Chapter 329 Book 7 What a Village
The imposing ten-meter-high concrete walls of Roem village loomed before Prince Lam and his retinue. Camouflaged figures, their faces familiar from their time while traveling with Li An's group, stood sentinel atop the watchtowers, their gazes sharp and observant. Prince Lam exchanged a bewildered look with his general, Theron. This small border village of Xian Town was more fortified than many fortresses in the Estoc Empire.
By this time, Li An had already taken off her bulky exoskeleton and was only wearing the soft inner exoskeleton under her robe. This would make her blend with her soldiers easily.
As they passed through the heavy gates, the sounds of a bustling community washed over them. The air was thick with unfamiliar scents – the savory aroma of cooking food unlike anything they had encountered, the metallic tang of industry, and a faint sweetness they couldn't quite place.
