Chapter 801 - Chapter 800: Divine Function

Cain approached the edge of the lake, crouched down, and after a brief moment of hesitation—seeing that Alakazam showed no reaction—he extended his hand and slowly dipped his fingers into the lake's water.

A soothing freshness spread through his body from his hand.

In his mind, he immediately felt an ethereal clarity, as if his consciousness had been cleared of all distractions.

The lake's water contained a large amount of attribute-less energy. Just by touching it, Cain felt his body—tired from a series of consecutive battles—and his mind—exhausted—begin to recover significantly.

He barely managed to suppress a soft sigh of relief.

He opened his eyes again, carefully observing the lake's crystalline water.

There was not a single impurity in it—not even the shadow of a Pokémon.

This lake was truly peculiar.

For a moment, Cain wondered if it would be beneficial to place the Ralts egg in the lake water.

However, he only considered it briefly, as he didn't dare make that decision without certainty.

He pulled a canteen from his backpack. It had originally been filled with drinking water, and Cain had chosen not to store it in his item storage, preferring to carry it along with his basic supplies.

The container was already empty, so Cain filled it with the lake's water. Perhaps he could analyze it later.

The system had received a recent update, and Cain trusted that it might now be able to analyze something about the lake's water.

Just as he finished filling the canteen and was about to stand up, he noticed a reflection on the water's surface.

It was a small reflection, with large curious eyes staring at him intently, as if trying to decipher his intentions.

Cain quickly lifted his head and saw that the reflection belonged to Azelf, who had awoken at some point.

Their eyes met—large and small—with no words exchanged. Azelf's gaze held confusion.

To the side, Alakazam wiped sweat from his forehead and carefully began transmitting, via telepathy, the events that had led to their encounter with Cain.

"Hmm..." Azelf tilted its head slightly, its expression showing that it was pondering what it had heard.

Instinctively, Cain activated his system to analyze Azelf.

Cain felt his body tense as he reviewed Azelf's data.

Level 89 made it the second strongest Pokémon he had ever seen. Only Professor Oak's Dragonite surpassed it.

However, the system hadn't managed to gather all the data on Azelf—probably due to its current limitations in analyzing a Pokémon of such magnitude.

Moreover, the item "Divine Function" especially caught his attention.

It was the first time Cain had seen something like it, and he had no idea what its purpose or effect could be.

As the system analyzed Azelf, the Pokémon suddenly seemed to notice something. Its eyes sparkled, scanning the surroundings before focusing on Cain.

"Are you trying to spy on me?" A clear voice resonated in Cain's mind, impossible to identify as male or female. However, Azelf's youth was evident in the tone.

Cain's heart skipped a beat.

It was the first time a Pokémon had noticed the system's analysis.

Not even Dragonite—a Pokémon capable of facing legendaries—had sensed the scan.

Was the "Divine Function" item the reason?

Before Cain could explain, Azelf shook its head. "I must've imagined it. It's been so long since I've felt something like that. Besides, this human looks weak."

The voice filled Cain's mind again. "I know why you came, but what they're looking for isn't here."

It knew why he had come?

Cain was bewildered. He didn't even know the exact reason for his arrival.

They... was it referring to the Unown? Or something else?

Azelf continued. "Although... your Pokémon are interesting. One has exceptional talent, and the other... carries the essence of Mew. Fascinating."

That Azelf could perceive Mew's energy in Slowking didn't surprise Cain. After all, they were both Psychic-type, and Azelf, as a god, likely knew of Mew's existence.

Azelf then began communicating telepathically with Slowking, excluding Cain from the conversation.

During their exchange, Cain noticed Slowking's expression gradually become more astonished. At the same time, Azelf's gaze toward him took on a tone of surprise.

"I didn't originally plan to get involved, but Slowking says you're a good person. Someone who possesses a Pokémon with Mew's essence surely can't be a liar."

With a flick of its tail, Azelf's red gem began to shine, and the four Unown on Cain's arm emerged and floated toward Azelf.

After a few moments, the Unown returned to Cain's arm.

"What they seek is in the continent of time and space. If you get the chance, you should go—but be careful. Your current strength is pitiful."

Then, Azelf emitted a soft blue light, which enveloped the Ralts egg.

"I originally intended to give this to Slowking, but his connection to Mew makes it have little effect on him. This little one in your arms seems to need it more."

Cain watched as the light completely surrounded the egg, radiating a comforting warmth.
