Chapter 1046 - Chapter 1015: Should Be Locked in Prison

Although he knew The Great Wall was a big flop, Martin still called Matt Damon.

On the phone, he said bluntly: "I won't vouch for the script's quality, but they're not short on money—ask for more pay. Handle the specifics yourself; I'm just passing the message."

Then hang up.

The time had just reached 9:00; the debate was about to start.

He don't know if it's because of mutually exposing each other's shortcomings before, but the debate opened with a gunpowder smell.

Trump and Hillary opened without a friendly handshake; instead, they waved casually from 2 meters apart.

Hillary lifted her chin, her face full of undisguised arrogance; Trump tilted his body, glancing sideways with pursed lips, a face of contempt.

That confrontational atmosphere immediately intrigued the audience in front of TVs and computers.

"It'd be great if they fought."

"If they fought, Hillary would definitely lose—Trump's a head taller."

"Did you notice Trump's look? Like he wants to eat Hillary."

"Hillary's the same—her face is overflowing with contempt."

"I'm excited already; this debate is sure to be full of fireworks."

The debate started with a question from an audience member.

This audience asked: "Mr. Trump, Ms. Clinton, you've both been scandals-ridden lately. How can you be role models for today's American youth?"

The two candidates coincidentally avoided the scandal issue, instead emphasizing their core campaign ideas.

Hillary first expressed: "We need to pass on confidence to the younger generation. America is a strong nation; we should respect each other, cherish our differences."

She also believed young people could learn from her campaign.

Hillary emphasized that education is one of America's greatest strengths; she'll find ways to make the entire education system from kindergarten to college more inclusive, making America's economy not just benefit the top but more evenly distributed to society.

Trump immediately attacked the current US government (Obama administration), criticizing the so-called "Obamacare" health insurance rules for actually increasing burdens on more people; criticizing last year's US trade deficit reaching $800 billion, while the US poured more finances into terrorism-breeding countries.

"This is the result of Democratic governance—they have no resolve for reform; it's all empty words."

He also emphasized his "law and order" core ideal, stressing stronger border control, respect for law enforcement, and protection for vulnerable groups.

But as CNN moderator Cooper asked Trump to explain his recently media-exposed "tape gate" insulting women remarks, the two's exchange intensified.

Trump could only apologize.

But while apologizing, he emphasized it was a "locker room talk," not representative of himself.

"I was led on; I highly suspect that host did it on purpose—these media people always stir trouble."

And right after, he diverted the topic to "counter-terrorism," claiming that's what voters should focus on.

On "tape gate," Hillary also directly attacked Trump, saying he's unfit for US president, with his multiple remarks showing bias against minorities, his worst criticism of Obama's birthplace, owing the nation an apology.

Though...

She expressed she wouldn't stoop to Trump's level.

"If you want to dwell on this, you can go to my website. Today here, we should discuss more key issues." Hillary indicated.

Seeing Hillary start to turn defense to offense, Trump immediately pressed on, diverting the topic to Bill Clinton.

"Everyone knows Bill Clinton's behavior toward women is far worse than mine, and Hillary has always ignored her husband's actions, her temperament—"

She gave him a tough look.

Trump continued: "Hillary, you don't surrender; you're no quitter."

Hillary retorted that she indeed wouldn't surrender, but her team had hardened the doors with measures.

Trump's team had long anticipated that in this debate, Hillary would cling to Trump's insulting women remarks, and had prepared.

Just before this debate started, Trump held a press conference with several alleged victims of Clinton's sexual assaults.

In the debate, Trump brought this up as a spear against Hillary.

And Trump certainly wouldn't let Hillary evade the issue, unrelenting, claiming that after receiving a court subpoena, Hillary chose to delete emails—disappointing actions that directly harm citizens' interests, angering US citizens including himself, and loudly claiming Hillary "should be locked in prison."
