The human convoy to the forbidden forest trading post was well underway. The adventurers walked alongside the convoy at even intervals as planned. Taking his job seriously, the silver sorcerer, Derek in disguise, was constantly scanning the area for threats. But, Derek could not have had a more irritating position in the convoy.
A conspicuous group of robed figures had been given last-moment approval to join the convoy as guests of one of the noblewomen. They walked near their sponsor's carriage, in the part of the convoy that Derek was guarding. Derek couldn't avoid hearing their conversation.
"Princess Mary is so lucky." One of the robed women said. "His holiness is so beautiful, it must be like a dream to be married to him."
Derek's teeth audibly cracked after hearing that. The robed women looked over at him for a moment before returning to their conversation.
"Didn't his holiness marry another noblewoman?" Another of the robed women asked.
