Emma Campbell stopped in her tracks, her gaze fixed on the two people at the door. Rick Slicker sensed trouble and his face darkened as he said, "Are we still going to do this?"
Emma Campbell twisted the hem of her clothes, lowered her head, and dared not look at James Brown and Gina Lopez. Tears flowed uncontrollably again.
Seeing Emma Campbell so aggrieved, James Brown felt heartache. He extended an arm and pulled Emma into his embrace, softly saying, "Silly girl, why didn't you tell me if there was something wrong?"
