A little after three, John Brown said he was going out to buy groceries, and Emily Berns immediately stood up and said she'd go with him, as did Emma Campbell.
This surprised Emily Berns, and she said, "Emma, aren't you going back?"
Emma Campbell's face turned red, and she said in a low voice, "I'm staying here tonight."
"What? You're... staying here?" Emily Berns' eyes widened instantly. She had been chatting with Emma Campbell for quite a while and learned how Emma Campbell and John Brown met, and that they had maintained their relationship. But she didn't know Emma Campbell had already gotten Gina Lopez's approval. So when she heard Emma Campbell say she was staying here, she was naturally shocked to the point that her jaw almost dropped.
John Brown saw Emma Campbell was embarrassed and quickly chimed in, "Emma is very close with Gina, she occasionally stays over."
