"Damn it." With a fierce swipe at the low shrubs in front of him, Julian's forward steps suddenly paused, then he slowly retreated.

The clear lake water splashed, and David, immersed fully in the water, looked at Julian with a bright smile, occasionally flicking his fish tail.

"Julian, come down and play." David rested his chin on the shore, blinking his innocent, big eyes like Kazilan's.

Julian's wary gaze circled David's face a few times, then he forced a dry laugh, "What are you doing here..."

David: "Did you think I was dead? No, according to our merfolk traditions, before dying, we swallow our loved one so our flesh and blood may merge...You promised me before..."

Julian wasn't too concerned about one David, but things were becoming increasingly eerie, so he dared not act rashly.
