The trio stepped into the control room, the door closing behind them with a heavy metallic thud. The room was bathed in a dim, flickering glow from an array of monitors that stretched along both walls. The screens hummed softly, each displaying different parts of the facility—hallways, laboratories, and holding cells—like a fragmented mosaic of the hospital's secrets. Three chairs sat in the middle of the room, swiveling slightly as if inviting them to take control.
Crimson's jaw dropped as he stepped closer to one of the screens. His fingers hovered over it before lightly tapping the glass. "Whoa... they look like magic orbs," he muttered, his reflection warped by the screen's glow.
Lilith leaned in, her tone tinged with awe. "It's like they let us see what's happening without actually being there. This... this is insane."
Jon groaned, shaking his head "You two are impossible. They're surveillance monitors. Not magic. You know, if you hadn't left us in Alpha Dawn, I would have been living under a rock just like you."
Crimson shot him a mischievous grin. "Well, then that's mean you have forgiven me, for helping you keep up with all this fancy tech."
Jon paused, distaste flickering in his eyes, but only for a moment. "Touché," he said, shaking his head with a smirk. "But here's the thing—while you were busy being free, Sebastian, Gale and I were learning. Alpha Dawn may have treated us badly, but we made sure to catch up with their technical advancement. So, step aside and let me do my thing."
He strode to the main console, his fingers flying over the controls. The monitors flickered, their feeds shifting rapidly as Jon manipulated the system. Lilith crossed her arms, watching skeptically.
"Found what we were looking for already, huh?" she quipped.
Jon glanced over his shoulder with a grin. "Give me some credit, Lieutenant," he said, gesturing toward the rank badge on her stolen uniform. "I've been waiting for this moment. You're about to see the skills I acquired while being locked up here."
The central monitor flared to life, revealing grainy footage of Toxic dragging Miles and Page into El's office. Miles hung limply over her shoulder, unconscious, while she yanked Page forward by the collar, her limp body barely resisting.
"That's Miles!" Crimson exclaimed, tapping Jon's shoulder with urgency.
Jon sighed heavily, his jaw tightening. "Ok, Let's see. He was my contingency plan to kill you, remember?"
"Move the magic orb forward so we can see what happens next!" Lilith demanded, shaking Jon's arm with growing frustration.
Jon threw his hands up, brushing her off. "Would you stop? Do you think is that easy, The last time I messed with one of these things was years ago! I need to focus."
He inhaled sharply, staring at the console. "How did Lane and Ray say this worked again?" he muttered under his breath. Tentatively, he pressed a button, and the footage rewound to a guard snoozing during his shift. "Not that," Jon muttered, scowling as he jabbed another button.
A new surveillance feed blinked onto a different monitor. The trio froze as a chilling voice echoed through the speakers:
"I had you right in my grasp..."
The footage showed El standing over Miles whose hands were bound as he kneeled on the floor, his eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. The three watched in tense silence as El leaned closer to Miles, his tone dripping with malice.
Jon's fists clenched tightly, his knuckles whitening. "So that's why Sebastian reacted like that to El's blood back then," he said through gritted teeth, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Yes," Lilith confirmed, her eyes narrowing. "El is a member of the Legion of Rigour." She glanced at Jon. "That means he's got demon blood in him."
Jon's jaw tightened further as he turned back to the monitor. "I really thought he was an inventor with just bitter blood which Sebastian hated. But turns out he is a monster in every sense of the word."
Crimson took a step closer to the monitor, his face pale. "If he's got Miles... we're running out of time."
Jon's expression darkened as he slammed a button, furiously cycling through the feeds. "Then let's stop wasting time."
"Wait, stop! What's that on the floor?" Lilith exclaimed, pointing to the monitor.
The audio crackled, and El's voice filled the room. "Go ahead and try it."
The footage showed Miles lunging toward something on the floor, fists clenched, while El loomed in the background, his grin wide and taunting.
"Whatever it is, it must be important if Miles is willing to fight over it," Crimson said urgently. "Keep going. We need to know if El has Miles!"
Suddenly, all the monitors flickered and went dark, plunging the room into silence.
"What just happened?" Jon growled, spinning around. "Crimson, did you touch something?"
"No! I didn't do anything!" Crimson snapped.
"Guys!" Lilith's voice wavered as she pointed toward the door. The lights beneath it flickered violently, shadows of electricity sparking and dancing against the floor.
Jon instinctively stalked toward the door. "Who the hell is out there?" he snarled, reaching for the handle.
"Wait! Don't do it!" Crimson shouted, his voice thick with panic.
Before Jon could react, a deafening boom shook the room. The metallic door exploded inward in a blinding burst of electricity, slamming into Jon with brutal force. He was sent flying across the room, his body crashing into the wall with a sickening thud before crumpling to the floor.
Crimson and Lilith froze, their eyes wide as fear coursed through them. Sparks crackled in the air, the acrid smell of burning metal filling their noses.
From the doorway emerged a figure cloaked in electricity, the air around them charged with lethal energy. The faint glow of their skeletal mask and piercing blue hair sent a chill through the room.
"Morgan," Lilith whispered, her voice trembling.
The intruder tilted his head, his voice cold and mocking. "I should have known the moment, I heard those two names. Guess it's revenge time."
Crimson staggered back, his heart hammering in his chest as he shot a glance at Lilith. "Revenge… do you know this guy?"
Lilith's eyes fixed on the masked figure, her body tense and ready. Fear flickered for a moment before her resolve hardened like steel. "No. I don't know him—but he clearly knows us." Her gaze narrowed. "That mask... it's hiding more than just his face."
The figure let out a cold, guttural laugh, each syllable dripping with malice. Sparks of electricity crackled around his fingertips, illuminating the skeletal contours of his mask. "You really don't remember me?" he said, his voice venomous. "Good. This proves my point even more." He stepped forward, electricity humming around his body like a living aura.
"Who are you?" Crimson demanded, his voice shaky but defiant.
The masked man tilted his head, mockery evident in his tone. "You may call me Morgan… but to you, I'm simply little vengeance incarnate. You don't need to remember me—because by the time I'm done, no one would remember you."
Crimson bristled, glancing at Lilith. "Lilith, this guy's not playing around."
"I can see that," she muttered, stepping forward, her fists clenched tightly. "Morgan, is it? If you want revenge, step up and take your shot. But you should know we have faced worst."
Morgan chuckled, the room buzzing with static as electricity danced across the floor. "Oh, I intend to. Ending you and your friends has been my sole purpose since that day."
