It took a long while for the explosion to fade.
"What a terrifying spell…!"
Kyôka and Seilah stared wide-eyed. The demons of the Books of Zeref had been born for one purpose: to slay Zeref himself. Yet, when they realized they could not, he abandoned them.
Even so, Zeref remained their god. To kill him was their divine command—an eternal goal burned into their very existence.
That was the reason for the Fez plan: erase the magic of the continent, strip Zeref of his power, and finally end the immortal sorcerer.
And now, Mard Geer had cast the spell he intended to use on Zeref himself.
The smoke cleared.
The dragon's colossal body was gone. Kyôka's lips curled into a smile. "Finally…!" But her words faltered.
Standing in the center of the devastation was no dragon, but a figure in human form.
"Not bad…" Su Yan's voice was calm, almost mocking.
He had shed the bulk of his dragon shape, transforming into his partial human form. In this state, his agility, speed, and raw power surged even higher, perfectly suited to his Haki.
Mard Geer's face twisted. Even at full force, his spell had failed.
"Crush Claws!!"
Kyôka lunged, claws flashing, slicing at Su Yan.
CLANG—!
Her blades shattered like glass.
"What?!" Kyôka froze in disbelief.
Su Yan's fist, coated in armament Haki and the crushing force of his Conqueror's Haki, drove deep into her stomach.
"GUAAHHHH!!"
Blood spurted from her mouth as she was hurled through the air. The internal destruction of his Haki tore her apart from within—death was only moments away.
"Kyôka-sama!!"
Seilah's eyes widened in horror. The Hell Core was destroyed. There would be no resurrection. Death was final now.
"You monster!! How dare you hurt Kyôka-sama!! Die!!!"
Seilah blurred forward, fists slamming again and again into Su Yan's face.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Su Yan didn't even flinch. He stood unmoving, letting her blows land.
"Angry? How rare. A demon of the Book of Zeref, enraged over the death of a comrade. Then tell me—shouldn't the families of the humans you slaughtered feel the same?"
His fist lashed out.
CRACK—!!
"GUAAHHHH!!!"
Seilah spat blood and flew back. Mercy had no place in Su Yan's strikes. Demon or woman—death was what they deserved.
Now only one remained.
Su Yan's eyes locked on Mard Geer, the King of Tartaros.
Mard's composure finally cracked. This man… this monster… his presence was like Acnologia's itself.
"Wh–Who are you?! No human could ever be this strong!!"
"Fairy Tail. Su Yan. There are plenty of powerful humans in this world—you've simply never known them. And Zeref, the god you worship, is a human too."
In a flash, Su Yan was before him.
"Blade of White Light!!"
Countless blades of light bloomed and spun like roses, lashing toward him.
SHRRRIIIP! BOOM!
The blades slashed across Su Yan's body, but not a single one pierced his defense.
BOOM!!!
Su Yan stomped the ground. Cracks split the earth as he rocketed upward like a cannonball, slamming toward Mard.
Mard tried to retreat, wings beating furiously.
SNAP!
A hand clamped around his ankle.
"Got you."
"Oh no—!!"
Mard felt an unstoppable force drag him down.
SLAMMMM—!!!
The impact was like a meteor strike. The ground caved in, rubble exploding outward. Mard howled, coughing blood as his organs tore inside him.
He scrambled back, trembling, only to look up and see Su Yan already descending again.
BOOOOM!!!
The ground shattered once more.
Su Yan rose from the crater, expression cold and merciless.
"Thorns!!!"
Vines erupted from the ground, coiling around Su Yan's body.
But with each step he took forward, they snapped apart one by one.
SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!
"This… this can't be… My curse was crafted to kill Zeref! How can it do nothing?!"
"Perhaps it could kill Zeref. But it will never kill me."
"White Light Bomb!!!"
A massive sphere of light roared toward Su Yan.
He swatted it aside with one palm.
BOOM!! The blast detonated harmlessly in the distance.
"God Step!!"
Su Yan vanished and reappeared in front of Mard. Lightning and Haki wrapped around his dragon claw fist, crackling with purple fury.
"Repent… in hell."
