Chapter 8 - Chapter 9: Pierce Them

Hank's words made Su Xiao's eyes light up.

He finally confirmed the current timeline—this was a scene from the original work, taking place three days before the burning of the Trash Terminal.

In other words, within the maximum duration of his mission, the Trash Terminal would be burned.

For Su Xiao, this was undoubtedly good news. The more chaos, the more opportunities he had—it's easier to fish in troubled waters.

Hank began walking out of the warehouse, but as if suddenly remembering something, he turned back and said,

"Our boss is called Brandon Oka. You're part of the guard squad now—how can you not know our boss's name?"

Su Xiao smiled lightly and nodded.

The two walked out of the warehouse. By now, the sky had darkened, and the streets were full of weary pedestrians.

Through small talk, Su Xiao learned that the burly man he saw earlier—now his 'superior'—Brandon Oka, had served as head of the guard squad for nearly ten years. He was said to have broad connections, interacting with officials in the royal palace and even having been summoned by the king.

But Su Xiao didn't entirely believe Hank. The man seemed to be flattering his boss.

It might be true that Brandon Oka held the position for ten years, but whether he had real influence was questionable.

After all, staying in one position for ten years might also mean that his career had stagnated in the capital.

Just as Hank was about to bid farewell, Su Xiao took the initiative.

"How about a drink? I just arrived in the capital today—there's a lot I want to learn from you."

Hank pretended to hesitate but eventually agreed under Su Xiao's "enthusiastic invitation." The two entered a tavern.

After a few rounds of rice wine, Hank's face turned red, and his breath reeked of alcohol. He became much more talkative.

"I'm telling you, if the boss hadn't gotten himself into trouble back then, he'd already have a post in the royal palace by now. Who did he have to mess with… hic~"

Hank hiccupped and stopped mid-sentence, as if realizing he'd said something he shouldn't have.

Su Xiao raised his glass and clinked it with Hank's. While Hank drank, the wine in Su Xiao's glass mysteriously disappeared.

In such a dangerous mission world, drinking alcohol was as good as asking to die—Su Xiao hadn't taken a single sip.

"Ah well, never mind. The boss is still living it up these days—he's a regular at Pleasure Street. Makes me jealous, honestly."

Su Xiao gave a casual reply and poured Hank another drink.

After a few more rounds, it was around 7 p.m. Su Xiao and Hank parted ways outside the tavern, and the streets were now fully lit.

Lighting a cigarette, Su Xiao gazed thoughtfully at Hank's retreating figure through a veil of smoke.

Hank had provided a lot of intel, and nighttime was Su Xiao's time to move.

Placing one hand on the hilt of his blade, Su Xiao stopped a passerby. The man initially looked annoyed, but when he saw Su Xiao in a guard's uniform, his expression turned fearful.

"Tell me—where's Pleasure Street?"

The man gave Su Xiao a knowing smile that all men understood, then pointed him in the right direction.

That smile, combined with the name "Pleasure Street," gave Su Xiao a good idea of what kind of place it was.

His "boss" sure had a lot of energy.

….

Pleasure Street by Night

Under the glow of lanterns, a district bathed in pink and red light came alive.

Buildings on either side of the street were mostly two- or three-story structures with pointed roofs covered in glazed tiles. Lanterns—round or square—hung at the doors.

Soft music drifted through the air, mingling with laughter. Many men and women strolled arm-in-arm.

In the upper floors of the buildings, women in revealing outfits and holding slender pipes smiled seductively, trying to attract passing customers.

This was Pleasure Street—the Red Light District of the pirate world.

On the rooftop of one of the buildings, Su Xiao, clad in black, crouched silently, holding [Dragon Flash].

Ever since arriving in the pirate world, Su Xiao hadn't taken action. But tonight, he would assassinate his first target—a crucial step in his mission.

A loud laugh echoed from the street below.

That familiar voice immediately drew Su Xiao's attention. The one laughing—wasn't that his 'boss' from earlier?

Brandon Oka, followed by two guards, was swaggering down Pleasure Street.

Pedestrians quickly stepped aside upon seeing him, their faces a bit tense.

"He's finally here."

Hidden atop the roof, Su Xiao tailed Brandon and his guards.

Soon, the three entered one of the buildings. Su Xiao moved through the night, arriving at the rooftop of that same building.

He waited a moment before silently dropping down and pressing himself against the wall to avoid being spotted.

Using the cover of darkness and dim lighting, Su Xiao began checking room by room.

He didn't need his eyes—only his ears.

He had specially trained for this—he remembered Brandon Oka's voice clearly.

After checking three rooms, he found his target. A conversation between a man and a woman came from within.

"When are you going to 'rescue me'? Are you really going to keep letting me serve other men here?"

"Very soon, I promise. This place belongs to the Left Minister—it's not just about money. But I'm working on it. The Left Minister is close to the King..."

Su Xiao's expression remained blank as he listened. But the conversation grew more "intimate," making him frown.

Still, now wasn't the time. He needed to wait for Brandon Oka's most vulnerable moment to strike.

Soon, the chance came—nearby guards began chatting, their attention slipping.

Su Xiao quietly unsheathed his blade and gently pushed open the window, slipping inside without a sound.

Inside, the man and woman were embracing intimately.

Su Xiao had picked this exact moment because only now would Oka let his guard down.

He moved toward Oka step by step, silent as a hunting leopard.

Five meters. Three meters. One meter.

Su Xiao stood behind Oka, raised his sword, and aimed the tip at Oka's neck. At this angle, Oka's head was turned away from him. The woman beside him seemed to sense something—but too late.

With a firm grip, Su Xiao drove the blade into Oka's neck with all his strength.

Squelch.

The sword pierced clean through Oka's neck—like slicing through paper—and stabbed into the woman beside him.

If he only killed Oka, the woman would scream and bring the guards in. That would be dangerous.

Even ordinary people in the pirate world were strong—let alone trained guards.

One stroke. Two kills. No hesitation.

This is why Reincarnation Paradise chose him as the Hunter.

A Hunter isn't chosen just for talent—they must have the courage and resolve to kill.
