Chapter 24 - Re: Lucent's Training - End

[RAIDS ONLINE @ Location - Area CC+1 Barren State]

[Rank D Ragnarok Beast, Codename – Werewolf]

—ROOAAARRRRR!—

'Orion Claws'

"Hey, hey, hey! I said you're only allowed to use the Charge Skill. Don't go cheating, Lucent!"

"How the heck am I supposed to defeat this Werewolf with just the Charge Skill, SilverPup?!"

Continuing their raid against the Rank D Ragnarok Beasts in the empty, desolate Area CC+1 Barren State, Luel is currently fighting a Rank D Werewolf under two handicaps set by SilverPup.

The first handicap: Luel must fight using only 15 percent of his current Link Force. Typically, Rank D Ragnarok Beasts are meant to be challenged by players with Link Force ranging from 25 percent to 50 percent, or at least around 35 percent for a fair fight.

Fighting at just 15 percent Link Force and still managing to defeat and devour a Rank D Ragnarok Beast is a fast-track method to increase Link Force—but only for skilled RAIDS ONLINE players capable of overcoming such a huge disparity with pure game sense and ability.

The second handicap: Luel is limited to using only the Charge Skill from his Devour Beast Orion Class. This leaves him with nothing but a temporary boost in speed and strength—no claws to tear, no fangs to devour.

—ROOAAARRRRR!—

The Werewolf charges at Luel with both arms, ready to tackle him to the ground and rip him apart.

If this were back during the Boss Raid against the Rank A Ragnarok Beast, Cerberus, when Luel had 37 percent Link Force, stopping this kind of charge would've been easy. But now? That's just wishful thinking. He's far weaker than before.

Still, no matter how weakened he is, running away isn't an option.

'Charge'

Luel activates his Charge Skill again to intercept the incoming Werewolf.

In terms of raw speed and strength in close combat, Luel is definitely outmatched. But as SilverPup said—Ragnarok Beasts don't fight fair. They never have. So why should Luel?

Skill Effect: Delayed Activation

This isn't a bug—just a trick experienced players use to throw off the enemy's rhythm or timing.

Luel triggers his Charge Skill, advancing toward the Werewolf using only 25 percent of the total speed boost. As the distance closes, the remaining 75 percent of the speed kicks in all at once—like nitro fuel hitting an engine.

With a burst of acceleration, Luel slides beneath the beast's outstretched arms, grabs its right foot, and yanks it off balance.

Unlike four-legged Ragnarok Beasts, humanoid types like Werewolves, Weretigers, and Werebears share a familiar weakness: injure their legs, and their combat ability plummets.

—SNAP!—

—ROOAAARRRRR!—

A loud crack and an agonized scream echo as Luel twists the Werewolf's right foot, breaking its knee with all his might.

While the beast thrashes on the ground in pain, Luel climbs onto its back, pins it down, and begins choking it with both arms.

If only he could use Orion's Fangs to summon the silver wolf aura, the fight would've been over already. It wouldn't take this much effort to finish off the Rank D Beast or stop it from calling reinforcements.

—ROOAAARRRRR!!!—

But now Luel can distinguish the difference—a Ragnarok Beast about to fight to the death, versus one calling for help.

"I guess taking down a Rank D Werewolf at only 15 percent Link Force while limited to Charge Skill is still too much for you, Lucent."

"If you get it, then let me use my other skill already!"

"Fine, fine, fine... Devour that thing already so we can get out of here before the others show up."

'Orion Fangs'

After devouring the dark aura from the Werewolf's lifeless body with his Devour Skill, Luel and SilverPup make their escape.

As they're running, Luel uses the moment to ask a lingering question.

"So, what would you have done if you had to fight the Werewolf under the same handicaps?"

"Easy. Unlike a certain someone, I'd break its throat first—so it can't call for backup."

"You should've told me to do that from the start!"

"Sheesh! What, you want me to spoon-feed you forever, Lucent? Didn't I send you all those videos to study? Anyway, after that, I'd just beat it to a pulp with martial arts powered up by the Charge Skill's boost."

"...Wait—with what?"

Luel and SilverPup exchange blank stares.

"...Wait... Don't tell me you didn't take any martial arts or sports classes in high school?"

"Nope. I was in the Go-Home Club, after all..."

Before Luel could finish, SilverPup dropkicks him from behind, sending him face-first into the ground.

"That explains why you're so weak in close combat! If you want to keep that promise to Selene, you better start training martial arts in real life!"

After escaping safely, Luel and SilverPup log out of RAIDS ONLINE, ending the livestream of Luel's gameplay.
