Chapter 82 - CHAPTER 80: The Ultimate Abyss

After Javier, Jill, and Chris put on their diving suits, they jumped from the helicopter and plunged into the sea. The ocean was so calm and peaceful at that moment that no one could have imagined what awaited them.

The three of them were searching for the ship in the depths of the ocean. After exploring for a while, they found it near the ruins of Terragrigia.

At that moment, the massive ship lay silently at the bottom of the sea. It was covered in algae, with many fish swimming around it.

When Jill saw the Queen Dido logo, she signaled for the others to follow her. The three reached a sealed hatch. Javier forced it open, and they entered the interior of the Queen Dido.

They swam through the corridor. When they found a locked hatch, Jill used a welding torch to open it. The farther they went, the more biochemically infected creatures they encountered. After avoiding the monsters, they arrived at a closed valve.

Javier opened the valve, and they surfaced in an area that hadn't been submerged by seawater. Once inside, they removed their diving suits.

"Look here," said Jill, pointing to a corpse near the wall. "They're from the FBC."

Chris examined the body and confirmed—by the gear and the logo on the arm—that it belonged to an FBC operative.

Jill found a recorder on the corpse. She turned it on and listened. It turned out they had been sent under Morgan's orders to find a videotape that supposedly contained evidence against Morgan and Veltro.

Unfortunately, they were ambushed by Veltro operatives, who injected them with a virus, killing them all. This meant Morgan never got the tape.

"Looks like if we find the tape, we can expose Morgan's conspiracy," said Chris. They moved on, continuing deeper into the ship.

The hallway was full of dead FBC operatives, along with mutant creature corpses that appeared to be Veltro members.

Soon, they reached a dining hall. Several corpses lay on the tables. Javier glanced at them and realized they were all Veltro members. On the wall, numerous time markings were drawn in blood.

The word "revenge" was scrawled in blood. It was clear that Veltro deeply hated Morgan for betraying them. As they left the dining hall, they encountered a revolving door with the same code as the one on the Queen Zenobia.

At that point, the door no longer required a password. They pushed it open and entered. It appeared to be a video room, with a massive screen on the wall and Veltro flags on either side.

At that moment, the screen lit up, and Norman, the leader of the Veltro organization, appeared. He looked extremely worn out, sitting in a chair facing the camera.

"The ship has sunk deep into the sea. There is no escape and no chance of survival, unless..." Norman said, picking up a syringe and injecting himself. Javier suspected it contained a virus.

"In honor of the name, we accept our immoral behavior and turn our flesh and blood into a remembrance of our sins. But for you, Morgan, there will never be peace." Norman began to cough violently.

"We will rise from hell; our souls will become an unstoppable, eternal force. All contact between us is recorded here. We will become the keepers of the truth and will not waver, no matter how much time passes." With that, Norman's video ended.

In the video, the tape Norman held was likely the evidence of the transaction between Morgan and Veltro. Now, all they had to do was find that videotape.

"What Norman had in his hand is the key evidence that can bring Morgan down. We need to find it," said Jill, looking at the others. After leaving the room, they continued deeper inside.

They reached a hallway filled with corpses from both the FBC and Veltro. It looked like a large-scale battle had taken place there.

At the end was a large door. After entering, they found an empty hall. At the front was a chair with Norman seated in it, and behind him hung the Veltro flag.

Upon seeing Javier and the others arrive, Norman picked up the videotape and held it up. "This is the tape Morgan has always wanted. Yes, this little machine holds the whole truth—enough to rip off Morgan's mask." As he said that, Norman collapsed to the floor.

The videotape slipped from Norman's hand, and Jill quickly ran over to grab it. "Great, we finally got the evidence. Let's get out of here, fast." Jill glanced at Norman's pained expression—he looked terrible.

"Stop!!" As they were about to run, Norman stopped them and picked up a vial of virus. "Now, Morgan, let me show you the horror you unleashed."

As soon as Norman finished speaking, he smashed the vial. Red gas spread out, and Norman began to roar in pain. Javier and the others watched in horror as Norman began mutating.

Norman, the leader of the Greyhound organization, had injected himself with the T-Abyss virus in desperation and was now undergoing mutation.

The Ultimate Abyss appeared as a giant humanoid figure with aquatic traits. The creature's left hand was significantly larger, with sharp claws that served as its main weapon. Two fins sprouted from its back, with a bulbous growth between them. When it attacked, a flap on the right side of its chest would open to reveal a large heart. Its face could retract to reveal a single eye, similar in appearance to that of the Draghignazzo.

Javier, Jill, and Chris stared at the Ultimate Abyss and immediately prepared to fight. The monster suddenly split in two and charged at Chris. He had no time to react and was struck.

The powerful creature could create illusions, making them believe it had duplicated, and could also use a form of teleportation.

Chris hit the ground and lost consciousness, showing just how powerful the monster was. Jill looked at Chris with concern and began firing her weapon.

The bullets struck the monster but caused no damage. Javier immediately began firing nonstop with his Desert Eagle. The monster rushed toward him.

Fortunately, Javier managed to dodge the attack. At that moment, the heart in its chest was exposed. Seizing the opportunity, he fired at the heart, causing the monster to stagger back.

"Jill, leave this guy to me. Go check on Chris." Upon hearing this, Jill quickly ran to Chris and began checking his injuries.

Javier used his speed to fight the monster. After several attacks, he finally managed to destroy the creature's heart.

"Hmph. If you really want to be useful, then entertain me, try to throw those pathetic power stones at me. Let's see if even your insolence can amuse a king."
