Chapter 192 - 192. Ancient Civilization – Part B

Nytri looks at Tristan tapping her finger on her armrest, "Have you seen any of the flying crafts…I think silver-colored boxes."

Tristan shakes his head, "No, but the dragon catastrophe seems to be more active these days." He looks down, "The pattern we noticed is that, every time the dragon attacks, all the strongest in the world die at its hand and it's sealed. A decade later, strange creatures start appearing on the earth with flying boxes and plates. They kidnap and ki-"

Naida speaks with rage, "They slaughter us and treat us like livestock!" Alder taps her shoulder and she calms herself. Tristan continues, "The previous civilization, the one Naida is from, noticed this pattern. They sent homunculi to face the dragon and the dragon killed them and retreated. A decade later, the strange beings came."

Naida speaks with a sorrowful tone, "We were prepared, we thought we stood a chance….." She gets teary, "We were helpless before them…we lost our mana and couldn't fight back. The one's able to help were the fairies and Spirit-kin."

"But even the Spirit-kin were forced out of the earth on 'that day'." Alder speaks, "I'm from a much farther civilization. In my time, humanity had developed technology to the point where we could travel over the earth in mere hours. When the strange beings came….." Alder hesitates.

Nytri looks at him worried, "What happened?"

Alder grips his hand, "We were betrayed. We turned on each other instead of the invaders. They handed our technology to them and they used it against us. I saw with my own eyes, how sweet their words were. But I also saw the deceit in them, no truth was found in them...They ate my sister before my eyes." Alfer starts breaking down with tears streaming down his face.

Nytri taps his shoulder and calms him with a skill. She turns to Tristan, "Weren't gods present in each of those times?"

"HA?!" Naida speaks, "Those cowards turned tails and ran the moment those things came! They knew…they knew *SOBS*….they knew we didn't stand a chance *SOBS* and they did nothing to help." She also sobs.

Nytri rubs her chin in thought, "Honestly, I can see that happening, the gods were disgusting when I saw them. Maybe I'll make sure to wipe them all out…..no, some are good. Uncle Agreth built the dungeon as a safe zone for humanity. I believe at least 1 other god did that."

Tristan speaks, "Actually, some gods fought with us. Even with their strength, they could only survive a few hits from the invaders. So, they built havens, that's the dungeons to preserve humanity." Tristan sighs, "That's 1 of the reasons why humanity survived over and over and over again."

"What were the other reasons?" Nytri asks sitting back down.

Tristan opens another book he kept with him to a page, "The invaders were excavating the earth." He points to the images

Nytri looks at the images in deep thought and Tristan keeps speaking, "They kept digging so deep into the earth, the pits left behind were like nations. So far, we've never been close to find out what they wanted with the earth."

Tristan opens to another page, "When they've dug deep enough, winged beings of fire descend from the sky. They fight the invaders further destroying the earth." He flips another page, "They push the invaders back so much that the fight continues outside the earth." He points to another image, "The gods with us then…..sacrificed their lives to watch the battle." He sighs, "Eventually the invaders were pushed back away from earth. But the damage was too much."

Nytri's thoughts, "Figured, the beings of fire must be the Kedoshims, like those 2 creatures told me. The stars descend to fight the invaders and push them back….This is more messed up than anything I've ever seen. From the prophecy and books, there's no way for me to save the earth and fight against these beings. I know how vast space is, they might be in places I've never even thought of before."

Tristan opens another page, "After the war has ended," He points to another image, "This person appears." Nytri looks at the image, she quickly takes the book and looks closely. Her thoughts, "This man….why does He look so familiar? It's like I've seen Him, no I know Him…but I can't remember."

"Do you know this man?" Naida asks.

Nytri puts the book on the table, "It's like I know Him but I can't remember where I've seen Him. Like I know Him personally too personal, but I can't remember." She facepalms and rubs her hair, "Why can't I remember?"

Tristan smiles, "There's no need to beat yourself up, I'm su-" Nytri cuts in glancing at him, "If you knew how powerful I am, you would understand why I'm distressed. No one, absolutely no one can mess with my head, especially my memories."

Tristan nods slowly, "Any case, that's why the earth is not in such a terrible shape. The man like fire restores the earth and leaves. Then the cycle starts again." Tristan leans into his chair, "We don't know how long this has been going on, but we think it's probably a lot more than we can imagine."

"No, I doubt it." Nytri speaks and the 3 look at her with curiosity, "It doesn't make sense to just excavate the earth and leave, or repeat it over and over again. Either they were searching for something or trying to….destroy the universe."

"Huh?" Alder speaks, "How does destroying the earth destroy the universe?"

