As Ang-Streum maintained the barrier and Mamon's armada attempted to retreat through the wormhole, the two opposing attacks clashed right in the middle, setting off the greatest and brightest explosion ever witnessed, possibly, even greater than that of an anti-proton bomb.
A wave of antimatter spread out across space in a spherical motion, travelling at a speed a thousand times faster than the missiles originally did. It incinerated every stray asteroid as it continued on its course of destruction.
Before Mamon's armada could fully enter the wormhole to escape, the wave of antimatter struck them hard. Even with their shields at full capacity, he still lost several thousand of his ships. The others not incinerated were either able to escape with moderate damages or were fully incapacitated.
The wormhole closed behind them, allowing the rest of the antimatter wave to pass on by.
......
"We have incoming. Brace yourselves!!" Dr. Michelson shouted to the duo. Ang-Streum gritted his teeth as he gave it his all…pouring in every bit of mana Samuel gave him without reservation.
The wave of antimatter struck against the barrier hard, causing Ang-Streum to cough up blood as a result of bearing the initial brunt of the attack.
The entire planet shook from the impact, registering on a magnitude of six point seven, causing mass panic and hysteria.
This resulted in several small-scale natural disasters that caused the destruction of a countless number of state-owned or private-owned properties all over the world. People woke up from their sleeps to find themselves in absolute nightmares.
The clash was so strong that it almost caused the Earth to slip out of its orbit. Even so, Ang-Streum, with great focus amidst the nerve-racking pain he was enduring after the initial impact, still managed to keep the barrier up.
He stitched up all cracks that appeared in the barrier making sure that not even a little bit of the antimatter wave could make contact with the Earth's atmosphere.
As quickly as it came, the wave soon passed by the planet, continuing on for a few thousand missiles before slowly dissipating into the void of space.
......
High up in the sky, Samuel supported Ang-Streum as he had spent all his strength on the defense of Earth. "You've done extremely well. The people of Earth owe you a debt of gratitude", Samuel praised the passed-out Ang-Streum who was wrapped snugly by Samuel's long tail. His face was pale…looking like he was completely drained.
Suddenly, he received an urgent call on his comms. "Sam…dude…the hell was that? It felt like someone was playing golf with the planet", Sylvester enquired after Samuel answered.
"It's a little difficult to explain right now. Just know that we are under alien attack", Samuel answered simply. "I see. We'll be there shortly", Sylvester said and disconnected the call.
A few seconds later, the clouds quickly darkened and released a thick bolt of lightning. The trio of Sylvester, Sylvia and Delgato emerged out of the bolt of lightning…Delgato in his hover suit to keep him airborne.
They hugged Samuel in greeting as it had been a while since they met face-to-face. "So…who is that pale looking guy?" Sylvia asked pointing to the unconscious alien wrapped by Samuel's tail.
"I'll explain everything but we need to return to the lab so he can rest", Samuel answered gesturing to Ang-Streum.
He held out his palm to empty space and activated a warp gate. Sylvester whistled in amazement at the warp gate before them. Even though they already knew about its invention, with their ability to teleport through lightning, they had never had a need for it.
"Let's go", Samuel said as he led the way through the gate, the others following closely behind him.
The group reemerged out of the warp gate in the mountain lab. "Well, isn't this a wonderful surprise?" Dr. Michelson said when he walked in and welcomed the three friends with hugs.
He then led them to a rest area where Samuel laid Ang-Streum on a bed to recover. Dr. Michelson hooked him up to fluids as well as medical devices to monitor his vitals as he slept. His pale face already looked like it was slowly recovering.
The group then entered the computer room next door where the three aides were busy working. The group took their seats around the table and were served tea by Lisia's second android body dressed in a maid costume.
"PLEASE ENJOY!" she said with a low bow before walking elegantly away. "Thanks Lisia", Sylvia said as she took a sip from her cup. "So…start talking. What's going on?" Sylvester requested.
Taking the opportunity, Samuel introduced Ang-Streum and his three aides to the three. He then went ahead to give a brief outline of the Nebulaxians' past and their escape to Earth all through to today's sudden antimatter missile attack.
"So, let me get this straight. This Mamon is a conqueror who will risk destroying an entire planet if he faces even a little resistance? What exactly is his motive?" Sylvester asked after considering the information given to them.
"He's a deranged and maniacal emperor. Although his general motive is to conquer the entire universe, he is not averse to wiping everything out", Ang-Streum answered as he entered the room, walking a little wobbly.
"You should be in bed resting", Samuel admonished him as he met him halfway and helped him to one of the seats around the table. "I'm okay now. I'll sleep better when I know Mamon is no longer a threat", Ang-Streum said as he was served by Lisia.
He nodded in appreciation and took a long sip of the beverage before sighing and placing his cup back on the table.
"The antimatter explosion wave has managed to buy us more time but I'm sure Mamon will be back soon and probably with a bigger armada", Dr. Michelson said in contemplation.
"You're right! For the first time, he has encountered a planet that has managed to resist him. He now knows there is a valid threat to his ambitions. He isn't going to let it go just like that", Samuel added.
"We'll need to prepare for a second encounter. We must not lose to him or the planet will be lost", Sylvia declared and they all nodded in acknowledgement.
"Anyway, I need to return soon. Elizabeth is still waiting for me. We also need to celebrate our first victory. You guys have not been to town yet right…I think it's the best time for you to do so since the celebration should have resumed", Samuel said inviting the four Nebulaxians.
"That's a good idea. It's been a while since we all hang out. We also need to introduce you four to city life", Sylvia said as she stood to her feet. "We just need to get you disguises", Sylvester added.
"No need! I have just the spell", Ang-Streum said as he rose to his feet now fully recovered. He closed his eyes and his crystal glowed faintly. "Chans-Lesqua!!" he mumbled and a glow surrounded all four Nebulaxians. When the glow disappeared, they emerged with the appearances of regular human beings.
After spending a few minutes admiring their new forms, the entire group went down to the garage and picking cars of their choices, drove towards the city shortening their distance by using the warp gates again.
