Chapter 201 - Angel

Chase was ripping at his own face, as blood spilled down draining his vision.

"You fool..."

Zephyr then pulled something out of thin air that shined with an emerald green light.

After muttering something inaudible, he shined the light in Chase's eyes, and everything came back in a terrible second.

"SON OF A-"

"Knock it off."

Zephyr demanded, glancing around the dark mineshaft. He was now in his humanoid form, looking quite paranoid.

"There is something up ahead, I suggest you steel yourself."

"STEEL MYSELF?!"

Chase yelled in outrage, violently wiping the blood out of his eyes.

"Summon some flames and swallow them or something... You used too much energy..."

"It doesn't work like that!"

Chase exclaimed, rubbing his eyes on his tattered leather shirt.

"Then grow up..."

Zephyr complained, already starting toward where a faint white light was glowing quite vividly.

"What the hell?"

Chase pushed himself up, feeling his legs tremble as he tried to stand.

He had no real choice but to push through it to the best of his abilities, so he continued on, cursing and muttering as he felt his entire body protest against his actions.

"What is it?"

Chase asked, leaning against a wall of cold stone as he walked.

"I sense Celestial energy... Which is quite bad, because I don't know if I can kill a Celestial in my human form."

Chase had a blank expression on his face.

"What is a Celestial?"

Zephyr groaned.

"Do they teach you nothing in that academy? It's an elemental being born from two lesser gods... They are quite strong if the whole gods part didn't make sense."

"No... I got it..."

Chase muttered, biting on his own lip to keep from collapsing.

As they neared, the light continued to get brighter, and Chase wondered if it would ever stop getting brighter, but knowing the weird world he lived in, he would probably go blind any second now.

Zephyr continued to complain about abstract terms such as "Soul Sight" and not ready for the "First Shackle" or something Chase didn't necessarily care about.

"Hello!"

A weirdly angelic voice called out from the end of the tunnel.

"Is anyone there!"

The voice seemed pained and groggy, as if he had just woken up from a thousand year nap.

"Is that..."

"Silence boy..."

Zephyr looked completely shocked, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Please! Break my bindings kind humans!"

It was a man... Or at least somewhat of a man.

He was beautiful in every way, which was weird for Chase to think.

'Stop that! What the hell am I thinking.'

His facial features were perfect, and his eyes were golden.

But that wasn't even the weirdest part about him, he had shriveled up wings on his back that were made of ivory feathers.

His shirt had been ripped, revealing multiple marks of lashing, which made Chase wonder what the hell could have put an angel in this sort of trap.

"Who are you?"

Chase asked, stepping in front of Zephyr, who had a paralyzed look on his ancient dragon-like face.

"I am... I am... Uhm... Ah yes, I am Lithica the Celestial of Light... But could you please free this peaceful elemental?"

"Impossible..."

Zephyr muttered, clenching his fists with wide eyes.

"What is it?"

Chase asked, not taking his eyes off of the being that could probably kill him in an instant.

"It has sentience..."

The words hung in the air for a moment, and Chase raised an eyebrow feeling a sense of uncanny dread slap him in the face.

"Hey now... That's not very nice, AND YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE I AM A MAN!"

Lithica yelled, but it didn't seem hostile in any way, and more of a pathetic whine.

"Please just help me..."

Chase looked down at him, then back at Zephyr who wasn't really doing or saying anything.

So Chase summoned his sword, and cut the shackle that had been tied around the Celestial's ankle.

"By the God of Light! Watch where you swing that thing!"

Lithica yelled frantically, as he tried to back away from him.

Chase had freed the Celestial, and if Zephyr wanted to stop him he could have, so if they all died his thought process was more so blaming his master.

The angel stood up with a tremble, then stretched out his wings which were quite large compared to when they were shriveled up.

Like huge wings...

Chase backed away slowly, tightening his frail grip on Hero's Fang.

"Relax... I'm not going to eat you..."

Lithica frowned.

"Well if you mention eating someone for no reason, they might get the idea that you might actually try to eat them..."

Chase said, growing more and more anxious.

Then Lithica bowed, sending a shiver down the boy's back.

"I am Lithica, ex servant of the Lesser God of Light... And now I am at your service for eternity!"
