I woke up and had no idea what time it was.
The sky outside was still that flat, heavy gray. Not quite night anymore, but not morning either. The kind of gray that sat on the mountains in Siberia and never really decided what it wanted to be. Snow light. The windows in my bedroom were frosted at the corners, and beyond them the pines were just dark silhouettes, buried deep.
I groaned and rolled onto my back.
The bed was too warm. The blankets felt too heavy. Or maybe I was just too big to be comfortable anymore.
