The conversation made the whole group become tense once again. Meera frowned and threw a glaring look at Kavita, who suddenly shifted her gaze and looked the other way.
Soon, the group quickly went back to their formation as they are now nearing their target location.
It took another hour of hard hiking before Rishab, who was scouting ahead with Meera, raised a hand.
"Stop. I smell them. Strong ammonia and ozone—the Quill Beasts are just ahead, feeding on the moss-covered rocks. A pack of maybe fifteen. They're massive. Chi signatures are all at the peak of Chi Gathering late state."
The fear was palpable in the air. Gautam was visibly trembling.
Meera stepped up to Rishab. "Report on the environment."
Rishab, hearing the command from the leader, reluctantly pointed. "They're clustered around a small clearing, but the perimeter is dense with thorn bushes. We only have three clear lines of sight. It's too exposed for a frontal assault."
