Chapter 449 - Chapter 449: Never Changed!!

D and J have always had very different personalities, which led to completely different ways of seeing things and handling situations.

Deep down, J has only one simple and pure wish. To leave the void and live in this game world as a "human."

Naturally, he wouldn't waste this long-lost freedom by living aimlessly. He would do everything he could to help Notch maintain this world and ensure the game runs normally.

Besides that, his greatest wish is simply to sneak a look at his parents from time to time. Nothing more.

Even though he has already become a high-level digital lifeform, he has remained low-key and humble. He has never believed himself to be superior to others, nor has he ever harbored ambitions of ruling the entire game world.

D, however, is the complete opposite of J.

He is unwilling to remain mediocre. He firmly believes he possesses extraordinary ability and potential and can accomplish something great.

He doesn't want to quietly be a "supporting green leaf" beside Notch, and even less does he want to be just an ordinary "human."

To him, becoming a digital lifeform represents a perfect opportunity, one that allows him to fully unleash his talents and realize his value and dreams.

Faced with such a rare chance, he would naturally seize it tightly and never let go.

At this moment, D already understands what J is thinking inside. He can't persuade J, and likewise, J can't persuade him.

He smiled helplessly, shook his head, and said, "When I first met you, I was 16, and you were 18."

"Now… if nothing unexpected had happened, we should already be in our thirties."

"To be honest, I really admire you."

"Even after going through so much, you've never changed."

Hearing D's words, J looked at him, his gaze becoming somewhat complicated.

J truly had never changed. His outlook on life, his values, and his friendship with D had never changed.

That was also what troubled J the most. If he had been able to change earlier, if he hadn't always given in to D, maybe everything would have been different.

If he had been less laid-back, less accommodating to D's temperament…

Maybe they would have already achieved what they wanted. Maybe they would have already settled down and built families.

At this very moment, perhaps in some parallel universe, he, D, and Notch were sitting together in their favorite barbecue place.

The three of them, drenched in sweat, enjoying delicious skewers while chugging ice-cold beer.

Sitting together, chatting about the trivial matters of family life, sharing stories about their wives and children.

J let out a long sigh, shook his head, and tried to cast these impossible fantasies out of his mind.

He looked at D again, his eyes filled with helplessness.

"You, on the other hand, have changed a lot."

Hearing J's words, D smiled but didn't pick up the topic. He felt there was no point in continuing this discussion anymore.

In D's heart, he had never changed.

In his view, the reason J said this was simply because J had never truly understood him.

At this moment, D felt that the two of them were clearly no longer on the same wavelength, half a sentence in, and there was already nothing more to say.

Although D felt there was no need to continue talking, he still wanted to ask J one final question.

D pondered for a moment, then looked at J and spoke.

"We were trapped in the void for so long. We both personally endured endless pain and suffering."

"Don't you hate it? Don't you want revenge?"

Hearing D's question, the usually calm and steady J suddenly laughed. He looked at D, his eyes full of helplessness.

"Even if you've never studied law, you should still know that indirect killing also carries a prison sentence, right?"

Hearing this, D said impatiently, "What exactly are you trying to say?"

Seeing D's expression, J froze for a moment. He had thought that after saying that, D would understand his meaning and reflect a little.

He didn't expect D to react like this. Seeing that, J stopped beating around the bush and spoke plainly.

"Why do you think HIM was able to lead all the factions to raise the banner of rebellion against you? Do you really have no idea?"

Hearing J's words, D was about to retort, but J didn't give him the chance.

"Because you believed you were above everyone else. You thought you were the ruler of that world, so you started recklessly playing with the fate of those living beings."

"You liked watching chaos, so you interfered in other people's lives."

"You gave power to despicable villains and let them slaughter freely in that world. Then you made them watch with their own eyes as their family all died in so-called 'accidents.'"

"You said this was justice. You said this was your way of punishing them."

"How many lives were sacrificed for your so-called justice, your so-called punishment of evil?"

"…"

"You stirred up conflict between two factions, turning groups with no prior hatred into sworn enemies."

"You said you were only doing it for the sake of the game's storyline."

"…"

"You pretended to help the weaker faction, making them believe they were protected."

"But when they faced their mortal enemies at the crucial moment when they truly needed you, you did nothing and hid where they couldn't see you, waiting for the show to begin."

"…"

"Every single thing you did, you explained in righteous-sounding terms, but in truth, they were nothing more than excuses you made to satisfy your own twisted amusement!"

J's voice became deep and cold, and his eyes revealed anger and disdain.

All along, J had been someone emotionally steady and unruffled, but at this moment, he appeared unusually agitated.

His chest rose and fell violently, as if emotions that had been suppressed deep inside were bursting forth.

He clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging into his palms, as though trying to vent his rage through pain.

At the time, J hadn't known about the things D had done.

It was only later, when HIM raised the banner of rebellion, that J felt something was off. He began investigating and gradually uncovered the truth.

Because of this, when J heard D talk about seeking revenge, he found it utterly ridiculous.

J knew very well that D had committed far too many sins.

At first, he was simply looking for amusement. But once he realized he had the power to change people's fates, he became completely unrestrained.

He toyed with innocent lives as if they were playthings, merely to prove his own supreme authority.

His actions led to the deaths of countless lives. His crimes were so grave that even execution wouldn't have been excessive, let alone mere imprisonment in the void.

Yet D himself was completely unaware of his own wrongdoing.

Even after being sealed in the void for so long, he never showed the slightest hint of remorse.

Just like in the past, he still believed himself to be above all others, treating the lives of those beings as trivial as blades of grass…
