiled at him. He had a glass of water in his hand and was headed to Alexander's office.

"Come in," Alex said when he heard a soft knock on his door. The butler pushed the door open and walked into with the glass of water. His eyes filled with curiosity and questions.

"Here, sir," Marcus said and dropped the glass in front of him. He noticed the deep frown that had formed on Alex's face and wondered what Alex had been up to over the last few days. He mostly returned to the house in a bad mood. "Do you have a headache, sir? I could get you some painkillers, " Marcus said, but Alex shook his head and just picked up the glass of water.

"I'm fine Marcus. I was just a bit worried. I think Clara is back, " Alex said. Marcus's eyes immediately grew wide when he heard Alex mention Clara. "What! When did she return ?" Marcus asked, Alex drank a bit out of the water before he answered his butler.

"I'm not sure about that, but I think she returned because of my father's will. My time is almost up, you know," Alex scoffed and dropped the glass on his desk.

"But sir, you have looked for her for so long and still cannot find her. What are you going to do" Marcus looked really worried. Why did Clara have to show up at such a crucial Time? He had a feeling that she was going to cause trouble, and he broke his heart to think that such a sweet girl had turned out this way.

"I found her already," Alex said, a triumphant smile on his face "You found her! Where is she? You should bring her to the house first, " Marcus immediately trailed off.. He slowly started to put two and two together. "What you are thinking about is right, Marcus, she is the one. Her name is Lynn, " Alex said, and Marcus's jaw almost dropped.

" She is Frederick's daughter," the butler muttered, and Alex nodded. "Yes, she is his daughter. I want you not to mention anything about it to her; she doesn't seem to know. It's better for both of us if she doesn't know about it. "

Marcus nodded and left Alex to study soon after. He wasn't sure what would happen, but he was sure it was going to be worth watching. All this while he thought maybe Frederick's daughter was dead or was probably married, which would have caused another problem.

"She looks a lot like her mother," Marcus muttered before walking away towards his room.

Alexander got up and walked towards the bookshelf in his study. He stood in front of it, his eyes scanning all the books till it landed on one. He shifted the book, and then, under it was a single small button, which was hard for anyone to notice. He pressed the button, and the top side of his shelf started to move it revealed a safe. Alex stared at the safe, a deep frown on his face. He pressed in the code of the safe, and it opened to reveal a few documents. Alex picked one of the documents and sighed deeply as he read through it.

He wondered what had compelled his father to write such a will. What had been done with Fredrick for his father to make such a deal? The problem was that he had to be the one who had to carry the repercussions or else he risked losing his inheritance that he had worked so hard for. He closed his eyes and ran his hand through his hair. His green eyes filled with anger and confusion. He sighed deeply and dropped the document on his table.

His thirtieth birthday was drawing close, and he finally found her, the only problem was Clara. He had no idea the type of plans his sister had, but he was sure she wasn't just going to sit by and let him inherit everything.

He still remembered the look in her eyes when his father's lawyer, Gryphon, had read the will to them after his father's funeral. She looked fuming mad, even though his father had left a few of his properties to her.

She had whispered to him that she would let him get away with it, and it still sticked with him every day after fifteen years.

"What are you planning on doing Clara" Alex muttered and picked up the picture on his table that had been inside the document. it was a picture of fredrick and his father, the man who had betrayed his family And now he was expected to marry this man's daughter unless he could lose his inheritance.

What really compelled his father to do this!

why die and leave him in such a sticky position, how was he going to live with her for a year!
