Chase stood above a hole, a very deep hole.
"I have to go down there?"
He asked Zephyr, feeling quite nervous about the task he had been given.
Zephyr shrugged, or at least Chase assumed it was a shrug.
The dragon had three physical forms, one was... Well... The dragon.
The second form was his human form that he could only use for a set amount of time within the world of the living.
And his third was quite confusing, well not really. But it was weird to look at all powerful dragon of death in the form of a cute little doll like creature that sat on his shoulder.
He was quite litterly a devil on his shoulder.
"I sense powerful energy down there... It used to be a mine for a civilization that has become nothing but ruin in these days... However, you need to fight strong opponents that aren't goblins and savage orcs..."
Chase sighed, and figured that there was no point in stalling.
He stepped into the dark hole with zero regard for his own life, and if it meant bringing that damn dragon to death with him, then all the better.
"ARE YOU AN IDIOT!"
Zephyr screamed, hanging onto Chase's shoulder by the leather of his ripped shirt. He also was screaming in a high pitched voice which Chase would have found quite comedic if they weren't plummeting to their death.
"JUST TURN INTO A DRAGON!"
Chase screamed, feeling it was quite obvious, if something went wrong.
"I CANT! ARE YOU STUPID OR SOMETHING! Gods you are just like your mother... IT WILL ATRACT UNWANTED ATTENTION!"
Chase barely heard the one part, but felt a strange amount of pride in it.
"HANG ON!"
Chase screamed at his chibi dragon mentor, summoning Hero's Fang and using the light of its summon to get somewhat of a picture of where they were going.
Sure enough, he seen minecarts and lots of rails. But most importantly he seen eyes looking at him. Very familiar eyes...
"God damn goblins..."
Chase muttered to himself, barely audibly over the gentle breeze of falling from who knows how high. Of course that was sarcasm, and the wind was making his mouth flap around like duck wings.
Then he did the only thing that he thought reasonable, he summoned his phoenix feathers, and once he saw a piece of broken rails just close enough.
He thrusted his sword as far as his arms could go, and just barely caught the rail.
A terrible jerk ran through his body in protest, but he was clinging to the rail, even if it was by a thread.
He took a moment to breath, using the sword as a bar to hold himself up with.
"There are goblins... Lots of them..."
He alerted Zephyr between deep breaths of air.
"Good..."
The chibi muttered to himself, and stroking his ivory beard with that weird elder pose that old folks thought made them look like they had lots of wisdom.
However, Chase would be a fool to not listen to Zephyr's every word, the man was a powerful devil of hell, and a dragon at that.
He was ancient in terms of age, and was strong enough to kill lesser gods... Maybe even a primordial...
"Fool... Do not assume I could ever take on your mother in a fight. I would be utterly obliterated."
"Noted."
Chase needed to let go of the condensed energy of his feathers, so he launched them toward the bottom of the mine to get a decent picture of where he was heading.
The explosion couldn't even be heard over the rate at which his heart sped up.
Beneath him, and deep within the mines... Walked a beast that he was all too familiar with.
"How the hell..."
He muttered to himself, feeling sweat build up on the hand that was gripping the sword.
"Hm... A Hollow... In these parts of the forest... Strange indeed..."
Zephyr rambled on, then he noticed Chase's hand slipping, and started jumping around and yelling about idiocy on his shoulder.
"You're not helping..."
Chase grumbled, feeling a pain in his leg start to burn.
"Then pull yourself up fool."
Chase didn't protest, and used as much strength as he could muster in order to pull himself onto the broken rail.
"That is not the energy signature..."
Zephyr said, pointing toward where the light had captured the giant Hollow.
"What the hell has a stronger signature than that?"
Zephyr glanced around, and then frowned.
"Perhaps this wasn't a good idea..."
