Chapter 428 - Chapter 428: The Death of Kozuki Oden

Chapter 428: The Death of Kozuki Oden

Charlotte completely overwhelmed Kozuki Oden—

In Haki, in swordsmanship—he dominated every aspect.

Only Oden's willpower, his sword skills, and Armament Haki earned him the barest measure of Charlotte's respect.

But everything else?

Not worth mentioning.

Swish!

Another slash—

Oden's left arm was just a moment too slow.

Shhk!

It was cut clean off.

"Unghh!"

His face twisted in agony as waves of pain crashed into his brain.

Now missing an arm, Oden's situation worsened drastically.

His breathing was ragged, his chest heaving—

He was on the brink of collapse.

"Let me send you to hell."

Charlotte spun his sword.

"Youkai Sword—Overlord's Heaven!"

Conqueror's Haki once again wreathed his Seven-Star Sword.

Red and green lightning flickered down its length.

"Die."

The slash exploded forth.

The shockwave, fueled by the full strength of a Great Swordsman, roared toward Oden.

---

> Is this the end? Am I really… dying like this?

Father… Wano…

I'm coming to join you.

Suddenly, Oden's eyes sharpened.

He bit down on Ame no Habakiri, and gripped Enma tightly in his right hand.

Conqueror's Haki erupted like a storm, a hellish aura shrouding his battered form.

"Oden Two-Sword Style—Paradise Ten Fists!"

His blades surged with black and purple Armament Haki as he charged forward—ready to die.

Charlotte's slash shredded his skin and muscle—

But Oden didn't stop.

Crossing his blades in an X—

He tore through the air like lightning—

Swish!

He passed through Charlotte—

And stopped behind him.

---

The battle was over.

Oden stood silently, blades still crossed.

Charlotte stood motionless, sword mid-swing.

A breath later—

Oden's knees buckled.

He collapsed forward—

Ame no Habakiri slid from his mouth.

His body hit the ground with a dull thud.

No movement.

No sound.

Only his right hand still clenched around Enma.

Charlotte remained still.

Splat!

A small cut on his cheek opened.

Blood trickled down.

He touched it with his fingers.

"…A dying strike, huh? Nearly had me."

He turned to look at Oden's lifeless body and shook his head.

"Still had one last trick up your sleeve, huh?"

He walked over.

Raised his sword—

But paused.

"…No need. He's already dead. Decapitating him now would be an insult. He was… a worthy opponent."

Instead, he drove the Seven-Star Sword straight through Oden's heart.

Charlotte had learned this habit after killing Kaido—

Always make sure. Always finish the job.

No severed heads—but always, a pierced heart.

No survivors. No miracles.

---

"Lord Oden!"

The sudden silence of the battlefield snapped everyone out of their trance.

Caesar and the Red Scabbards looked toward the fallen warrior.

And what they saw—

Broke them.

"No! Oden!!"

Kin'emon screamed, madness in his eyes.

He charged at Caesar, swords flaring with fury.

"Pirates—DIE!"

The other Scabbards followed, abandoning all defense, throwing themselves at Caesar.

"Ugh, seriously?! My dad killed Oden, not me!"

Caesar grumbled, trying to block the barrage.

But even he was forced to retreat slightly—

Blades slashed his scales, blood sprayed.

His armor cracked—though they were minor wounds.

For Caesar, just surface damage.

But now, he was angry too.

"Fine. Let's end this."

Caesar's eyes flashed red.

They wanted a fight? Then no defense.

Let's see whose body could last longer.

He roared—

Tanked the incoming slashes head-on.

Then surged forward, his massive guandao cleaving down toward Kiku no Jo.

A feminine-looking man—Caesar had hated him for a long time.

Shhhhk!

The blade crashed into Kiku's shoulder and split him in two.

"Kiku!!"

The others screamed—

But before they could react—

Shhhhk!

One more strike—Kanjuro's chest burst open, blood spraying.

He dropped like a puppet whose strings had been cut.

"Kanjuro!!"

Kin'emon's eyes went bloodshot.

Two brothers down in seconds.

"Foxfire Slash!!"

He roared, flames erupting from his blades as he charged.

But Caesar ignored the flames—

Instead, he turned toward Ashura Doji.

Shhhhk!

The blade hit him square in the face—

No time to react.

His body collapsed in a growing pool of blood.

Three down.

---

The killing didn't stop.

In rapid succession:

Denjiro

Raizo

Kawamatsu

Inuarashi

Nekomamushi

All fell to Caesar's blade.

Now only one remained—

Kin'emon.

Caesar stood bleeding, his armor scorched and cracked—

But unbowed.

Before him, Kin'emon trembled—

Alone.

Everyone else was dead.

Oden… gone.

His comrades… gone.

His eyes stared blankly ahead.

"You're the last one. Time to join them."

Caesar's voice was cold as ice.

He hefted his guandao like a blood-soaked reaper.

He looked terrifying—coated in gore, flames, and fury.

His mythical Azure Dragon physiology healed him slowly—

Armor regenerating, wounds closing.

Kin'emon raised his blades with shaking hands.

"…Yes. I'm the last. Then I've no reason to live—

But I'll drag you into hell with me."

Caesar just smirked.

Then charged.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Kin'emon fought like a man possessed.

But even as the leader of the Red Scabbards, he couldn't hold on forever.

A few minutes later—

Shhhhk!

His head fell.

Caesar stood victorious.

Charred, wounded, drenched in blood—

But alive.

And above all—

Unstoppable.

---

He picked up Kin'emon's severed head—

Dragged himself over to Charlotte.

And dropped it at his father's feet.

The war for Wano was over.
