Even I felt like I wasn't myself in that moment. Despite knowing it was just a one-sided outburst of anger, I couldn't seem to stop it. Part of me desperately wanted to shut it all down—stop the old me from emerging. If only he had left, I wouldn't have said those nonsensical things that hurt Aiden's feelings. But all I could do was watch helplessly as that version of me spouting nonsense, hurting someone I secretly cared about.
That old me, combined with the doubts I'd been carrying about why Aiden kept hanging around me, only made my emotions spiral further out of control. It was like I was caught in a storm I couldn't quite control.
"What is it about you, anyway? You've been secretly messing around in the shadows with a few boring girls like me, haven't you? You enjoy leading them on and replacing different girls and then making fun of them, don't you?" I said, my voice trembling with anger.
"Stop it," he replied, attempting to cut me off.
