Psycho-Jet. A drug you can make in-game by combining two other distinct drugs. The name gives away which two drugs are used to create it.
Psycho, or as it is sometimes called, Angry Juice, is a drug that, in-game, gives the player buffs to melee damage and damage resistance. As a player, you don't feel the effects, but your character gets those higher stats for a short time.
In reality, Psycho targets the brain's higher functions, reducing the user's sensitivity to pain and giving them faster muscle reflexes.
Jet, on the other hand, would cause the player's perception to slow down for a short amount of time, allowing the player to use far better precision and reaction speed, making it possible to kill multiple enemies with ease.
In reality, it targets endorphins in the brain, enabling an altered state of perception and a heavy rush of adrenaline.
And Psycho-Jet, which is a mixture of both, is about to enter my veins.
I also realize that I am about to be very high... but also very dangerous.
It was a moment between strikes from those massive tentacles. I plunged the syringe directly into my neck and squeezed the plunger.
One of the tentacles came lashing out at me as the drug took effect.
The effects hit my head first with a rush of euphoria the likes of which I had never experienced. The muscles in my legs, enhanced by the Marsupial serum, tensed instantly, and I launched myself over the falling tentacle.
To my eyes, it was like being in VATS, but with a supercharged body. A bullet left the barrel of Fuckbringer, which I summoned back into my hand.
The tentacle recoiled from the pain and writhed as I planted my foot onto the curve of another tentacle and propelled myself back into the air before it could coil around me.
I loosed a volley of explosive shots and hit several tentacles in sight.
The Overseer quickly threw up a barrier as one of the bullets flew toward him.
"Too late!" I said with manic glee, the words coming out so quickly that they jumbled together.
The Overseer's eyes widened as he saw what I had thrown from my hand while he was defending against one of my bullets.
"No!" The Overseer screamed as he attempted to telekinetically grab the EMP grenade as it came closer to the transmitter array at the center of the room.
But he was too late. Right as his power reached it, the grenade detonated in a flash of electricity. The equipment began smoking and died, and the lights within the dome flickered for a moment.
The signal being sent from the Overseer to Cthulhu was no longer amplified, and panic flashed across his slimy face.
I didn't let myself drink in his despair for long as I started blasting once more at the tentacles.
Cthulhu, no longer under the Overseer's control, recoiled at the pain, and the tentacles lashed out.
The Overseer, who could no longer control the beast, was thrown aside right before Cthulhu decided to flee. Its tentacles quickly disappeared into the water below the moon pool.
Black ink dyed the water as it made its exit.
"Hehehe." I laughed. "It seems there was no real loyalty there, huh, scumbag? A beast is still just a beast at the end of the day. And no beast would want to keep enduring pain without being forced to."
The Overseer looked down at the water in astonishment and anger.
"You... ruined everything. How did you even..."
Bang! A shot rang out, but the bullet struck the telekinetic barrier before hitting him.
"I'll kill you!" the Overseer shouted and thrust his hand forward.
A wave of energy rolled out to ensnare my legs, but I jumped into the air and fired several times.
The initial slowdown of my perception had ceased, but my body was still being chemically pushed to its limits.
The Overseer had become enraged but still had the strength of mind to put up his barrier. But now he was actively throwing debris at me between volleys.
I dodged a piece of railing that was launched at me and then fired more shots at the Overseer. It was becoming a draw, and I didn't think my drug-fueled state would last much longer.
I had been fighting the creeping rage of the Psycho this whole time to avoid making an impulsive mistake.
And the rush of adrenaline was wearing off again. When it did, if the Overseer was still a threat... it would be my loss.
"Stop moving!" he screamed as a chunk of concrete was crushed and then launched like a shotgun spread, causing me to quickly maneuver away.
I quickly pulled out my few remaining grenades from my inventory and lobbed one into a high arc above my enemy's head.
A floater-flamer grenade.
He quickly reached up to shield himself from above, but that was the mistake I was waiting for.
The grenade went off, and flaming pus rained down over him, obscuring his vision as he tried to push it away.
The napalm-like liquid was thrown to the side, but the Overseer turned his sight back on me and was surprised to find me only a meter away.
I had switched to an Assaultron blade in hopes of getting within his guard to give him a wound he couldn't regenerate from behind a barrier.
Shooting at him carried the risk of him quickly shielding himself and waiting for the injuries to close.
Unfortunately, he reacted quickly enough to stop me. The blade that I had thrust stopped an inch from his chest as he enveloped me in telekinetic energy.
"Foolish... My power is far stronger at close range. Heh, heh, heh. Now I've got you."
The Overseer looked smug as I put all my strength into resisting, wanting to push the blade into the arrogant fish before me.
A pressure landed on my body, and the Overseer attempted to crush me into paste.
My adamantium skeleton held up and prevented me from being twisted like a pretzel, but my muscles and blood vessels felt like they were popping.
"Die!" The Overseer screamed as he tried to use one last burst of strength to pop me like a meat balloon.
Pew!
The sound of a laser rifle echoed, and a burned hole appeared in the Overseer's outstretched arm.
"Ah!" he screamed in pain, but that was the lifesaving distraction I needed.
Having broken free of the telekinetic hold, I burned the last vestiges of my strength and plunged the blade deeply into the Overseer's chest cavity.
"Hah... You forgot... Haah... There was two of us." I said through a bloody smile.
The Overseer's eyes bulged, and he immediately tried to pull the blade out, but I quickly spun the blade and sliced upward, opening him up from sternum to throat.
Shock filled his eyes, but I could see the Overseer had given himself some insane regeneration, and this alone was not enough to kill him.
"Here. A parting gift from me to you!"
I threw my last grenade into the already-healing flesh and watched as the flesh healed around the live grenade.
The Overseer began to panic, making gurgling noises as he frantically pawed at the closing wound.
I had already stepped away when I heard the detonation.
The cryo grenade detonated and turned the Overseer into a red Christmas ornament, like a crystal made of bloody chunks.
I looked over at Jonny, who was slumped against the remnants of one of the tanks, one of the laser rifles in his shaking hands.
He looked beat up, with a swollen eye and bruises around his face and arms.
But under all that was a smile that looked ecstatic.
"It's over..?" His voice was raspy.
"Yeah..." I looked around the room, which looked like a war zone. "The battle is won." I said with a smile.
"Sir!"
I looked up and saw Lady had finally made it back. She saw me, and I saw her running in my direction.
But the effects of the drugs I had taken had finally worn off. I felt crippling exhaustion and dizziness.
I fell forward and landed into a pillowy warmth before my eyes closed and my brain shut down to recover.
The last thing I heard was a chime notification from the system.
