Kent obviously didn't expect Adin to laugh at what he said. In his view of Adin, he saw him as a no-nonsense kind of guy, so the last thing he expected from him was to laugh that loud and freely at his words.
This action changed the way he sees Adin.
But since he would love to revel in flipping Adin's mockery, Kent knew he had to change his mind somehow. It would be a long stretch, but he had to do it.
Karma, from what he had seen recently, seemed to hate him, so he didn't want to slip up. Thankfully, he had lived long enough to know how to go around Karma without offending him.
'If he takes offence, then he can just go fuck himself.' Kent said inwardly, unaware that Karma heard everything.
