Chapter 172 - Honor Is Dead

In this world there lies six base forms of magic arts, as well as all six of the other Energetic forms of concept.

First there is the Abstract Arts, which lie usually in physical or unique aspects of someone's abilities, this can range from Axis Step all the way up to non-affinity based continental destroyers.

The second is known as Elemental Arts, which is quite self explanatory. The abilities to either imbue, manipulate, or even manifest an element of one's gifted affinity.

The third many call the Divine Arts, which are mostly known as holy blessings and divination, many seers use plenty of Divine Arts, as well as support mages.

Where there is the Divine Arts, there lies the fourth... The Dark Arts... Which many know as runic magic. The ability to create runes and magic circles in order to have access over all three ability types.

As Energetic Circles can Imbue, Manifest, and Manipulate existing energy.

The fifth is called the Mental Arts... The abilities that can access the mind of the user, as well as the mind of the enemy.

And the sixth, which Chase has gotten to know quite well in recent months.

The Aetheric Arts, which is widely known as healing magic.

Chase has barely reached the stage of even having an ability of all three categories of use yet.

However he has only ever used manifestation elemental arts on a chaotic level, with little order.

But he knew that his current arsenal was not going to be nearly enough to beat the force of nature before him.

Time seemed to slow down as he Axis Stepped in the direction of Sazir of House Frostfang.

Everyone and everything watched in anticipation, as Chase eyed the snowflakes that had ceased their fall to the ground in that singular moment.

'Screw it...'

Their blades met with a powerful clash of power, erasing the vast blanket of blood-stained snow from the entire battlefield.

The force blew most of the allied and enemy soldiers off of their feat, and the battle had officially begun.

Chase immediately ducked underneath of a wide horizontal slash, quickly going for the legs of The Wendigo, knocking him into the mud.

Quickly lunging toward the now immobilized Sazir, Chase hurled his dagger at the man's chest.

Then ten giant and jagged glaciers lifted from the ground, nearly taking his arm with one of them.

Chase weaved between the colossal form of manifestation, and tightened his grip on Hero's Fang.

Flames swirled around the edge of the cobalt blade, as he acted into his personalized battle style, with his sword lazily at his right hip, pointed toward the ground.

Sazir had already stood up, and held out his off hand...

A giant blue and white circle of raw energy and magical engravings formed in the air, in front of his palm.

Then a vast blizzard shot from the center of the circle, Chase lifted his blade and summoned a terrible amount of flames to shroud him in the protection of the Phoenix.

Once the blizzard spell cleared, he lifted his left hand and held it with his palm to the sky, and muttered a simple phrase.

"Feather Flare..."

Embers sparked in the cold air around the boy, and as if it was destiny for him to use such an attack in this moment.

The embers formed into hundreds of blazing Phoenix feathers that surrounded him like an army of his own making.

"Burn..."

Then as he closed his fist, the feathers shot toward Sazir, forcing him to throw himself as far out of the way as he could, as each feather that met its mark exploded with rage.

In the smoke of the explosion, Chase had already descended upon Sazir.

With his sword soaring toward The Wendigo's chest, he growled as the flames around him came to life.

Sazir deflected the attack with a terrible grunt, but his eyes told of another story from long ago.

Fear and rage sat within the eyes of the Frostfang general.

'Good...'

Chase lowered himself to the ground, just in time to avoid another horizontal slash.

Then as if perfect timing, a cacophony of ice shards shot toward Chase from unknown directions.

In that moment, everything had become crystal clear.

He no longer had to hide who he was, there was no need for it.

He was the heir of the Phoenix clan, but he was also his mother's child, and the heir of Tartarus itself.

Sliding between Ice Shards, Chase launched a flurry of flourished attacks on The Wendigo, as he returned the favor swiftly.

If you were watching the fight from an outside source, you would have assumed there was not even one attack launched in that short period of time, as both blades were simply moving to fast for the naked eye to see.

'Left, Right, Left, Up, Low, Right!'

Chase swiftly predicted the direction of Sazir's attacks from nothing but his speedy body language.

Then with a great amount of output, Chase Axis Blinked straight through Sazir's body and appeared on the other side of him.

Or at least that it what it looked like to a spectator, Chase had truly Axis stepped so fast around the general, that it looked like he had simply grown tangible on the other side of The Wendigo.

With a piercing attack rocketing toward Sazir, he somehow turned around in the nick of time, deflecting the blade with utmost grace.

No words were exchanged in this battle, as none were needed...

'Ember Draw...'

Chase thought, with a large inhale as he began to feel his energy reserves plummet.

The countless flames scattered across the battlefield began to magnetize toward Chase, and swiftly entered through his mouth, and flowed toward his lungs where they became a sort of gas-like material that passed into his core.

While it wasn't the most healthy form of energy regain, it would certainly be acceptable enough to keep him in this fight.

Swirling Hero's Fang behind his head, and around his back: He began to manifest an inferno of Phoenix Fire.

Then with a strengthened lunge, he pulled the momentum carried blade down and toward the direction of Sazir, where a fire tornado had formed in the heart of the battle.

A large blizzard of ice shards formed in the air around them, as ash and snow fell over the field of war, the skies darkened and the air grew unbreathable.

Then they clashed in the heart of battle again, their blades deflecting off of each other like an ancient dance.

Chase remembered the scene of him sitting in his old living room, admiring the flames within the fireplace.

Then shrouding himself in an onslaught of fire, he shot straight through the defense of Sazir, grabbing him by the throat and pushing him into the mud with a great amount of momentum.

They skidded through the mud for nearly ten seconds, before they lost momentum, and Sazir threw Chase off of him and into a pile of corpses.

The battlefield looked as some sort of frozen volcano, and both fighters had lost their blades somewhere in the mess of fire and ice.

So Chase lunged forward with the advantage, slamming a fist shrouded in fire into the cold ground.

Flames radiated from the heart of the attack, lunging toward Sazir as if they had a mind of their own.

Sazir Axis stepped toward Chase at unimaginable speeds, showing the true gap in their powers.

Using his Ember Draw, he was able to regain some of his energy, but before he could act he was punched hard in the jaw.

Then his stomach took a terrible blow, and then his knee followed.

Chase screamed in rage and pain, as he grabbed the oncoming fist of Sazir, pulling him into the mud Chase took the high ground.

Slamming a fist into the cheekbone of Sazir, he threw another to follow it up, and then another.

Then he summoned a barrage of flames above his head, and pulled them down with drill-like force into the skull of Sazir.

Both growled and screamed, as they exchanged a terrible amount of blows.

Sazir grabbed Chase by the throat, finally landing something within the heart of countless attacks, and dragged him to his side in the mud.

Where Sazir attempted at grappling the boy, but Chase had bitten the hand of the general, drawing blood that seeped into the mud below them.

Then as Sazir recoiled above him, Chase summoned a point blank Feather Flare, that blew a crater in the ground where they had once fought...
