Chapter 88 - CHAPTER 86: Infected Curtis

When Javier left the building, he had already taken action: he contacted local companies and requested vaccines. Now it was time for the Azure Dragon Company to step in.

Angela walked over to the equipment vehicle, opened the trunk, and began to gear up with military precision. That's when she heard a voice behind her.

"That many weapons… isn't it overkill just to visit your brother?" Javier asked, appearing calmly.

Angela didn't even look at him. "Get in the car."

Without another word, she took the wheel and left the quarantine zone, speeding toward the city.

Above them, planes cut through the sky. Javier immediately recognized the logo on their wings — Azure Dragon Company.

"What are they doing here?" Angela asked, eyes fixed on the road.

"WilPharma's vaccine was destroyed. I asked Azure Dragon to bring the latest version. It's superior in every way," Javier explained.

Angela gave him a suspicious glance. "So you work with them?"

"You could say that," Javier replied with a faint smile.

"I don't trust any pharmaceutical company," she said coldly. "They're the ones who created this hell."

Javier remained calm. "Viruses aren't good or evil. They're tools. What's dangerous… is who uses them."

Angela let out a bitter laugh. "So Azure Dragon's the hero of this story?"

"You'll be the judge of that," said Javier, eyes forward. "Curtis's house is just ahead."

Angela slammed the gas pedal. When they arrived, flames were already consuming the residence. Angela jumped out of the car and ran toward the house, but it was too late.

She fell to her knees, staring at the burning remains.

Javier approached silently. "Three years without a single word from him," she murmured, holding a family photo. "After losing his wife and daughter in Raccoon City, he completely shut down. He used to say that saving one life was saving them all. But… I think he lost himself."

Angela stared into the fire. "I'll stop him from making an even bigger mistake."

Javier's phone vibrated. It was Claire.

"Javier! WilPharma has the G-Virus! Leon went to investigate, and it looks like they bought it on the black market! Davis is involved too and… oh my god… they kept everything from the government. This could turn into another Raccoon City! Wait… Curtis is here too!"

An explosion drowned out the rest of the message. The call dropped.

"Curtis is at WilPharma," Javier said, clenching his fists. "And he's after the virus."

"Let's go now!" Angela jumped back into the car and sped off.

Ten minutes later, they reached WilPharma's gates. Angela rammed through the security barrier and stormed the complex.

They both jumped out, ready for the worst. Angela, weapon in hand, ran inside. The lobby was dark. A metallic voice echoed from the loudspeakers:

[Alert. Security breach detected. Please cease all activities and evacuate immediately.]

Javier approached the monitoring terminal. The main passage was destroyed — they'd have to split up.

"We'll meet in the inner courtyard," Angela said as she took off.

"You're not alone. I'm with you," Javier replied.

Angela gave a faint smile before vanishing down the corridor.

Javier took the elevator toward the offices. The floor was dark, the hallways in ruins. Explosions had set equipment ablaze, sparks dancing in the air.

"Javier! Over here!" Claire's voice echoed.

She appeared limping, leaning on a piece of metal. Javier ran to her.

"Are you okay?"

"A shard of glass in my leg. But it's nothing serious."

Javier quickly bandaged the wound.

"I'll get you out of here."

"No," Claire gripped his arm firmly. "I saw Curtis. He's infected with the G-Virus. We have to stop him before it's too late."

Javier knew he wouldn't be able to convince her otherwise. He handed her a gun.

"Stay sharp. I'll come back for you."

As she limped down the corridor, Javier took the elevator to the courtyard. Gunfire echoed in the distance.

He ran.

Curtis was there. But something had changed. His body had mutated — muscles bulging, claws emerging — he was in the G1 stage, but… there was still some humanity in his eyes.

Soldiers opened fire on him, but his claws shielded his body like organic armor. The bullets barely scratched him.

Curtis fell, and the soldiers lowered their weapons, thinking he was dead.

But Javier knew. This was just the beginning.

Angela tried to run to her brother, but the soldiers held her back. Javier reached her.

"We need to go. Now."

"I can't abandon him!" she screamed, struggling against Javier's arms.

He held her tight… then struck the back of her head. Silence followed.

"Curtis is infected with the G-Virus. He's not your brother anymore. And if we stay, we'll die too."

Angela still resisted, but let herself be pulled away.

"The target resisted arrest and was neutralized," a soldier reported over the radio.

[Warning. Contamination detected in the Garden. Immediate evacuation recommended] the system announced.]

And amid the smoke and flames… Curtis stood back up.

"Hmph. If you really want to be useful, then entertain me, try to throw those pathetic power stones at me. Let's see if even your insolence can amuse a king."
