A few moments later, in Shizune's office;
THUD
"Why is my son here, and why wasn't I told?" Tsunade said with anger so great that her face almost twisted into a snarl after she slammed her hand on Shizune's desk. She was looking heatedly at Shizune, who was raising her hands in a surrendering gesture while leaning away in her chair, trying to make some distance between herself and the angry mother.
"Calm down, Tsunade-sama, let me explain," Shizune said in a pleading, almost desperate tone.
"Explain what, little girl? My son was brought to the hospital with grave wounds, and I've learned about that now. By myself? Because of some nurses' gossip." Tsuande said, her voice rising. She can't believe what is happening
"Please, Tsunade-sama. It wasn't my decision. Naruto-kun was the one who requested that no one inform you. He said that you can't see him in that condition, preferring for you to see him recovering and healthy instead of seeing him drenched in his own blood." Shizune said in a small voice, hoping to calm down the raging mother.
That stopped Tsunade for a moment. If she were truthful to herself, she knew she most likely wouldn't have handled seeing Naruto with the injuries that were described in the report by his bed. She had seen people dear to her injured, bleeding, and dying, and she couldn't handle it well. Kami knows what would have happened if the same had happened with her son.
"Who did this?" Tsunade said with a much calmer tone.
"We don't know yet. We are still waiting for Naruto-kun to wake up." Shizune said
"Why was Naruto leading his own surgery?" Tusande asked as her eyes narrowed.
"We couldn't really approach Naruto directly without his shadow clones due to the presence of the Kyuubi's chakra. You see, Tsunade-sama, after you left yesterday...…." Shizune proceeded to tell Tsunade what happened in her absence in detail.
Around the same time. Naruto's recovery room;
In the calm silence of the room, Naruto opened his eyes slowly before blinking multiple times as he looked at the roof of the room he was currently in. He turned his head to look around his room, noting the private room, the silence, the solutions dripping slowly into tubes and into his body, and the morning light as the first rays of the sun peeked over the horizon from outside his room window.
Naruto sat up in his bed slowly while letting out a low grunt from the stiffness he was feeling in his body. He sat quietly on the edge of the bed and seemed to be lost in thought as he looked at the window with unfocused eyes.
'Kit, you ok?' Came Kurumi's concerned voice from within his mindscape.
"YEaH….." Naruto's voice was rough and dry, making him stop talking immediately because of how uncomfortable he felt.
He looked around the room and found that his belongings were put on a small table in the corner. It consisted of his Katana, all he had in his pouches and vest pockets, with his clothes and jonin vest being absent, as he was sure they had been disposed of.
After taking out the tubes connecting the solutions to his body, Naruto reached for the stack of his scrolls before picking the one he needed. From it, he unsealed a flask of water that he drank the entire contents of.
"Yeah, I am fine. Considering what happened." Naruto said blankly with a low voice as he resealed the now-empty flask before taking another scroll with him and walking to the bathroom.
In the bathroom, he tore the hospital gown off his body, revealing that he was only in his underwear, along with his entire torso and thighs being covered by bandages.
Slowly, Naruto unraveled the bandages covering his body, revealing a physique too developed for a child his age and completely unharmed and without any scars, as if what happened yesterday didn't happen.
After looking at his front and back in the mirror, to check for anything, and finding nothing, Naruto opened the scroll that he brought and unsealed a pair of pants and a plain shirt that he usually wears under his jonin vest.
Moments later, Naruto walked out of the bathroom, fully dressed but without a jonin vest.
After putting the scroll back with the others, Naruto stood in an open space in the room and started stretching and doing his warming-up routine while his head went through what had happened yesterday.
It was the first time he was injured to this degree, where he would have died if not for his healing factor and Kurumi's presence.
Not only that, but his opponents were also entirely different from anyone else he had ever fought. He had never seen anything like it. Not only were they brushing off extremely fatal injuries as if they were nothing. But he had never seen, read, or heard about their techniques.
A lot could have gone wrong; he was lucky that he came out in one piece with only injuries that can be healed.
"Hey, Kurumi," Naruto called as he finished his routine.
'What is it. Kit?' Kurumi replied
"Thank you," Naruto said, surprising his tenant.
'For what?' Kurumi asked
"For being here and for what happened yesterday," Naruto said as he approached the pile of scrolls again and took another one. She helped him when he was at his lowest and helped in healing him.
'Think nothing of it, Kit. I couldn't let you die.' Kurumi replied softly.
"Still, thank you," Naruto muttered as he returned to sit on the bed and unsealed a huge bento box from the scroll he was carrying. He could feel his body protesting and demanding food after yesterday's ordeal.
He opened the bento, appreciating its contents of grilled fish, rice, and different side dishes, before starting to eat while his mind played yesterday's battle slowly for him to analyze.
As he finished his bento, he unsealed a second one and started eating it too, only for him to be interrupted by the door of his room opening slowly and carefully.
He looked up at the door only to see a nurse pushing the door with her back, meaning she was carrying something, while she was talking to someone.
"Still, I can't let you see him, Reiko-san. Hokage-sama forbade anyone from seeing him other than hospital personnel until he talks with Naruto-sama when he wakes u...….." The nurse stopped talking as she turned and was about to walk into the room, only to see what Naruto was doing, making her almost drop the tray she was carrying as she looked at Naruto with disbelief.
"Good morning," Naruto said calmly as he continued to eat.
"What? You're awake? And what are you doing, Naruto-sama?" the nurse said with panic seeping into her voice as she looked at Naruto's attire and what he was doing.
Reiko 'Pakura', who was with the nurse intending to visit Naruto, peeked into the room and, seeing Naruto awake, made her eyes widen slightly before she disappeared in a body flicker.
"I am eating," Naruto said with a blank tone to the nurse
"That is not what I am asking about. You should be sti….." the nurse was interrupted by the sound of hurried footsteps before Tsunade rushed past her into the room and looked at Naruto.
"Hey, Kaa-san," Naruto said with a smile, but his voice held a bit of uncertainty and sadness as he felt the turmoil of emotions from his mother.
Tsunade stood still for a moment before rushing at Naruto, pulling him into a bear hug that seemed to knock some of the air out of Naruto. Naruto instinctively hugged her back, as she seemed to tremble slightly.
"Sorry for worrying you, Kaa-san," Naruto whispered into his mother's ear as she hugged him tighter.