"I know but it makes sense after I saw it." Nytri speaks, "Under the earth are mighty pillars stretching down to the Monster Realm, I could see those pillars in the Monster Realm but I didn't investigate them much. Old Man Seaweed said the pillars reach the Abyss Realm but I didn't see how that made sense because the Monster Realm is below the Abyss. But…the Kedoshims I met in the Land of the Dead said the Calamities fought against the Fallen outside the earth. That pushed the Monster Realm to reach the bottom of the universe. That means the earth wasn't shaken so the pillars are a sign to show how far down the Monster Realm was pushed."

"Wait," Naida exclaims, "You're talking about a battle that shifted the universe?!"

"Exactly," Nytri speaks, "I've seen some of the Old Ones before and believe me. No one dares to mess with them in the Monster Realm, they're as big as continents. Only fools dare to fight them."

Nytri rubs her chin, "From how strong they are, it's entirely possible for their battle to make shifts in the universe. Not to mention, the Fallen might be immortal. I was planning on paying a visit to Monster Realm, I'll try to meet one of the Old Ones and ask about the pillars."

Naida glances at Alder then at Nytri, "Is it possible for me to join you? I think if I go there and fight the monsters, I can grow stronger."

Nytri shrug, "Of course." Then she points her finger at Naida, "But fighting the monsters is a death wish. Besides, you don't need to kill to Level up."

They ask in unison in shock, "You don't?!"

Nytri is surprised at their responds but she answers, "Yeah, the energy density is so high, all you have to do is train and you can level up. I mean my brother Ryu has never trained before but I'm certain he's at least 20 times stronger than this dragon catastrophe."

Alder's brain seems to short circuit with steam coming from his head, "The humans there might be pretty powerful, huh."

"That's the thing, there're no humans there." Nytri speaks, "I might be the first human to reach that place. My brother Ryu is like really big, when he lies down, I mistake him for a mountain sometimes."

"HUH?!" The 3 are shocked and Nytri grins, "I actually was adopted into a clan in the Monster Realm but," Nytri slumps down, "They always abuse me with too much food. They don't know what a human is so they think I can eat the same as them." Nytri is frustrated scratching her head, "I'm only teenager, how can I eat something 50 times my size?!" she notices everyone is staring at her, "Ahem, as I was saying, I'm probably the first man there."

Tristan stares at Nytri, "….By any chance….are you the one who massacred the gods in the divine realm?"

Nytri shrugs, "It was an accident." Tristan is shocked, "How do you accidentally massa-" Nytri cuts in, "It was an accident! I was only looking for a teeny tiny revenge, is that too much to ask! Besides, it was an accident." Tristan leans into his chair staring at Nytri with a raised brow.

"Ri~ght," Naida stares at Nytri. Alder stares at Nytri in thought, "Maybe….just maybe, she can beat the dragon catastrophe. But she won't be enough to face the invaders. I have to get stronger somehow."

Nytri waves her hand, "Any case, at least we know what to expect. Enemies who outnumber us and can seal our mana, so relying on magic is useless. We don't have enough time to work on technology and if we lose, they take it and upgrade it against us. I'll inform the Xenos to keep a look out outside the earth and Ivan to work with you. Is the entire Cathgul in on this?"

Tristan nods, "Of course, only the higher echelon is aware. They've formulated plans but things don't look good." Nytri tilts her head, "Higher echelon, what about humanity?" Tristan scoffs, "Humanity, they can't handle the truth. One of our people leaked it and they stoned him to death."

"Yikes," Nytri speaks, "At least you have an army to match them, right?" Tristan looks away and Nytri gets up and leaning closer, "Right?"

Tristan sighs, "Since the death toll is too high, we planned on focusing our resources on an elite small force."

Nytri raises a brow, "So hide humanity and," She moves her hands to the left, "Send an elite force against billions," She moves her hands to the right, "Possibly trillions of invaders?" She makes her hands showing a lot above her head, "Smart plan." She sits back in her chair, "Even with an elite force they won't do. The Old Ones couldn't kill them and they're Calamities, humanity can't even get rid of this dragon catastrophe let alone face beings capable of fighting the Old Ones. This is a horrible plan."

Tristan smiles wryly, "I'll put that before the council so we readjust."

"Better," Nytri speaks, "Also, can you get me a list of traitors who might work with the invaders? I'd like to deal with them after I'm done with the dragon catastrophe, probably on vacation or when it surfaces."

Alder looks at Nytri, "Can you really defeat the dragon calamity?"

Nytri shrugs, "I'm sure it'll be easy. The energy density on earth is very low so if it was an adult, it would probably leave here the moment it noticed. If it's a child then it's probably like a kid with malnutrition. If it was born here then it'll be worse. Besides, if things look bad, Azuria has about 200 other Calamities on par with me. There's no need to worry."

Alder is as white as a sheet again and Naida is shaking him to restore him. Tristan chuckles, "You really are an interesting person." Nytri chuckles.
