Chapter 193 - King Of Two Kingdoms

Rider sat on a leather chair behind a small wooden desk with several scrolls of paper that he couldn't care less for, resting on its surface.

He couldn't help but let a stupid grin remain on his lips, after he had just killed the person he had hated the most, and it had been incredibly easy.

"Too easy..."

He muttered, looking over at Ivy who stood by the wooden rails of Leander's old academy office.

"My lord, this is how it was meant to be..."

"I know that... Don't play these stupid games with me. What is next on the agenda?"

She shook her head.

"My lord... You should worry about the now, after your irrational decision of exiling the boy... Many students have completely dropped out of the academy and fled the kingdom, as well as high ranking nobles. And while that is acceptable... What is not... Is the royals standing by the boy's side and declaring their anger from public stances and protests."

"Don't pester me with mortal obligations girl..."

"Yes my lord..."

Rider set his chin on his palm and sighed.

"If the boy wishes to put up a fight then I will simply kill him... And kill all who follow him, if it means stepping closer to my goal of seizing the throne, then I could care less..."

Ivy had a look of scorn on her delicate face, which Rider thought did not suit her well, but he did not speak as she had made fair points, but his were twice as fair.

"My lord, it would appear you have a visitor..."

Rider frowned.

"Then let them in fool."

"Sir... It is not one that should be taken lightly..."

"Who is it girl?"

She stuttered, not bothering to take any steps toward the door, and then without any warning the door swung open violently, and a man clad in crimson armor stepped past the guards without any resistance.

Walking up the stairs of Leander's office, Prometheus grumbled and cursed as he walked with unstoppable force.

Rider's heart dropped, and his skin ran cold.

"Rider..."

The not so much of a man spoke in a terribly powerful yet quiet voice, as he made his way onto the same level as Rider, and looked down at him with terrible fury in his burning eyes.

Rider couldn't speak, as the pressure of the room could destroy him with a single disrespectful word.

"We had a deal..."

Prometheus growled, as embers drifted off of illuminated skin.

"F- Forgive me, I had forgotten."

"YOU DO NOT FORGET THE WORD OF A GOD!"

Prometheus's yell caused Ivy to fall on her knees behind the lesser god, and Rider felt a bone in his leg crack from the mighty godly pressure.

"Lord Pr- Pr"

"DO NOT SPEAK MY NAME!"

The god had completely lost the will to let Rider speak, and looked down at him as if he was a bag full of garbage.

"Give me one good reason not to end you where you stand..."

Rider went to speak but was cut off once more.

"Or should I ask of your final words, and cut you off as well as your head?"

Rider was able to let out a short whisper, as he covered his eyes with his arms.

"Y- You- Ca- Cannot intervene... You know your vows..."

Prometheus grimaced, and glanced around the room.

"Leander has protected this sacred place for ages... And you disrespect his honor by ending his life and exiling a being who was not to be exiled? Do you have shame King Rider?"

He asked, purposefully trying to get the king to look him back in the eyes.

Gods were not to be toyed with, and Rider knew that. Even if it was a lesser god, as long as they willed it, even mentioning the name of one could end you existence in a flash.

Very few Paladins could ever reach the strength of growing immune to the weaker god's worldly pressures, but those who did never lasted long in the lands of Vallmora.

"Forgive me..."

Prometheus put a finger on his blazing eyebrow, and sighed.

"I am the lesser god of fire and humanity, and you have brought shame to my religion by slaying my greatest believer out of pure envy and wrath... You will pay for this in the future, I am sure your seer has seen it... A wonderful blaze of fire will bring your downfall... Foolish mortal."

Prometheus turned his back on Rider, letting his tremble in his wake as he slowly made his way out of the room.

Once he left, Rider was in outrage.

"SEER! You have not spoken of this!"

He screamed, slamming his gauntlet into the desk, shattering it, as wood splinters flew in every direction.

Ivy trembled on her knees, no doubt still fearful of the god's presence.

"Stand... Slave, and make yourself useful... What is this blaze of fire... And how do I prevent it?"

He gazed down at his useless lying seer, and clenched his fists so tight that blood dripped from the crevices in his gauntlets.

Along the walls of Leander's office, several bright torches refused to stop burning at intense heat, no doubt the result of the god's endless anger.
