Hannah paused and went on, "But you can never compete with me. I'm a true beauty, a delicate flower that catches a man's eyes."
Charlotte laughed. "Only elders will have the time for flowers. Are you trying to tell me that you could only attract elders?"
Charlotte's gaze lingered on Hannah. "Hmm... Elders would prefer conservative women. They do not prefer ostentatious women like you."
Hannah's face darkened when she heard Charlotte's reply.
"You look unhappy. Well, I can't help it. I enjoy telling the truth." Charlotte teased Hannah after seeing her darkening face.
Hannah spat on the floor. "Elders? I'm not concerned if they like me! Stop your nonsense. Only the world's most distinguished man is worth my concern!"
To Hannah, God was the only man she cared about.
