Ryuu had come rushing as soon as he felt Neko's chakra drop drastically.

As he reached the downed Neko, he pushed Tenzo aside before starting to diagnose Neko's condition.

"What happened?" Ryuu asked, looking at Inu.

Inu didn't reply as he just looked at the headless, decapitated body that stood upright because of all the wood spikes embedded in the body. Ryuu's eyes widened behind his mask as he looked at the body, especially the scythe handle that was embedded through and through in its chest, the same parts where Neko was bleeding profusely from.

Ryuu looked back at Neko, who was looking up at him, her body still shaking, choking on her own blood, trying to take a breath, but her blood was still pouring out of her mouth and her injuries. Ryuu could see the pain, the fear, and the pleading in her eyes. She was pleading for her life or to make the pain stop. Her body was in shock, bleeding internally and externally. Ryuu knew her injuries were fatal, and he needed to move fast if he wanted to save her.

"Neko," Ryuu said as he used his hands to make her face him while also having his fingers touch her neck.

"I got you, Yugao. I got you. Don't worry." Ryuu said with a reassuring tone before tapping the nape of her neck, making her go unconscious.

As Neko grew still, Ryuu's face darkened behind his mask. When he touched Neko's neck, he could barely feel her blood flowing. Her blood pressure was so low, along with her pulse being nonexistent.

Ryuu formed a single hand seal, forming eight shadow clones, before reaching into his pouches and taking out multiple storage scrolls and putting them beside him.

Without saying a word, four clones reached for the scrolls, unsealing their contents while the other four left the living quarters that they were in after taking a storage scroll containing a sealing kit.

As the clones prepared what they needed, Ryuu's hands glowed light green as they moved above Neko's chest, his face turning gloomy behind his mask from what he was finding out.

"How is she?" Tenzo said with worry seeping into his voice.

Ryuu didn't reply as one of his clones sat near Neko's head, putting a sealing tag on Neko's forehead before pushing chakra into it, making Kanji appear from the tag and covering Neko's head. Immediately after the Seal took effect, the clone started to pour healing chakra into the seal and Neko's head.

While that was happening, another clone had finished bringing a table to the corner of the living quarters and laying a sterile sheet on it. Three clones carried Neko onto the table while Ryuu took off his Anbu gloves before the fourth clone helped him disinfect his hands and put on sterile medical gloves. With his hands ready, Ryuu stepped towards the makeshift operating table.

"Ryuu," Inu called, but Ryuu didn't reply as the clone that helped him disinfect stepped towards the remaining members of Team Ro.

"Let prime focus, Inu. Time is of the essence right now," the clone said as Inu and Tenzo watched one of the clones helping Ryuu get rid of Neko's clothing, making her upper body bare in front of Ryuu and his clones, but they stood close together, blocking the rest of the team Ro from seeing Neko.

"Is she going to make it?" Tenzo asked the clone as he saw Ryuu form a Chakra scalpel.

"Yeah, she should even though her injuries are fatal. Her heart and left lung are pierced through. Luckily, her spine is intact. Prime had her brain put into deep induced sleep using fuinjutsu while supplying it with medical chakra. With this arrangement, her brain would stay alive for a couple of hours instead of a couple of minutes, which would give Prime enough time to heal her heart and damaged lung." The clone said, making Inu and Tenzo go quiet for a moment as they looked at the backs of Ryuu and his clones as they worked.

"But her heart stopped, right?" Inu asked with a complicated tone as he looked at the clone. In their line of work, a pierced heart means certain death; even if it was healed, it wouldn't start again.

"Yeah, her heart stopped a few seconds after Prime made her go unconscious." The clone said, making Inu and Tenzo look at each other.

"But Prime has been working on something experimental along with Tsunade-sama; it may help start her heart again when it is fully healed. It might help when we reach there." The clone said, looking at the two.

"For now, let Prime focus on what he is doing. You will be the first to know when he is done." The clone said before turning around and joining Ryuu and the other clones.

Inu and Tenzo gave them a final look before splitting and starting to fully secure the place they have currently taken.

A little over an hour and a half later:

Inu and Tenzo stood a few meters away from Ryuu and his clones as they watched them still working on Neko.

They didn't find anything of importance in the living quarters. Other than living supplies like food, water, furniture, and beds, they found nothing. So after completing the search, they secured the bodies of the dead cultists in a pile on the other far corner of the living quarters while leaving the decapitated priest the way he was. Since then, they watched Ryuu and his clones work.

Their attention was pulled away for a moment as they spotted Phoenix walk in, along with Ryuu's other four shadow clones.

Phoenix's head turned to look at the operation that was still going on as she silently walked to join Inu and Tenzo. The four clones of Ryuu that were with her walked towards the last priest's body and his decapitated head.

"Is it bad?" Phoenix asked as she reached Inu and Tenzo.

"Yeah," Inu said with a blank tone that hid what he was truly feeling.

While his tone and demeanor seemed calm, he was feeling turmoil in his heart; the possibility of losing another teammate and comrade made him think back to all the people he had lost.

He had grown numb to it as he had seen it too many times now, but that didn't mean he had gotten over it by any means.

To be continued.
